And it's finally happened

Recommended Posts

It's great that not only does the biggest country has a black president, but also that he is a man with such determination and charisma. His personality really shows through and I definately hope he leads then world forward in a positive way. Like someone above said he'll definately have a positive affect on the people of America. I mean, look at Bush or Gordon Brown; they might know what they're talking about but they don't really give off any good vibes.

Not only is Obama the first black President of the US, he's just another great great grand child of Ireland

Apparently there's been an official invite sent to him today to come visit Ireland and his ancestral hometown.. what I find damn funny is the name of the town is Moneygall... considering the buckets of money he spent on his campaigne and all

At the end of the day I think everyone in the world has a little irish in them, hence why we are the greatest country in the world :D.

Finally. American as re-gained its awesomeness.

I was in school when he made the speech. I'm going to have to watch it tomorrow. I've heard great things about it though.

The fact that he's black is pretty invalid if you ask me, his race shouldn't matter. I do wonder whether it was his politics that got in in to the white house or just the colour of his skin?

Don't get me wrong though, i do think he'll do a good job. His policies seem very sound. I'm just of the opinion that there was very little to choose between this year's front runners and that he pretty much won because he played the race card

^ What McPhee said.

Although there is alot of doubt about how he will do in office, plenty of people seem to think he will turn America into a socialist country. I really don't understand the fears though myself, there are other branches of the government set up to guard against those things, but I digress.

Idk what he'll manage in office, but it can't be much worse than what Bush did. Hell anything would be better than Palin too(voting for McCain was the same as voting for her, he'd probably die at some point leaving her in charge*shudders*)

Hahaha, I'm surprised his presidential limo doesn't have 30" spinners

I really don't know why everyone's so happy that a black man is in power, rather, that the right man is in power. If you got McCain and Obama and switched their colours I'd want the white man to win.

Agreed. People that were voting for McCain because he was white was considered racist. Yet the millions of black people voting for Obama because he was black is somehow ok? I'm not saying that Obama wasn't the best candidate because he clearly was, but that doesn't stop it from being racist.

I fear it was the same for Arnie. Not being black though.

Unfortunately Arnie can't be President of the USA as only natural born American's can.

The disappointing thing about Obama being President now is that Mock the Week and HIGNFY have just lost one of their best targets.

Doesn't make my point any less true.

I understand the hype but people should tone it down a bit, he is not superman and he is taking over a country in dire trouble. I think it could be a struggle for him.

Or for anybody for that matter.

Saying that, it's a nice step forward to have a black president and he seems like he'll try pretty hard to do a decent job. Hurray.

Yep, especially considering the fact that race was hardily ever came up during campaigning from either side.

The reason that its significant that America have elected a black president is that as Obama said, 50 years ago, he wouldn't have been able to eat at many restaurants. It doesn't make him any better of a president obviously, it just shows that America has come a long way in the last while.
