eyyy so im being tested for RA/PsA related interstitial lung disease. What a crock load of shit.  I feel like some funny fucker up there is just having a laugh at this point.

Also - today i VERY NEARLY ran over a dog, i had control of the situation and missed the poor fecker by mere inches (i literally saw him disappear under the view of my bonnet AS my car stopped) but straight after I had a massive panic attack, which has irritated the absolute shite out of my lungs and put me in even more pain.

Oh and my GP put me on roidz a few weeks ago which REALLY HELPED, and now hes weaning me off them, and of course theyve stopped working.  Fuckssake.

I am so bloody annoyed.

the steroids tapering off caused a massive flare up.  GP upped my dose to higher than the initial dose, but it takes a few days to work.  Meanwhile my breathing was getting poorer and my pain worse.  So he sends me to hospital.   They did an xray and were able to identify inflammation.  they've given me anti bios.

I'm kinda annoyed.. i dont personally believe i have a chest infection.  I dont have the death rattle/phelgm that comes with a typical chest infection for me. I hate taking anti bios unneccesarily because with a complex immune system disorder this shit has a limited lifespan before it stops working.  But ill be a good patient and take it. :blank:  Doctor is now currently refusing to let me stop taking the steroids.

I went into work today and got chastised by pretty much every colleague and my boss wanted to send me home.  But for me its better to be DOING something, ill sit at home and worry if i have to rest lol

my lovely wonderful derm nurse specialist got me on the cancellation list for a CT, so im going for that next week! maybe that will hold the answers... because i dunno im basically stuck on steroids for the rest of my life if they cant find an answer lol

Got evacuated from work because of a huge chemical fire a mile or two away.

In reality, we were probably fine, and my house where I evacuated to is probably closer to the fire than my work, but it was kind of exciting.

The view from my friend's front door:

They've been evacuated from their house and are staying with friends. We could see the smoke from here, several towns over.

Crazy stuff.

A huge spider started crawling across the sofa blanket between my wife and I.

Luckily, as I threw the blanket across the room, the giant spider landed in an empty mug and I was able to place a book on top.

I hate this time of year.

I called 999 on my neighbours last weekend, due to some horrendous screaming that came from next door. It awoke me from a nap after a Warhammer event which went on for a bit, you dismiss initially, thoughts ranging from "probably them playing a game" / "they've got the TV on a bit loud" / "Is this some weird sex shit?", which went on for about 5-10 minutes. It literally sounded like someone woman being raped (my wife thought it was a bloke with mental problems). The screams were that bad, along with some talking and some banging. I has recordings if anyone on the Facebook wants to hear it. Whilst I'm on the phone to the operator I nip into the spare room to see if I can hear anything better, and saw one of them sat in the garden outside.

Police came about 5-10 mins later, the screams still going. I spy them chatting outside with one of the neighbours, and they went in. The screams are still going, but slowly decreasing in intensity and frequency. About 30 mins later an ambulance shows up, and they bring out this chap, who was jerking a bit and they took him away and police left too. No explanation from the residents. I call the landlord just to check if there was any mental problems with his residents (new group of students this year) and sent him clips of the sounds. Later that day we got a handwritten letter from them mentioning one of them had has a seizure, and they had called an ambulance* but the police got there first.

Now, as someone who has epilepsy for the better part of 20 years, I know what one is like and my wife knows what I do when I black out. This wasn't it. For general seizure action, you may scream at the beginning and then go into shaky mode and chill**. Not scream in terror for 45 or so minutes. So the theory is some form of drug induced hallucination or something similar. I'm glad the dude is OK, but not something I wanna repeat. I sure as shit don't regret calling 999.

* which I don't really believe as if a 999 operator heard those screams would an ambulance take nearly an hour to show up

**variations apply, but none I could see have this effect.

One of my sisters (who just stated uni) witnessed a stabbing. She was walking home when it happened. She pressed her panic alarm and the attacker ran away.

She ran over and used his coat to apply pressure,  ambulance and police  came. The victim survived and my sister was told that without her intervention  (the alarm and slowing the bleeding) they would have died.

So good in a way as she saved someone's life, but scary as she had to witness it.

How horrendous that she has to experience that, and truly terrifying I imagine.  Hope she gets support after this as I imagine she’s going to have increased anxiety especially when out on her own.

A huge well done on her heroic actions though, from scaring off the attacker to saving the person’s life.  You get minimal time to think about your actions and her quick instincts has really made her a hero.

I used to be scared of spiders, but then one set up shop in the corner of our bathroom, and I let him be, because he was catching the odd fly or mosquito.

Then one day a wasp got into the bathroom, and I found Colin cowering in fear behind a plant pot because the wasp had destroyed his web.

Now he's my best bro spider-bro, and I would do anything for him.

Colin crawled into the corner of the bathroom ceiling, and didn't move for a while. I thought he might just be hibernating? Then he dropped to the floor, and was eaten by another spider.

I will miss him.

In other news, I got caught by a speed camera doing 35(!) in a 30. I tried to appeal, saying I was auditioning for a part in Fast and Furious 10, but it was declined.

Anyway, given the choice between a £100 fine, or doing a speed awareness course, I opted for the course. I find out today that the course last half a day, and it costs £83 to do?! So I have to take half a days holiday off work, and only save £17. Fuck.

You avoid the points on your licence as well though, it's not just the money!

That's true. That's the one benefit, but seeing as I only drive my wife's car once in a while, I'm wondering if I could have gotten away with the points. They get cancelled after a few years don't they?

Four years I think, but it also might increase insurance price.

I always thought that it not hitting your insurance premiums was the main benefit to doing the course. For insurance, I think you might have to declare them even longer than they’re on your license. I was doing some quotes at the weekend and everything was “in the last five years have you…”

Haha. That's proper bollocks, that.

Is avoiding the points really much of an issue if you hardly ever accrue points?

I guess it would put the insurance up, even though I'm not the main driver, I am a named one, so would have to declare them.

It's moot now, as I've already booked a course, but it's annoying they don't say how much the course will be when you send the reply to the initial letter off. I suppose the cost varies depending on the council running it.

You should tell the other attendees that you have a PhD. They'll love that.

Ah crap. Couldn't avoid corona virus anymore now, my son got a positive test yesterday. So now my wife has to work from home and I have to take care of both kids for the next week. We got the booster vaccine two weeks ago so we are protected. My son has a fever and coughs a little but other than that is fine. My other son turns 1 today and thus, we had to cancel his birthday celebration on Sunday. Too bad but luckily we helt something last weekend.

How’s everyone doing in the storm? So far we’ve lost two fence panels and from the sounds of the racket above me I’m expecting to see a few roof tiles gone by tomorrow.
