ReZourceman
I thought this might be nice to discuss because ; A) Its a pretty major storyline B) Its nice to play the guessing game. So a current storyline is a member of Marvels first family is going to die. The issue in which it happens is being shipped in a black "body bag" poly bag. Who do you think is going to die? Happenstance
Its getting a big build up but hasnt this happened before anyway? Im sure ive seen people complaining that one or more of them have actually died previously anyway. As for this time, im thinking maybe Johnny. My original thought was Sue but im not sure Marvel would get rid of Sue or Reed as they are parents.
Cube
Someone will spill a glass of water on Johnny Storm.
ReZourceman
Yeah I was kind of thinking Reed (because I thought that would be awesome, and also Valeria is basically smarter than him so QUASI-replacement) but Johnny makes a lot of sense. Don't think it'll be Sue (woman) or Ben (too many "new" elements to him bought in recently, also featured in New Avengers, and etc)
Paj!
Won't be Ben, won't be Sue I don't think, and Reed has "died" before for a year or so donkeys ago. I think Johnny. I read the first part of this arc, but not the others. I'd clearly missed important elements in Hickman's previous stories.
Ramar
So what will be the new name, Thrilling Three?
Paj!
I think Spider-Man is joining to replace whoever dies.
Guy
I think Spider-Man is joining to replace whoever dies. I'd read that.
Daft
Who cares? They all eventually come back to life.
Paj!
Comic Book Deaths CAN be done well. See: Jean Grey. She died 7 years ago. Still dead, with no plans for a resurrection. Thankfully she was written by Grant Morrison, so died on a high-note. The annoying ones are people like...Hawkeye. Killed during the infamous Avengers Dissassembled, then just appears again a year or 2 later in disguise as someone else all along (or something like that). Daft
I dunno. Even if it were done well it would lose a load of impact just because I wouldn't be sure if they'd randomly bring them back or not.
Paj!
Well in this case I expect them to bring them (whoever dies in the FF) back eventually. With X-Men, while there lots of important characters, it's a much richer and more developed mythos, and people candie and remain dead without it being obvious they'll come back. I don't expect Jean Grey back anytime soon. Cable (who I'm sure no one outside of comic fans will know about) also just died, and I DEFINITELY see him staying dead 4ever. He was a big character, but not classic enough. EDIT: Oh shiiii, and Nightcrawler, everyone's fave, died too. I can see him coming back, but dunno how they'd explain it...he was very dead. Like run through with a robotic arm. Buried etc. Edited October 26, 2010 by Paj!
Daft
I thought Cable died ages ago. Shows how little I know.
Paj!
Hmm. Well he was presumed dead a few years ago after Gambit and Sunfire (working for Mr. Sinister, the swines) fucked up his island paradise with him still on it (IIRC). But then we all knew he wasn't dead. He was the suprise appearance character in Messiah CompleX, a big story a few years ago. Most characters have lots of presumed dead bits. :p
Oxigen_Waste
With X-Men, while there lots of important characters, it's a much richer and more developed mythos Which is why they're Marvels best "brand", imo.
Dan_Dare
Everyone in Marvel dies at some point. Hell, Ms Marvel died and came back so fast I genuinely didn't know it had happened.
chairdriver
Well it makes sense, considering they have people like Dr. Strange/Scarlet Witch etc who are great.
Paj!
Yeah, death would really be taken for granted in the MU. They should really try and consult all the great magicians before holding a funeral. Though most ressurectors inconveniently seem to be evil. Selene was the big bad in a recent crossover called Necrosha, where she rezzed EVERY dead X-Man and X-Foe. :/ But Warpath killed her, didn't he? Rude. And Madelyne Pryor recently led the Sisterhood (lolz) against the X-Men to...I think...resurrect Jean Grey with a lock of hair or something...either way, she proved she could bring back the dead by recurrected Psylocke's british body, which was rotten and years deceased at that point. * I'm rambling into comic-fans only knowledge, but yeah. BASICALLY death and life are concepts strangely handled in superhero comics. *Just because I love it - best page from Matt Fraction's X-Man run: Clickity

Happenstance
The difference with those though is that they arent ongoing worlds. As far as I know both are planned to end at some point.

Incorrrreeeeccccctttt. Well.... He has said he has no planned ending for TWD, wants it to continue on and have it eventually follow Carl on to being an adult (unless it was one of his classic rouses and Carl will die one day) :p And Invincible isn't ever going to end. The day that gets cancelled (or rather 3 months later from that day) is the day I kill myself. Simples.
Happenstance
From what ive read Invincible was originally supposed to end with this arc its on now but it got pushed back due to popularity
EEVILMURRAY
Is it confirmed that one is actually going to die, as opposed to just fapping off to a distant part of the universe to fist a Skrull/similar? Either way, it's not going to be for long.
