Eddage
I'm with Endsleigh at the moment, pretty cheap especially for students (although I'm not actually a student any more). You could try a search on something like confused.com, it'll tell you the best deals from a load of providers (and no, I don't work for them)! Rapture1984
Confused.com? I was with Liverpool Victoria when I first started and they seemed quite reasonable for first time drivers. I been driving about 4 years and with Admiral at the mo.
welsh_gamer
I've heard good thing about Tesco car insurance but I'm not aware of any quotes. I'm with Norwich Union for £590 a year.
Tom
I work for Endsleigh (go Raw ) and we are usually good for young drivers. When we aren't we pass you through to a company called call connections. They are like confused.com, but more accurate and telephone based. Their number is 0845 2305492. Should get you a very good deal.
Retro_Link
Yeah try Ensleigh, they tend to be good!
Oli1983uk
I have found direct line the cheapest I have found, confused.com was quoting me close to a £1000 over what direct line was quoting.
Tom
its worth noting that confused.com isn;t as impartial as claimed - it's actually owned by admiral, so make sure you take quotes from there with a pinch of salt and actually call the top 3-5 on the list to get the quotes confirmed. And of course, don't only use them, as has been already noted, direct line are very good and not listed on there, as are many more specialist insurers. Rummy
Other than confused, is there a good place that will compare various insurance quotes? I'm hopefully gonna be driving in a few months, and plan on getting my own car, only I don't know much about buying cars or insurance

Twozzok
How cheap are swift? My dad says they're really cheap, but they're still adding over £1k to put me on his insurance. It just seems a bit much, but then I know jack shit about car insurance :/
LegoMan1031
Well im a young driver (19), my first year tesco car insurance gave me the best quote(by far!) but for my second year (which im on at the moment) churchill gave me the best quote (with the 1 yr no claims of course). My advice would be just get loads of quotes from different places. I have never trusted those comparision sites anyway. I just got quotes from places ppl would recommend and some that i have heard off and find the best one that way. It takes time but it will be worth it in the end, the difference in some quotes is amazing. Direct line are good like previously mentioned. (but churchill quoted me about £100 cheaper per annum compared to them)

ReZourceman
Id heard Confused was a bit dodgy, so checked a few that they quoted like Hastings and such (And they were all identical), aswell as going to top folks like Direct Line. Anyway for me Quinn Direct came out.
Platty
Admiral gave me a cheap quote, infact around £200 cheaper than most places. Give them a try. If not go through the AA. They are pretty good at finding cheap insurance for you, I have used them for a few years now and always been happy.
er-no
Co-op insurance gave me a sily low quote a couple of years ago. I remember once receiving a quote for £3600 for my first year of driving (five years ago now :S)

Noodleman
I'm with RAC at the moment, was over £100 cheaper then anywhere else and came with free breakdown cover. Think it was about £750 last year for my Saxo, but I live in Essex so it puts the price up annoyingly

Tom
Yikes, what car was that?! I have quoted a 17 year old £15,000 once on a BMW. Needless to say the phone call ended pretty quickly after that point. Shockingly, £3,600 isn't as astronomical as it sounds. I have sold quite a few policies in that sort of region.
