Odin Sphere was only released in Japan and the US in May. But there's a good chance it will still be released in Europe as a lot of Atlus games are. I hope this one will be brought over as well.

Edit: another title by them Grim Grimoire will be released in Europe.

Now this is what im talking about. Proper third party support. Original, great looking and some old-school type gameplay mixed in between. Lovely!

Pixel porn.

What was the gameplay like in Odin Sphere?

2D Sidescroller Action RPG, that's really the best way to describe it I can find.

In the RPG world... combats kinda like Tales of Phantasia, but... that's not only the battle system, it's the whole game, set into that perspective and (sidescrolling) world. Or, if you're proeminent with shady Japanese-only RPG's... Odin Sphere is just like Princess Crown taken further, I've actually yet to play Odin, but I've played Princess Crown.

BTW, am I the only one to find it suspicious that one week prior to TGS there's been two J-RPG's revealed for the Wii? Is there something coming that would overshadow them at the event? I hope so. :D

I don't really know what to expect from a 2D side-scrolling RPG.. Unless it slightly resembles Zelda II? Anyway, RPG's always have my interest. And the artwork looks fantastic.. Which makes me wonder though, will it see an European release?

Hmmm... In a way, I guess, but Zelda 2 was too... how do you say it... robotic, the animation and things you could do, so it was frustrating, thing of the action in this one more like a beat them up.

Also Odin Sphere/Princess Crown has more RPG elements to it since you do stuff like storing items, managing inventory, healing HP, items who cause damage in the enemies, being able to block attacks, leveling up, etc

Definetly (I Hope) Odin Sphere is still coming for Europe this year, and it sold well in US (well, more than in Japan, so it's viable)

That only leaves us the question of who will act as a publisher since in Japan this game is being budgeted and published by Marvelous (Odin was by Atlus even in Japan) but... Atlus USA does translation works and actually localized and published Marvelous games before... so I'm going with that, it's likely to say the least (even because Atlus USA clearly loves the game and they do have input on the games they pick up).

Knowing Atlus... it'll come eventually but could take a while for Europe. (Trauma Center: Second Opinion Wii says hi)

Risings Star Games is a viable option, as they have published quite a few games here in Europe already, and will publish Luminous Arc, a game by Marvelous, in October, which shows that they hardly delay games.

You're right, for Europe they really are (for US unless I'm mistaken they're not?) Still... I'd trust them to release over here a lot faster than Atlus.

It's Atlus who's publishing Luminous Arc in US too, so perhaps they have some kind of good relations with rising star games already?

First trailer and a few screens here. It looks amazing.

Just watched it and it looks fantastic. This is what developers can do if they put their minds to it and stop following the norm by giving us generic normal looking titles. Im still unsure whether we will see this over here though :(

Marvelous Interactive along with Bergsala AB(distributor of Nintendo games in Scandinavia) formed Rising Star to publish games in Europe that is too risky for other publishers.

Really? I didn't know that, considering that I have visited Bergsala's headquarters at least once in the recent half year.

TGS just got a lot more interesting:

Whatever happened to that Vanillaware game Oboro Muramasa Youtoden that we saw at Tokyo Game Show?

Yasuhiro Wada: Come to Tokyo Game Show and you can see it. We don’t know if it will be playable, but we are talking about it. You should be able to see new videos at the event.
