External hard disk on a network?

I figured someone of you guys would know how to do this (if its even possible):

 

Basically I want to attach a USB External hard disk to a network, without having to attach it to a PC. I suppose akin to a NAS. Just another point - it is externally powered so there's no issues with that.

 

I was considering buying one of these and attach via wired Ethernet. Dunno how or if it will work?

You either need to buy a NAS enclosure, or, something like this: http://www.addonics.com/products/nas/nasu2.asp

 

There are also routers that have USB ports that can share a USB drive or printer as well.
