Official Issues and Problems Thread

Recently my opera on Wii has been crashing anybody had the same problem? One person I talked to suggested cache over load, but somebody else said they had streamed a 2hour movie no problems, so the only thing I can think of is beta instability? Any ideas people?

Well my problems continue definitly think it is overheating. My wii randomly crashes, stops dead with a dull buzzing noise, but sometimes it will be weeks between crashes. which makes me think it I send it to Nintendo they will just send it back cos it won't crash. But when it does crash it will do it again minutes after, a lot of times, so surely that would point to overheating?

So I've tried moving it, so its on its own and has plenty of space, but still seems to do it from time to time, anyone else got any suggestions.

24 march our gaming club has an big event on this subject in the netherlands

here is the press release:

NiSuTe HDTV Expert Event The Netherlands (Text Dutch)

Saterday 24 March NiSuTe Europe will have an expert event again!

Wanneer: Zaterdag 24 Maart

Waar: Expert Bredaseweg 110, 5038 NJ Tilburg

I finally got a component cable. I ordered one months ago from http://www.nedgame.nl but they still didn't have it in stock, so i went to some local gamestores and found one, the salesman told me I was very lucky because they're pratically sold out all the time :P

It's such a big difference when compared to the composite cable (on my HDTV)! I have to admit I never connected my Wii to my own tv until I had the component cable (had it downstairs all the time connected to a 'normal' tv), but that was because I knew it would look as terrible as the image I get from my gamecube with a composite cable.

Everyone with an HDTV should get the component cable, really, it makes a HUGE difference :)

It means you've got 3/4 or 3 quarters of your battery power left. :)

(you were probably joking, right?)

Just bought a 32" Samsung HDTV, bit disappointed as the picture for my Wii looks worse than on my 24" Sony that's like nearly ten years old. I have it rigged up via RGB, does a component cable make a good bit of difference? I was looking forward to seeing a nice, crisp Zelda but it looks awful.

Any help with TV/Wii settings or cable advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Samsung are not famous for their upscaling chips, they're mostly entry level TV's after all.

The only thing you can do to make it look a little better is reduce the TV sharpness (there should be options for that) so the jaggies disappear.

Not much else to do though.

I don't think it's worth the upgrade since you already have RGB, but component would enable 843x480 progressive instead of 640x480 interlaced; should be a improvement (but not worth £19/30€ IMO).

Is it normal for NES, SNES and Mega Drive games to just be a fuzzy green screen when using component cables?

You can always buy them from play-asia, $9.90!

I bought them and it only cost me.. 10.30€ (delivery costs included)

Is Nintendo customer support still 0870 6060 247? Been trying to call them this morning and it just rings and rings. Unless they're not open at 9:45 on a weekday, although the 247 at the end of the number would at least suggest it's a 24 hour line.

EDIT: Sod it, sent them an email instead.

Should I request a new cable from Nintendo, then?

I'm having the EXACT same problem, I just bought a points card today (in Australia) and i'm getting that. I searched the error code and Nintendo.com says its a problem with my credit card which i'm not even using one. This forum and that post above me was the only thing to come up in google search about it.

I was playing on my 360 last night and noticed that the orange stand by light on my Wii suddenly turned a bright red so I put the machine on and then off again and it returned to orange. Is this normal as I havent noticed this before?
