Point & Click Games ***With Human Avatar***?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your suggestions, MORE, but remember, I am particularly interested in games that have real humans in the game ala the screens i've posted above as well as a few of the recommendations in particular fulfilling the requirement :)

It'd be cool if this forum had a hugging smiley...

When i was little it seemed like such a scary game :p, then again, i never actually played it.

Don't think anyones mentioned this one, but it is one of my all time favourite games.

The Last Express!, man the amount of times I have completed this game. I absolutely love it!

And ofcourse the Broken Sword series, Runaway, Still Life, Blade Runner and Monkey Island games.

Speaking of wich, Sam and Max episode 4 is available for FREE on Steam, defiantly worth getting!

I see no one has mentioned Sam & Max Hit the Road, which is one of the best and funniest adventures I've played. The newer episodic ones by Telltale are good as well.

The last two Monkey Island games and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey are classics.

Point and click games tell such great stories and with atleast 2 more Dreamfall games in development, the future is bright even if we'll never get another MI...

The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is the one that has a shooting chance of apearing on the Virtual Console

Maniac Mansion

The game that came before Day Of The Tentacle, which conisidentally is included with Day Of The Tentacle. Which is a great game also, as many have said here.

Also Neverhood, which is more of a clay-motion, but I played recently and thought was pretty good.

Petey I think most people have been reluctant to mention the type of games your after (FMV) because they were mostly rubbish. They came about when games started comming out on CD, and are looked back upon as a pretty embarising period of gaming history.

Dev's went from having to squeeze games into 10Mb on 5 floppy disks to having 700Mb to play around with. They filled it all with video that didn't really work, it was graphics over gameplay all over again.

Toonstruck was great because it borrowed from Monkey Island and had some great voice work. Most of the FMV or Interactive Movies as they were advertised used D list actors and bad special effects.

I finally know what the genre is!!! :D

Already found new ones not mentioned here such as Night Trap...

A LIST ON WIKIPEDIA!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FMV_game#List_of_FMV_games

Thank you all for your contribution, especially Darth-Marximus for defining the specific genre i'm after!!!

No probs Petey - glad to be of service!

I must say that many people responded to this thread and mentioned a lot of classic games such as the mighty Sam & Max. The only reason games such as these were not inlcuded in my own list is that Petey was looking for games where the main protagonist was specifically "human" ie not not Animal, Vegtable or Mineral.

Although Petey I must say if you can acquire these games too I (along with many others) I would def recommend them. Ebay should see you good - especially for you FMV genre.

Peace

Was Temujin already mentioned? It plays a bit like the 7th guest in that you have to walk around in a museum solving puzzles (first person view), with the other people present being portrayed by real actors. Also: The Journeyman Project (1, 2 and 3), Beyond Zork, Zork Nemesis and Zork the Grand Inquisitor.

Check out 5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Sceptic, Trilby's Notes and 6 Days a Sacrifice. They make up the Chzo Mythos and they're really high good freeware point n click adventures with a good story, get em here:

I actually found Trilby's Notes and 6 Days a Sacrifice pretty scary, it's pretty impressive how well the developer did them :D

It might also be worth checking out the Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney/Apollo Justice series on DS, as I played through them I began to realise they're actually somewhat similar to the classic point n click adventures.

I'd recommend the monkey island games and indiana jones and the fate of Atlantis, obviously, and Grim Fandango. The Dig by Lucas Arts is pretty good, too.
