Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) Update time : peace: Granted these are mostly left over from when we upgraded to 3.8 and have spent the last few weeks discussing it furiously and not frequently forgetting about it of course... Quick Reply Buttons You should now notice that the quick reply box has more buttons. Shiny buttons for button button (spot the reference and no its not Benjamin)! They now appear on the quick reply box in threads, when you click edit on your post and in PMs. For some reason with PMs on the standard scheme it goes off the egde. One of those weird things where it shouldn't (as the settings are the same for the other two areas) but it does. I can't imagine anyone will be too upset. Social Bookmarking Requested aaaaages ago but it's finally here. At the bottom of the thread just above the "whose looking at this thread" is a button (I love buttons), click on it and it will provide you with social bookmarking options galore. Tags Threads can now be tagged to help index them. At present only staff can tag threads so we don't end up with variations of the same tag (xbox360, x360, microsoft xbox360, xsucks360) and obviously its an ongoing process. Tags are displayed at the bottom of the thread and you can click on them to find threads with the same tags. For example: forum updates Could someone please tell me if you can try and submit tags? You shouldn't be able to but I'm not sure if you can try and we can approve. If not I'll set up a tag request thread. Profile Customisation You can now add colours and stuff to your profile. Please I beg of you don't turn this into MySpace. I faffed around with it for ages earlier and this was the best I could do. There was some ugly results on route so try not to have any kind of horrible miss-matching colour thing. If things are so vulgar we will ask for them to be changed, if ignored it shall be reverted. BWAHAHAHA. Visitor Messaging Like a Facebook wall essentially. This can be moderated (at the moment you're free to post but if abused we'll set it so we have to approve everything first) and also posts can be reported if inappropriate and also deleted by yourself. Please remember we try and maintain a fairly family friendly place so don't go abusing this or it will be removed. Private Messages "Your Notifications" in the top left now includes friend requests (more on that later), unread and unapproved visitor messages. All usergroups have also had a boost. Woo! However with the Visitor Messages that should curb down on PMs a bit. I'm sure we've all sent a PM or two in the past which isn't particularly private, but its also not relevant for threads. Online Gaming Info This was meant to be more but it kept screwing up and I've already given it a few hours so I'll wait until I can get it sorted but presently a new profile tab has been added called 'Online Info'. This contains Wii, Xbox, PSN Usernames/codes and Wii friend codes for games. Once again my page has examples. Friends You can now be friends with each other, awww. Granted I think this semi-existed before as it seems some of you are contacts, but now you can be friends too (I find it a bit cold its differentiated but hey ho). You can put anyone as your contact, however to be a friend you need to have it approved. If im honest I'm not really sure of its use...could be handy if you PM particular people regularly (such as in Mafia games). All this should be working across all schemes but if it isn't please let me know. Likewise any bugs please post them in here (not the too many page numbers things, we are looking into that). I know these are particularly wow. Bigger updates will be coming soon but some shiny new stuff for you for the time being. For example I want to reply to jayseven with "It's a work in progress :P" but there doesn't appear to be any way to do such thing! I know this is petty but could the tags box be shifted down and people viewing box be bumped up? Posted April 8, 2009 Hmm thats strange. Logged in as you to check (eww, your profile page ) and not much showed up on Jay's profile, and a bit more but still not visitor messaging on Moogles. Tried with logging in as Flink and he was fine. Will look into it tomorrow. As far as the tags, if more people feel like this (that was meant to grab attention, not shouting) than yeah it can be moved down. So can social bookmarking. I couldn't decide whether it fitted better at the beginning or at the end of that sentence. So, I left it at both. These all seem pretty good. It now goes Users Online, Reply box, Social Networking, Tags. Figured that was probably the most logical manner. Still having problems with others profiles btw?
