Broadband Speed Test Results

Recommended Posts

Ive been having a bit of trouble with my speed since I switched ISPs.

I connect at atbout 2meg but when I do a speed test it tells me im connected at about 480k.

Now I just did a speed test with the bt one and got these results:

Your DSL connection rate: 1920 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)

IP profile for your line is - 500 kbps

Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 458 kbps

So I wanted to check with someone who might know better, does this mean that either BT or my ISP are capping my line at 500K and this is why my speed isnt what it should be?

We have tried ringing the ISP but they werent too much help and apparently are ringing back tomorrow.

You do realise that your 2meg is based on your DS and not your US, right?

I believe he's probably referring to that line about actual throughput achieved, however such termage is completely lost upon me!

Ukerna is...?

Is the same thing as:

JANET(UK) is the trading name for the JNT Association, which since 1994 has had responsibility for the management of the United Kingdom’s Higher Education networking programme.

So I assume it's a university connection.

I have a 3Mb connection......but I only get 768K down. :(

It's something wrong with the ISPs line though and nothing on my end.
