good stuff thread.

It seems that @Fierce_LiNk and I have finally saved up a decent deposit for a house (part of that is thanks to both our families as well), so we should probably go have a talk with banks soon about mortgages! Exciting! :yay:

Question for people who have bought a house/are buying one, how much do you stick to the asking price on property sites, or how much do/can you go below it?

I kind of want to have an idea what my price range is when looking at houses; don't want to exclude ones that are currently priced higher than we can afford (but where we might get a lower offer in)!

Really depends on the area. I wanted to offer 95% but before I even did that, people had offered the asking price. Other parts of the city you could easily go below. On the other hand, my boss once offered 17k over the asking price in a nice part of town and didn't get it (17k might not sound like a lot to Londoners, but it is around here).

Anyway, nothing lost by offering low.

Haven't posted for a while, but a couple of good things!

My boyf and I bought a house in January (start of Jan), and it's all going through very smoothly and we are hoping to be in for March bank holiday! All good times!

And I also wrote to my bank in January as I've had an account with them since 2006 (when I became staff there), and had been paying for an Additions account (packaged bank account) every month until March 2015 when I finally cancelled it.

I wrote to them telling them I wanted a refund of all I'd paid due to never using the services provided from it in that time (standard template from Martin Lewis money website!).

They wrote back a few weeks ago asking me to fill an in-depth form in, and then last night, £1550 was credited to my account! :o

Good times indeed. So well worth doing if anyone has a packaged account and has never registered or took advantage of any services from it!

I have seen Muse last Sunday.

It was glorious. Highlights were The Handler, The Globalist, Take A Bow and Apocalypse Please. This was the fourth time I've seen and hopefully not the last. :)

That's the most German sentence ever.

But awesome! I'm seeing them in April. Can't wait! Did they have the revolving stage?

I'm seeing them in April too when they come to Glasgow. Should be an amazing gig, even though I'm sitting I cannot wait.

They did.

Usually, I don't take pictures during a gig, but with Muse you just have to. I'll put them in spoilers, just in case.

They had Drones flying around :awesome:

You won't be sitting :D In Cologne, nobody was during the 2 hours Muse were on stage.

6 weeks in Reading and I've achieved one of my life's goals of being able to walk into a pub and order "the usual".

Admittedly "the usual" is a burger, but it still counts. And it's better than the other time I could order "the usual", which was a jumbo sausage and chips from the local chippy.

I had a friend in college who got to the point in Macdonalds where they started asking him if he wanted the usual. Pretty sure thats when he stopped going to that Macdonalds anymore.

I never went back to that chippy after they said "the usual?" before I'd had chance to order.

Some of the staff at the cafe at work knew my usual, but then I did go there regularly to escape the office so it's to be expected. Plus who can forget my dashing face?

Moving in date confirmed for 2 weeks today! :yay:

Sofa ordered at the weekend.

And I sorted my TV package out and got a great deal (or, I think it is!)

BT fibre optic broadband, BT YouView TV box to record live TV, rewind etc with all your freeview channels, all BT Sport channels (which is great for me and the tennis), 27 extra entertainment channels in HD (including Eurosport 1 & 2 in HD), a phone line, and a £100 master card for £35.49 a month. :D

Added to that, I did it through a staff rewards link which rewards you for shopping, and they had a deal on for 9000 wow points (their version of currency) if you took out a TV package with BT / SKY / Virgin. So I got 9000 wow ponts too which is £90 in our money. :)

Absolutely chuffed. Just hoping BT is good, but it canot be worse than our SKY internet which is absolute garbage and cuts out if my sister connects her laptop. Which is nightly. And very frustrating.

But yay for house-ness.

Booked a ten-day trip back to Vegas this July! Staying in the Monte Carlo, Golden Nugget and the Mirage!

I'm going to see if I can't do my Fallout New Vegas dream tour: Goodsprings Saloon; Primm Rollercoaster; Spring Mountain Ranch; Red Rock Canyon; Lake Mead; Hidden Valley and so on!

And then of course the Stratosphere rides where they dangle you off the tower, the Neon Museum, Atomic Testing Museum, Hoover Dam (again), Valley of Fire, Mount Charleston, all the casinos, the Flamingo Habitat...

...ten days is not enough time :(

Went for a check up and my dentist said my teeth are looking great. Which doesn't sound like much but they kind of fell into neglect because I had an irrational fear/dislike of dentists based on bad childhood experiences. Tried again a few years ago and ended up with a dentist that was very judgemental ("you're brushing wrong!" rather than "what you should be trying to do is...") so I didn't go back. However, since going with this one some point last year it's become much better. Had a lot of work done (at great expense because private) but it seems to be paying off.

So here's to nice friendly people (and to better dental hygiene I guess)!

Spent the weekend in Glasgow with the missus as part of an anniversary gift and took her to see Newton Faulkner on Sunday night as we're both massive fans and she's yet to see him live. Needless to say, we had a fantastic time at the concert, great performance all around from the support acts and Newton Faulkner was as brilliant as I remember. Getting to hear our song (Dream Catch Me) played live together was an incredible experience and very moving for us both as we're dancing to it at our wedding. Superb gig and think the missus will be eagerly watching for when he next comes up this way to go and see him live again, to be honest so will I. Can't recommend going along to one of his live shows enough.

Did a bit of shopping as well and despite the rain (it's Scotland so I shouldn't really have been surprised :heh:), it was nice to treat her to a few things, although my shoulders aren't too happy for having to carry around all the bags from said shopping  Also being told that the take away place we went to on Sunday night didn't have any 12" pizzas so we'd be getting 16" ones instead for no extra money was a nice little bonus

Back to the grind at work but a fantastic weekend with some amazing memories.

Shame on you even asking for a 12" pizza when a 16" is available.

I heard Ganepark was coming to Glasgow this weekend so jetted off to Berlin for the weekend. Had an absolutely amazing time for a friend's stag do. Started drinking at about 12:30pm on Friday and finished around 5am on Sunday morning.
