Ah right, that's a bit sad to be honest. Oh well, I can't be assed to go back now, just done another main quest. I'm at level 13 now. Woop!

The one I've just done is the one

Where dad dies and you have to escort the people away.

Question: roughly how much of the main quest remains? Please say there's a lot more!

Kind of wish I had not spoiled this for myself by reading someone else's post...wait, that was on Gamefaqs. Was really tired so was not paying attention yet that bit stood out clearly.

Anyways, now on the mission where you are going to get the power back on for the purity thing, housed in the Jefferson Memorial building. How close am I to making it to the citadel?

I can't stress how cool this game is, it's just awesome. Is anyone else here in agreement that this is the best game they have played this year?

Little things like running into an abondoned factory, finding a few glowing ghouls that scare the crap out of you, but then you slow-mo power fist them to death. Quality stuff.

I don't play RPGs much but when I do they are usually pretty good. Thing is they take up so much time that you shouldn't buy too many.

I've deliberately avoided this thread for fear of spoilers, but I've been playing the game solidly and near-enough 100%'ed it. I'm going to go ahead and say it right now; Fallout 3 is one of the best games ever. I seriously cannot remember the last time I've felt so enthralled in a gaming experience. I know that's a big statement and to be honest I can't be arsed to justify myself at the moment, but I'll probably write a review of sorts shortly to explain why exactly I liked it so much.

its a favorite genra of mine for that reason. you know your getting hours out of each one, hell, with alot of games being done in about 20 hours, your paying £2 an hour, might as well get better value for money. i also like the tactical side of rpgs, and the story driven-ness. that said, after a few rpgs, i need a dose of action. hence im on devil may cry 4 after oblivion and fallout.

Well I can only play RPGs every so often and yes you kinda get more for your money depends. Games with online and good multiplayer can actually last more time than RPGs. Also, other games can be much more fun than RPGs, I mean I really like shooters and action/adventure but Fallout is an exceptional case where I think it just looked very good. (helps that it has VATS - when I saw that in the videos I thought 'I'm getting that!')

I realised how great this game was when I spent a whole two-three days on it, ignoring friends, bathing, and gym commitments. Only the great games give me this issue of addiction.

Anyway, my progress has been rapid with me getting the power armour, a Plasma Rifle and a sidekick in the form of Paladin Cross yesterday. Desperate to try out my new arsenal, I hunted some usual areas until I found some Talon Mercenaries. I don't know if it's the -2 AGL from the power armour (heavily affecting my small arms and sneak skills) but its much harder for my character to hit others in VATS mode. I just think the game has gotten a little harder thanks to the story.

Anyways, with I toting a Plasma Rifle, and cross brandishing a Gatling gun, i expected the battle to be all but won. Unfortunately, the mercs had very good cover with a high vantage point, and we were placed next to 3 cars, a mistake I only noticed just before the blew up.

After a few barrel rolls and some fantastic effects, i found my character semi drowning in the water below the pier we had been in. When he came to his senses I was forced to swim to the other side to get myself out of the water. I was then attacked by a center (quickly reduced to a pile of ash) and a Mireluck which was taken care of by the handy mysterious stranger. A shame that Cross died while this happened forcing me to reload.

Brilliant way to end my long session of Fallout3 yesterday though! :D
