Awesome! Worms is a great game, here's hoping it's 2D.

From the press release:

a new visual style that abandons the traditional drawn approach and replaces it with a distinctive style inspired by classic Sci-Fi looks

I don't recall the 3D ones having a "drawn" visual style. That sounds more like the 2D ones.

Probably they mean the comic look or something. I liked Worms 4 because in 3D tactical gaming is much more sophisticated.

I hope for a Worms 4 in a 50s SciFi setting with less of a cartoony look but more dark and serious theme.

I hope it is 2D aswell. It's not one of those games I would probably go out and buy (not full price anyway) but I imagine it could be fun. I would assume the Wii controls will involve moving the reticle but aiming the remote..

fantastic a 2d one. Let's hope for gorgeous visuals.

Sometimes games should not even try 3d. i mean A 2d sonic game on the wii I would kill for.

Valid point

This better not suck...

It's a worst case scenario.

My hope is that, being a Wii exclusive, this Worms will be an attempt to tap into the wider demographic of the Wii meaning they revert back to good old 2D.

This could well be very interesting, if the new style manages to keep the basic pick up and play fun of worms as well as giving us some awesome online fun we could well be looking at a surprisingly big title here!

I hope this has the same basic control of worms, but with IR Pointer aiming, then hold button and do gesture to use the weapon.

Some cool gestures would be

- Throwing motion for grenades (perhaps speed = power)

- Using remote to steer a super sheep

- Swing Baseball bat

- To "steer" from a parachute

- My imagination is a bit short...can't think of much else.

Oh, wait:

PROD!!

Prodding would be even more satisfying with motion controls.

Great idea, the best way to humiliate your opponent :p

Funny how Team17 haven't actually made a new franchise outside of Worms for a decade...

Ah well, stick to what they're good at i guess.

3D worms was horrible. When I went to trade it in they would only give me 50p for it. Dire, dire game when you consider the greatness of it's roots.

If this is just worms 3D with some Sci-Fi backdrops it just proves the developers arn't taking the Wii userbase seriously.

If it stays exclusive I migth buy it. I hope for 2D, I haven't tried the 3D games but 2D looks more fun.

Konami are Hudson's parent company (though Hudson do publish most of their games on their own).

Well then, I think we've just got another great Wii game on our hands :).

I think I spent 2 years playing worms 2 in my childhood :/.
