ReZourceman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Apparently has test screened incredibly well. I cannot fucking wait. I just think the cast is an incredibly talented and incredibiluyblly funny group of people, with (on top of that) great chemistry.
ReZourceman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hopefully it'll be a worldwide release, the first was.
Hamishmash Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 What a weird trailer... looks like it was made on iMovie. I liked the first. Nothing TOO special but much-copied since and never really beaten in those types of films.
flameboy Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I do worry that this will be like American Pie, 1st film sets a new standard/creates sub-genre and isn't ever matched even by its own sequels which follow the law of diminishing returns. EDIT: Just checked it out...release dates is same week here 27th May.

Seriously, I don't think you need to worry - for a few reasons. A) As mentioned, its done extremely well in its first test screening. B) It has the same writer and director. (Whereas American Pie didn't). C) The writer/director is the fucking man.
Beast Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I can't wait for this either. Adored the first one and I think the second one will be good too. Same team who worked on the first one so it'll be nothing like the endless sequels of American Pie.
The Peeps Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I like that the trailer doesn't show any jokes, I hope this continues. I was expecting the first one to be a movie of the standard that the American Pie sequels have dropped to but I was very pleasantly surprised. Same cast, same writer/director. Same funny?
Ramar Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I just hope its as good as the first. Then I hope I go see it at a time when there are no annoying twats in the cinema.

What the kind of standard did American Pie set? It's basicaly Animal House - 20th anniversary reunion or Porky's 8. oO And it's not that good either... And as awesome as Hangover was, I personally think people inflate it's worth a bit (just a bit, it's still fuckin A) because of the recent drought in comedies of that genre...
Paj! Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hangover is overrated. I liked it though. It was good. I'm ambivalent about this sequel. I would bet I won't end up seeing it in the cinema, since I never see comedies.
mcj metroid Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The hangover is like the only comedy I've liked for years. I can't stand how comedies tend to have a mature rating whereas action films tend to be pussying out these days. ONly sylvester Stalones films tend to be in anyway violent in a satisfying way.

Wasn't the Expendables a comedy? I sure was laughing at a lot of it. C-mon... Terry Crewe comes plowing in near the end with his fuck off huge gun blowing people to pieces.... I laughed so much. It is a really really good film, and I really enjoyed it, but I think I liked it for all the wrong reasons
The Mad Monkey Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hangover is overrated Yup. It's a sequel, sequels are never as good as the original, fact. This will be exponentially over rated.
Ramar Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yup. It's a sequel, sequels are never as good as the original, fact. This will be exponentially over rated. Not seen The Empire Strikes Back then?
James Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yup. It's a sequel, sequels are never as good as the original, fact. This will be exponentially over rated. Terminator 2, FACT.
The Mad Monkey Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Not seen The Empire Strikes Back then? Of course I have, and remember the terrible Dagobah. It is better in some areas, but in others a lot worse. People just tend to forget the bad bits. Terminator 2, FACT. Again, better in some areas, majorly effects, John Connor was a dweeb though. It's a rule rarely broken, and this film isn't going to do it.
Paj! Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Wolverine 2 WILL BE better than the first. I'd bet money/other things on that being a fact. Aronofsky > the dogshit that was the first film. I could direct a better film than Wolverine 1 and I'm shit at life. And Aronofsky is a KoL so it will blow us all. [/end of sequels vs. originals discussion]

Mind you, I'm not keen on his time in Japan, so maybe not.
heroicjanitor Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Looking forward to this, first one was surprisingly awesome. I'll be finished my exams by then too
Oxigen_Waste Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 It's a sequel, sequels are never as good as the original, fact. As good as the original or maybe better: Actually BETTER than the original: I can keep going, if you want me to. And I'm not even counting spiritual sequels (like The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Oldboy or Requiem For A Dream) or great sequels that are only slightly inferior (like Back To The Future II / Return Of The Jedi / Dr. Mabuse).
mcj metroid Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Haha I can't believe I agree with all those sequels being better. arguable: Better and you can count every single other one being better than the motion picture as well ( except V: final frontier) Edited March 2, 2011 by mcj metroid
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 You get a gold star for mentioning Hellboy 2. The original feels almost bland compared to The Golden Army.

My fav of the 3. Never seen Star Trek, so I can't really say. And LOTR I don't really think counts, as it's essentially one movie split in 3 parts. It was planned from the start to be a 3 part story, where as most other sequels on the list weren't even planned and only came about because the first found success.
