Rowan Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 So the earphones that came with my Creative Zen have become worn out since there's an exposed section of wire plus the sound has stopped working properly (see pic). And unfortunately Creative won't replace them since apparently the warrenty only covers regular damage and not physical (even though the headphones are less than a year old) So I am now in the hunt for a new pair of headphones/earphones to replace them. Price wise I am looking at no more than £20, they also need to be quite durable as I use it on the bus everyday and I like to wrap the wire round the case of the Zen to keep things tidy. So any ideas?
S.C.G Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Sennheiser CX500 earphones... Credit goes to Dyson for recomending them to me when I was looking for a pair as they are excellent, £49.99 rrp on Play or something but check on eBay and you can get them for £20. The quality from them I found to be most excellent. ^^
Rummy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I bought some cheapass earphones on ebay for like 6p with postage once because two pairs of nokia ones fell apart within about 2 weeks each. I still have the 6p pair, and sure the quality probably ain't anywhere near the best, but if you ain't bothered about it then I'd just say get a cheapy pair for taking out and about, I find they always tend to break...eventually.

Shorty Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 some terrible reviews for the CX 500s on amazon o_o mostly from people who had the 300s first... http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/product/B000VRBLMS/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_1/280-6508740-3178700?_encoding=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar
Calza Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 There is also the fact that a lot of the Sennheiser CX3/500 that are on eBay and Amazon marketplace are fakes.
Raining_again Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 There is also the fact that a lot of the Sennheiser CX3/500 that are on eBay and Amazon marketplace are fakes. Hit the head right on the nail. I'd only buy seinnheisers from reputable companies - like directly off the company, amazon (non-marketplace) etc. I have the cans (HD 215), and I can say the legit ones are out of this world in terms of quality. Really is a shame because people may actually think the legit ones are terrible.
nightwolf Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Besides it's not like buying directly from them are that much more expensive!
S.C.G Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Besides it's not like buying directly from them are that much more expensive! Depends... I got my Sennheisers which I'm now certain are genuine from eBay for just under £20... Play.com price? £50, so sometimes eBay pays off if your sure your not being sold a fake.

It does indeed, but not everybody is so happy with buying from eBay, so it's always nice to know it isn't too bad if you buy directly.
Sheikah Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Depends... I got my Sennheisers which I'm now certain are genuine from eBay for just under £20 I have to say, I find it very unlikely they are genuine for that price since they would be selling real ones at a loss or barely scraping a profit. The counterfeits are kind of hard to tell apparently.

Play.com price? £50, so sometimes eBay pays off if your sure your not being sold a fake. I got some CX500s a couple of days ago from ebay, total price was £18 with P&P. And they're real. Also, a year ago i got some CX 300s from ebay for £12 and they were real. Just make sure you check the seller feedback and make sure they've not only been on ebay for the past week.
S.C.G Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Yeah they were froma reputable seller and the quality of them just seems too good for them to be fake and even if they were (which I'm pretty sure they aren't) the sound quality is awesome and so is the build of them, so yeah, really awesome for the price.
