Legalising Weed In The UK

Recommended Posts

I'm quite sick of this argument but I shall put a quick to cents in.

It shouldn't be legalised, even if it was, it'd be taxed to hell and I'm more than certain that people would still go to dealers than stores for that very reason.

God knows I would if I smoked weed.

Well they won't, but the current legal status of the stuff is completely out of proportion to the effects and dangers it poses. That said, it's not like it's completely safe like some will tell you. Smoking too much does fuck your head up, it effects you longer than you think and the actually smoking (without filters) is far worse than smoking fags.

I would be suprised if it ever was as i'm pretty sure they are increased it to a class B drug again.

My answer would also be NO, i dont think it should. Might be good for some people but there is a portion of ppl who start this as a fun drug and before they know it there HIV positive with heroin needles sticking out of them.

The poverty industry is already in full course with alcohol, cigs, porn, payday advances, and a number of other things. The poor gets poorer with their addictions and the government continues to tax the hell out of all of them. The rich continues to profit off of the poor's lack of discipline and the rest is as predictable as it comes. Although the above applies to America, I'm not too sure about the U.K. though.

I don't care if they do it or they don't, this is no better than anything else we've sold to people. There are choices in life, abuse them and there are consequences. If people want to profit from it, so be it. I'm sadden people would defend this logic but they exist and as long as it exists, will continue to profit off of people's addictions.

Legalise them all to fuck.

Sure alcohol does as much damage as the rest of them, and its perfectly legal :indeed:

and no... I'm not being serious.

that's probably about 5 people ever.

Correlation does not equal causation, oui? Someone heading for smack is, I think we can all agree, heading for smack. You can't compare pot to heroin, and there's no reason to say the lesser drug puts you on the path to class A use.

Even if there was, it's an argument for legalisation, not against. Take it out the hands of dealers pushing hard drugs.

The poor are poor because they have no money, not because of their vices. Rich people have as many or more vices.

I've been more against the legalization of it, but now I can't really see much reason for it to be illegal while alcohol isn't and drunk people are more dangerous than someone that's high.

Sooo bored of this discussion.

It's better in the short term than other 'class anything' drugs, but in the long term can fuck with your mind, especially if you get addicted to it. I guess now i would like it to be legalised, so the government can tax the fuck out of it and make the drug dealers get proper jobs.

Prostitution should also be legalised.

That's actually a really interesting point that I've never thought of before.

I don't think it should be because its legitimizing it as an ok thing to do by the government. Not that I'm saying people should be hunted down by riot police who do it but it can screw people up pretty badly and cause extreme lethargy.

Yes, but its funny how alot of people have money to buy things like fireworks, cigarettes, booze, ect. and then come to you begging for money. When you look in the lines for food-banks, ect. about every second person is smoking. If they didn't smoke they probably could afford groceries. And rich people can afford to have vices.

Now, about weed legalization. I don't think it should be done anywhere. My area has a big problem with it, especially in the schools. If they legalized it, it would just get worse.

TBH I think they should ban any smoking in public. Its disgusting to walk down the street be constantly smell it.

If it was guaranteed to be proper shit and taxed appropriately then there is no reason for it not to be. I absolutely hate the I know someone who smoked a spliff 5 years ago and now they're a smack head argument. I know someone who drank a pint once and now they're an alcoholic but alcohol is still legal. In fact I know somebody who had a heart attack who ate a cheeseburger in the past shall we make that illegal as well.

That's just what we need, a butch of blithering stoned idiots all getting the muchies at 3 in the morning only to find they are too "out of it" to do anything. A great step forward for humanity!

as opposed to some drunken thugs getting out of a club and caving someone's face in with their boots for laughs, right?

... that really had nothing to do with what I was saying. It wasn't an either/or situation.

Simple answer?

No.

My brother and his mates all do the stuff. Fucking stinks. It's not meant to be addictive, but my brother "had top have one" when he woke me up to let him in at 2:20 am. And because our rooms are next to each other, with the delightful heat resulting in my window being open. I was treated to the glorious smell of ganja for 20-30 minutes.

I was just pointing out that there's already far more dangerous legal drugs, and that really, the munchies is hardly a step backwards from shit like that.

Well I suppose if you look at the bigger picture this can result in regular users turning into lazy gits whose crap diet turns their body into a most unattractive proposition. And you know how I feel about attractiveness, I'm simply rather shallow.

No.

It smells horrid.

I found when it's smoked just on its own it smells gorgeous, none of this putting tobacco in crap.

I agree with dan on this one, there are worse legal drugs than weed, although neither side are brilliant to be taking, regardless. In my own opinion I'd much rather some kid have the munchies, than come down my street at 3am in their stupid fits and throw up everywhere...because of alcohol.

Hmm, if it were legalised, what age limit do you reckon would be placed? Or what would you deem suitable?

Smoking in the UK is 16, yet you have to be 18 to buy them, Does this mean weed would be the same, or would you class it as 18 because of alcohol?

Why should it be legalized because there are worse things that are legal. The original law was put in place because it was getting to be a major problem.

It's not that it shouldn't as you are correct, but the problem is the taxing of it and the fact about smoking tobacco never mind weed.

Although it seems silly to re-class weed to a higher level, like it really changes peoples mind about it
