8-ish chances each, men of the match; the goalkeepers. :)

I've been putting off playing my rookie keeper, so i finally give him a game and he plays an 8 :D what a hero

Lowest grade in the team was a 6 from shelton (which is pretty low), but he still found the net :yay:

That eases relegation pressure ever so slightly... I'd love to keep the team in with the aficionados before i leave :) it'll also mean i'll have never been relegated.

Dunno why but your the only team this season to stop all my midfield playing decent. Usually at least 1 plays 10+, past 2 games nobodys played better than 8 or something.

Glad the double with Mcoy is over. It's always going to be a close one with us two since we talk about our tactics in other matches so often and know what the other might try and do :heh:

Only one point clear now, but the fact that I was in the position where dropping 5 points wasn't enough to kick me out of top spot is still mighty impressive. Fingers crossed for this half :D

I'm in love with the Modern League

DuDs Baggies 1-0 Haden United

The Baggies notched up an impressive win to take themselves away from the relegation zone. The Baggies played 4-5-1 against a United 4-4-2 formation, Baggies seemed to anticipate and frustrate United at every opportunity who only made one chance the whole match. The Baggies only had 3 but one of them was a long range effort that in form Baddeley curled home just before half time. At this point in the season fatigue starts to effect players and both teams lost crucial members after half time. Marconossi who has had a disappointing season so far was given more bad news when his hamstring gave way, Forsyth for the Baggies was also taken off, except he left on a stretcher. Just before the end the goal scorer Baddeley limped off the pitch after receiving a knock. Even so the Baggies were jubilant it was a great win that reignites their campaign to stay up. For United after a disappointing Sons result this is another set back.

Madpool 2-1 Mcoys Sons

Madpool and the Sons displayed contrasting styles in a fascinating match. The Sons got off to a flying start scoring the quickest goal in the league this season. Moses heading in a whipped in cross, as the ball flew in he ran over to the away fans and kissed the team badge. Madpool dominated possession 60%-40% and made chance after chance but went in at half time behind to the early goal. On the 62nd minute mark Madpool fans could breathe again as Sedgewick volleyed the ball in from a corner kick. By this point Madpool were in the ascendancy but chances began to dry up, luckly for them one fell to the player of the season so far, Quintal. Who held the ball up then blasted the ball into the top right hand corner from just outside the box. Madpool fans chanted his name and the Sons players heads fell. It was an intriguing match, one that sees Madpool carry on their pursuit of Dysonism and puts the Sons back into relegation trouble despite early heroics.

Cubic County 1-3 Roostophe Rovers

Rovers carried on their return to form with a impressive away win over County. Rovers played 3-4-3 to County's 4-4-2, chances early on were back and forth but Rovers always looked more dangerous. Sheldon put them ahead with a deftly placed shot on 16 minutes, an extended period of pressure resulted in a Rovers penalty that Cuadrado put away with ease. Just as County tried to restart the game with some hope, Monington curled in a beautiful cross for Bond to head home. This was Monington's 94th assist in his long career at Rovers, it wasn't all plain sailing for Rovers, Hapgood suffered a bad collision with a County player and was stretchered off. Veteran midfielder Waller headed in a goal to give County fans something to cheer about but by then it was all to late. This was a performance that will have many Rovers fans asking why aren't they challenging for the title. In what could be Cuadrado, Monington, Bond and even Sheldon's last season this golden generation has shown they still have the talent but is it to late for a top 3 push? For County the game is a set back but one they have to move on from quickly to capitalize on more positive results.

Essex Elites 0-1 Dysonism F.C

Elites suffered another humiliating blow to their survival chances as Dysonism snuck away with a vital away win. The Elites played 5-4-1 and looked very negative in their mindset trying to kill the game against Dysonism's 4-4-2 formation. At first it worked and the Elites actually created some chances, but an isolated Corben stood no chance. Hooke picked up an injury in the 1st half and the veteran captain was badly missed as he was replaced with a youth player. It seemed the game would go to a 0-0 draw but Dysonism broke Elites hearts as Spirito popped up at just the right moment to head in a important goal for Dysonism. This win was a close one for Dysonism but one that puts them way out ahead in the title race and gives them momentum going into the double header. For the Elites barring a miracle they are almost sure to be relegated now.

Analysis

Most Important Result: Essex Elites 0-1 Dysonism F.C, future champions relegated last seasons champions with this result?

Turned on the Style Award: Roostophe Rovers, yet again they have shown they can play with supreme style when they want to.

Player of the Day: Neal Hiles, Madpool, a couple of assists from this man shows Madpools midfield has up and coming starts as well as talented veterans.

Double Header tommorow report tommorow!

Btw have been asking a few of you if you want to take over Baggies team. If anyone does (prefrably a manager from one of the two lower leagues let me know.) Also if you know anyone from the forum who might want to join next season let me know, want to try and get some recruits early this season.

Today: A double header mid-season spectacular!

Playing home and away...

Rising Pheonix 4 - 1 Complete Domstercool

It was yet another complete defensive collapse late in the second half that spelled doom for a battered Complete Domstercool squad as Rising Pheonix continued to soar higher and higher towards the top of the table. It had been a competitive hour of play, DC equalising at 1-1 with a shot from Mansell. Dsoon after though RP’s star player Lorimer hit back with his second goal and never looked back, Phoenix offence tearing through the opposition. Two further goals in the last ten minutes finished another bitter day for the Domsters.

DISCOUNTED VIAGRA 1 - 1 Juicy Fruits

DISCOUNTED VIAGRA were left to count their blessings as Teryoshi Koga stuck late in the game despite the team being firmly on the back foot throughout. Righter scored first and early for the Fruit, bursting through the Viagra defence with Dennis Ramdat for record breaking goal right in the first minute of play. Fruit midfielder Lynch was injured five minutes later but with an organised defence they managed to regroup and strike back to finish with a fortunate point.

Bayern Fish 2 - 0 Martinists Men

The Fish were left essentially unopposed as they breezed to an early victory against the disorganised Men. Full confidence the Fish pressed the field drawing ire from the referee, eventually finishing with 3 yellow cards. Torsten Hammarskjöld led from the front scoring both of their goals, the first a beautiful header and the second a solid free kick effort from well outside the penalty area. Once again Martinist’s Men had no reply leaving the squad in a deepening state of crisis halfway through the season.

Recall United 2 - 1 AFC ReZs Rabies

It was a tense encounter between Recall United and the Rabies but one that saw Recall overcome a sub par defence to make the most of the chances on goal. The Rabies offence went immediately on the front foot harrying the RU goalmouth but it was Solano who struck first for the red with a powerful long range shot. Rabies harried again skillfully picking their through the defence but failing to find the net. Recall then countered again with a breakthrough run with a close range shot by Roy MacCalham. Hallerstron finally took a consolation goal for the Rabies in extra time, but question will still need to be asked of ReZ’s defensive lineup.

Most Important Result: Bayern Fish 2 - 0 Martinists Men sinking the Men to very bottom of the table.

Turned on Style: Rising Pheonix 4 - 1 Complete Domstercool, yet another blistering result for a team on the up and up.

Player of the Day: Kieron Lorimer, yet again the star of the Rising Phoenix with a two goals and an assist.

... and then away at home.

Complete Domstercool 2 - 3 Rising Phoenix

It was a slightly improved performance for the Domstercools but it still wasn’t to dim the unstoppable fires of Rising Phoenix. Things seemed to be going badly as they went two-nothing down despite dominating possession of the ball. Two long range shot goals, the first from Mansell after the first half hour and then again from Altstrand half way through the second half seemed to sink Rising Phoenixs chances. Then the fight back began, Piquet and then McAvoy scoring in the last twenty minutes with the cruel killing blow coming from Bolam in extra time shattering what looked like a olsid victory for DC.

Juicy Fruits 0 - 1 DISCOUNTED VIAGRA

DISCOUNTED VIAGRA snatched a rare win against the odd with a single goal against a Fruits squad that had everything except luck on the day. Kartasemita, Fruits midfield linchpin was forced to limp off early compromising their ability to set up the shots but their strikers persisted. Four time sthey burst through the Viagra defence only to have each shot sail the wrong side of the post. DV didn’t seemed to be anywhere in comparison with their ofeence being effectively picked apart by the opposition time after time until their star Eichi Takeo finally broke through in extra time to take the match.

AFC ReZs Rabies 1 - 1 Recall United

It was a gentlemen's affair between the Rabies and Recall with the referee pocket going unmolested despite plenty of action along the full length of the pitch. The Rabies had the best of the possession but were unable to take full control with Recall consistently on the offensive. Wiberg scored first for the Rabies heading in a graceful cross at 25 minutes only for Recall’s Deacon to retunr the exact same favour at 39 minutes. Both harried the goalmouth throughout the second half but neither found the net again, the final score 1-1 unfitting for what was a game of relatively high calibre.

Martinists Men 1 - 2 Bayern Fish

The Fish continued on their ascendant League cup campaign with a solid victory against the struggling Martinists Men. The Men had their wits about this time and harried the Fish goalmouth time after time with brilliant counter attacking football throughout. Bayern’s golden boy Hammarskjold struck first with a header off Andervi. Jardin finally bagged an equaliser for the Men soon after the break but the squad were soon running out of steam. Niskanen hustled through for a skill full midrange goal to take game and put the Bayern Fish squad within shouting distance of the very top of the table.

Most Important Result Martinists Men 1 - 2 Bayern Fish. Now the Fish can start to dream of league glory.

Turned on Style: AFC ReZs Rabies – don’t be fooled into ignoring a fantastic attacking performance by the scoreline.

Player of the Day: Eichi Takeo rising above it to clinch the win in dying seconds for DISCOUNTED VIAGRA.

After this week I will

Mcoys Sons 2-1 Dysonism F.C

The double's kicked off with the biggest shock in the season so far. As Mcoys Sons edged a victory over the previously unbeaten Dysonism. Playing 3-5-2 to Dysonism's 3-4-3 the Sons always looked more in control of the match, but Dysonism looked ferocious on the break. Mclen put Dysonism ahead after 11 minutes with Dysonisms only chance of the half. Both teams made more chances in the 2nd half but it was the Sons who looked a constant threat up front making 8 chances overall to Dysonisms 5. Moses scored via a header in the 70th minute to a rapturous respons from Sons fans. This was nothing compared to the delirium when Moses teed up Jbil for a smashing long range shot that flew past the goalies hands into the top right hand corner. Sons fans were ecstatic and even the normally stoical manager leaped for joy. The first defeat inflicted on Dysonism may only slow down the side to their first title but surely it proves the Sons should be in this league next season.

Dysonism F.C 1-1 Mcoys Sons

Despite their shock loss Dysonism came to the return leg of the double with an unchanged 3-4-3 formation while the Sons played a defensive 5-3-2. In a ill tempered first hour it was the Sons who again seemed to have Dysonisms number as they limited their chances to 0 against 4 for themselves. There was also 4 yellow cards as tempers flared, on 76 minutes a breakthrough was made and unbelievably it was Jbil again with a devastating ground drive that went in off the post. Dysonisms goalie had a massive go at his defenders who after the first game still gave him enough space to launch another long range effort. As news filtered through that Haden United were beating Cubic County comprehensibly Dysonism fans had to face the reality that they may not be heading the table that night. However just as hope had faded Twigg found himself with the ball in the box and slotted it past the Sons goalie, he ran over to the home fans and jumped into the crowd. This was the last action in a captivating derby that pitted the best attacking manager in the league against perhaps the best tactically gifted manager in the league. These two results lift the Sons from relegation certainties to 6th place in the league, for Dysonism these results are a wake up call.

Bayern Bru 3-1 Essex Elites

Bru took pleasure in recovering their stop start season with a convincing win over rivals the Elites. Bru played their usual 3-5-2 formation against a 4-4-2 Elites set up, Elites needed a victory badly and some hope was given to them when Sharpe hit in a Brammer free kick to put the Elites ahead. However after a stiff talking to at half time Bru came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half, Lindpere headed in a curling corner on 49 minutes. Helder then made it 2-1 with another headed goal that exposed a lack of organization in the Elites defense. Moments later Lindpere hit in a lightning strike to make it 3-1 and finish the game off. More misery was poured onto the Elites as Hooke was once again injured and will be out until the start of August. For the Bru this was an important home win for the Elites just another game in a season they will want to forget.

Essex Elites 3-1 Bayern Bru

Well a true turn up for the books marked the 2nd half of this double! The Elites might be doomed to go down but at least they have won at least one game. Deciding to throw caution aside the Elites played 4-3-3 without Hooke obviously, Bru went for a more conservative 4-4-2. Conner started the scoring when he tapped in a close range shot as Bru was taken by surprise. Bru had the better of the chances in the 1st half though and their pressure caused a mistake by Haywood who put the ball in the back of his own net to make it 1-1. However in the 2nd half Conner scored twice with two headers to score a great hat trick and secure the Elites first win. The fans seem to be in no doubt that the Elites are going down but savored this victory over their long term rivals the Bru. As for the Bru they seemed to be the better side in most regards but things seem to have not quite worked for them this season.

craig_beattie_1212646c.jpg

Haden United 2-1 Cubic County

United won a close game against County in an incident full game. United played a 3-5-2 formation against Countys 4-3-3. A couple of yellow cards and a nasty injury to a County midfielder started the match off but it was a Durov shot that went in off the post that really started things off. Veteran County defender Dale limped off in what was turning into more of a combative affair. Durov made it 2-0 to United with a vintage curling free kick that nestled in the top corner. After United dominated the first half County hit back in the 2nd making chance after chance until Uniteds 3 man defense could hold out no longer. Finally a mistake led to a penalty that Maupas put away however it was to little to late as United closed out the match. After struggling against other promoted sides this was a much needed win for United. For County an away point would have been very useful but they performed well.

Cubic County 0-3 Haden United

Disaster struck County as United carved them open in a game that was embarrassing for home fans to watch. United played the same formation again as did County but United seemed the better prepared side, United had 61% possession and made 5 chances to 2. The out of form Marconossi set up Eveleens for the first goal a diving header. Durov scored yet another direct free kick a trait that is helping him be one of the MVP is the league. The 2nd half saw County get back into the game but Weesle snuffed out all hopes of a comeback when he curled in a blistering long range shot to put the game to bed. United saw their title hopes improve drastically as they surged to within a point of Dysonism while County fell into the relegation zone after this double that started promisingly but descended into farce.

DuDs Baggies 2-1 Madpool

Season 12 was the last time these two sides met and it ended in a victory each so everyone expected a close game, which is just what they got. Baggies played 3-5-2 against Madpools 4-4-2, chances were made by both teams but a killer edge was lacked. It was Baggies who were in the ascendancy though and Lisbie side footed a shot into the back of the net just before half time to give Baggies the edge. In the 2nd half Madpool hit back as Hiles delivered a wonderful through ball for the youth Gay to latch onto and take round the keeper. Baggies looked the more impressive team but were running out of time to take all 3 points. In fact they had to wait until the last minute when Shelton headed in a Wooten cross to the delight of the home crowd. Baggies looked good all through this game while Madpool failed to build on their recent strong form.

Madpool 1-4 DuDs Baggies

Some unusual Baggies tactics delivered a shock to Madpool who were stunned by an away defeat of impressive magnitude. Madpool seemed cautious and played a 4-5-1 formation trying to control the game, Baggies on the other hand played an offensive 5-3-2 formation. This unorthodox formation shook Madpool in the 1st half when they made no chances to 5 for the Baggies. Shelton then Zipper converted two of these chances with shots to make it 2-0 before half time to the Baggies. Any chance of a Madpool fight back in the 2nd half was stalled when Simpson scored via a breakaway, Simpson who is a defender! Quintal did set up Sedgewick to save some pride for Madpool but this was soon erased when Wooten curled in a ball for Zipper to score his 2nd. Gay was given the role up front for Madpool but seemed out of his depth. However it was a team effort that caused Baggies to win this game and Madpool to lose. From being relegation candidates this double has turned Baggies season around. For Madpool a lot of momentum has been lost they will have to fight hard to get it back.

Analysis: Week 1

Most Important Result: Mcoys Sons 2-1 Dysonism F.C, Dysonism's first loss a great win for the Sons!

Turned on the Style Award: Bayern Bru, some outrageous attacking verve sets them apart from the Elites.

Player of the Day: Roman Durov, Haden United, can't stop scoring at the moment.

Analysis Week 2:

Most Important Result: Madpool 1-4 DuDs Baggies, with this result as well as the first in the double these two teams have swapped momentum and lack of momentum with each other.

Turned on the Style Award: DuDs Baggies, a weird 5-3-2 formation works wonders and gives Baggies 4 goals!

Player of the Day: Martin O Conner, Essex Elites, a great hat trick gives the Elites their first win this season!

*sigh*

well and truly out of the title race now, relegation battle it is.

Don't know what the hell has happened past 3 games, the first loss to DuD knocked my players form quite alot, plus with Hadley getting injured. Next game away to Essex, massive game, a point would be a good result looking at my recent performances.
