Posted July 19, 2010 Best. Thread. Ever. Needs more Spotify. Antony & The Johnsons - Knockin' On Heaven's Door I'll post more tomorrow. Amaze. I heard the original of that the other day, and I was reminded how inappropriate the "feel" of the song is. It's far too upbeat, considering it has the bleakest lyrics. Antony's voice is the best damn thing. --- One of my faves:
Posted July 19, 2010 Jeff Buckley – “Hallelujah” this and are the only covers i care about

Posted July 20, 2010 It's always refreshing to hear someone who's not a manic depressive singing a Morrisey song. I think at least one forum member will approve of that choice. Whatever it is, James Dean-Bradfield's packin' some.
Posted July 20, 2010 Doesn't really compare to the Tegan and Sara original, but it's different and I like it. I also second Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. Gnarls Barkley did a grand cover of Gone Daddy Gone(by the Violent Femmes) as well.
Posted July 20, 2010 Doesn't really compare to the Tegan and Sara original, but it's different and I like it. Too much yes. Tegan and Sara's voicals work far better for the song. I also second Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.. Am I the only one who much prefers the original?
Posted July 20, 2010 Am I the only one who much prefers the original? I don't think even Trent Reznor prefers the original...
Posted July 20, 2010 It must just be because I have an irrational hatred for old people.
Posted July 20, 2010 That's okay, I have an irrational hate of female singers. Like, can't stand 99% of songs sung by a girl. This isn't necessarily due to them being female, it may just be a bad song.
Posted July 20, 2010 I'm the opposite, except I like male singers as well. (lol) --- I quite like this, because of the sound quality (and of course her voice):

Posted July 20, 2010 I got a minute five, but it's just whining to me. Yeah, to be fair it makes more sense when you know her bag. Her album is amazing; its a different style, and it works better: (The megaphone bits take away, but you live, you learn...) ----- Love this, too:

Posted July 20, 2010 By emotion and power do you mean completely ruining a great song? Fun fact: It was known as is folk song before The Animals. The believe first version: One of favorite covers of The House of the Rising Sun.

They've released two full albums of them, called "From the Screen to Your Stereo" and "From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II" Good covers =) If you are into that punkpop sound. Of course I'll also mention Millencolin's cover of "Every Breath You Take" =D

Posted July 20, 2010 Love these, I do love the direction they've taken the song, but I hate how people know this over the Kate Bush original. Considering she's The Mother. Interestingly, she recorded an alternative version of the song: I think I prefer it, but that's maybe just because I've grown up on the album version, and love hearing a change.
