The thing about video calling that I think won't make it as popular as you say it will be, is the fact you have to have the camera facing you.

For example, when you're walking in the street, do you really want to be holding a phone in front of you and not really be able to see where you're going. It's much easier just holding it to your ear and talking.

It just seems really inconvenient for mobility. Even a lot of home phones nowadays are wireless and can be used walking around the house.

Man has the urge to automate and make things more efficient, we've been like this since we first emerged all those years ago.

We've used tools to speed tasks up since then too, its amazing how much this urge has pushed us forward.

Now, though, we use computers, guns, and drugs (just to name a few) to speed up our evereyday tasks. Biologicaly engineer animals and produce for faster production rather than spears. Its the same principle, just on a larger more efficient scale.

While you maybe right, you can always choose whether you would like to video call or just call normally. Problem solved. Plus, to accommodate the feature, the camera could swivel inwards and outwards (outwards for picture taking).

Seriously though, calling, like messaging, leaves out some very important body language. Not only that, but it'll finally feel like your talking to someone who is in the same room. And that is, of course, the whole reason phones were made.
