Bren Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Saw this on gamestation and thought someone here would most probably want it, not my thing, but quite cool if it really is an exclusive to just gamestation. Comes with the limited edition game which means you'll also get a gold lancer when you play online. The one without gold that America is getting looks better imo. http://www.gamestation.co.uk/product.asp?id=man0304
Tellyn Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Good for collectors, but I wish companies would stop trying to outdo each other with the collector's editions. Small bonuses such as artbooks and a mini souvenir from the game, maybe some in-game items too, are cool, not the stuff that adds almost £90 on to the RRP.

Yeh, in fairness what you get for the extra cash is an absolute ripoff. Here they're blatantly giving the limited edition owners a feel of elitism for having something over other players in-game. Oh, and a crappy looking gun. Other seasoned offenders are the £15 extra limited editions in a 'tin box' (ZOMG!! Perfect for my sandwhiches!) with a DVD of 'how they made the game'.
Guest Stefkov Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 That looks pretty shit tbh. £130 is too much just for some plastic painted with gold paint and an in game gun. What's so bad about the tin box and getting a DVD with how the games made. Maybe some people actually find that interesting?
Sheikah Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 What's so bad about the tin box and getting a DVD with how the games made. Maybe some people actually find that interesting? Games don't need to come in tins, and they definitely don't need to cost that much more if they do (tin isn't exactly expensive). It seemed good at first, then every limited edition game and his wife started using tins and it got old quickly. How they made the game...well some may like them, but most games are usually made in the same way.
S.C.G Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Generally the price difference between regular and limited editions pricing is about £5 on Play.com... *shrugs* doesn't make much odds in those instances, each to their own.

True, but I've started seeing a few of these 'mega' editions lately. The £80 Play.com MGS4 edition was frankly excessive, but this offer is just taking the piss. I wouldn't mind actually having some of these limited editions (particularly the OST that came with the MGS4 one) if the price didn't go so high sometimes.
Bren Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 How they made the game...well some may like them, but most games are usually made in the same way. its interestin to watch that shit, helps me out in college n all, bit of insight into how the people who make the best games actually do it. Can learn a lot if its do with your future (hopefully) job lol
Ramar Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I'm not going to fall for this, last special edition I bought was GTA IV and I felt like a right mug upon opening it. Though the Halo 3 one was cool, the added dvd suprisingly was a good watch.

Shorty Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 That gold lancer looks nasty o_o I've pre-ordered the ltd edition game because it's a fair price in a few places (<£40, a lot of high street stores will be selling the regular game at that price) but that's a crazy price for an ugly paperweight.
Dyson Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I actually really like the GTA4 special edition. I've used the bag and the safebox a lot. The soundtrack wasn't that great though, and I've looked through the artbook once and filed it away somewhere.
Guest Stefkov Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I think the worst special edition has to have been the Halo 3 Legendary edition. £70 for a helmet that's just a display piece. At least with the gta stuff you can use them practically for some things. The helmet didn't even fit on my neighbours cat's head. Now it's collecting dust. If this was a gold plater working nerf gun modded to look like a lancer; then it would be worth £130. Thinking about it, it's the same price as Rock Band and you get 3 functioning accesories with RB...wow.
