david.dakota Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I'm sure this will fall into the realms of the tech forums, but forgive me if not. The Governments recent agreement that all UK residents should have access to 2mb broadband speeds is rather disappointing. We're just short of 2mgs, and with new technologies emerging, it seems we'll still be left behind. Since that announcement, i've heard a bit on 'community broadband projects'- sounds very interesting but finding info on them is not easy. Does anyone have experience of these projects? How do you start thinking of setting a project like this up? Is your broadband provided by such a project, how do you like it?
McPhee Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Seems like a bit of a niche thing, heck this thread is the second result in Google for "Community Broadband Projects"! What's the idea? Residents pay for their own exchange upgrade? Or we purchase our own line? I never even knew it was possible, but if it is i'm definitely interested!
