What are you waiting for? (rant)

Does anybody else here not have a Wii yet, like me? I havent bought a game in ages.. The last 2 games I bought were Resident Evil 2 & 3 for the Dreamcast a week ago and I havent bought a new game since Christmas, because the Gamecube has been dead for ages. I havent even bothered to buy Zelda because it just looks so dated compared to my first impressions back in 2005. I'll probably buy it in 10-15 years time when its aged graphics suit it a bit more.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy and read the news on websites like Cubed3 every day, but the death of the Cube has led to me having little to no interest in playing games. Nothing about the Wii interests me at all, but I really want to be enticed by it because I love Nintendo and bought around 50 games for the GameCube.

What are other non-Wii owners waiting for? I'm probably not in the minority when I say that I'm waiting for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl. I want REAL games. I'd kill for a new F-Zero, pushing the Wii to its limits or a port of Resident Evil 5. I've completed Resident Evil 4 6 times.... Forever Blue sounds great, but i've got a feeling that its going to suck, like Project Hammer.

I have high hopes for E3 and if nothing big is announced in the next few months, I'm just going to stop playing games altogether...that's not a threat, it's just how the Wii and Nintendo makes me feel about games.:(

"I like my Wii."

What games do you play on it? Games like Red Steel and Sonic seem to be the gaming versions of Marmite, then you've got a tonne of PS2 ports by Ubisoft and EA.

Red Steel 2 will probably be great.

Get strikers. It's a 'real' game. But otherwise what you have to remember is bad as it can be we have better games than what the ps3 has but like the ds we must wait till Pre christmas peroid for the goods

Remember for ds we got advanced wars and mario kart and after that the ds was on fire and still is now. That is what's going to happen with the wii.

I'm waiting for Super Paper mario to come out and Brawl's release date. I'm thinking that if SSBB dosnt get a 2007 release date, I'll import a Wii instead.

Aside from that, last Saturday was the first time in 2 months I'd seen any Wii's for sale at my local HMV...and as I left the store, a member of staff walked outside with a pen and wrote "LAST ONE LEFT" on a board they had put up to show they had Wii's in stock.

No More Heroes, Resi 4: Wii Edition, Manhunt 2, Umbrella Chronicles, FF:CC, Disaster; they're all real games are coming soon.

And out now? Godfather got good reviews, Strikers looks fab, TP is awesome, Eledees look interesting. The problem is, is that the Wii's success caught developers off gaurd; no one thought it would do so well.

patience...

Also, I don't own a Wii yet, but i'm getting one soon, mainly because of Resi 4 and Manhunt. Finally, real games :D

I don't have a Wii yet.

My reasons are that 1) I've had a lot of Uni work and therefore not that much spare time to spend on games 2) I'm waiting for more games to be released.

If I'd bought a Wii from the start I would probably have also bought a fair few games that I wouldn't have otherwise, just to have something to play; games like Super Monkey Ball, Sonic, Red Steel etc...

However now that I've waited a while I'm much more excited about getting a Wii and I can get some really great games straight away.

Also, Nintendo's AAA games are much closer now and the Virtual Console has quite a lot to offer.

I'll probably get a Wii over the summer.

Also thinking about getting a 360 over the summer, now that games like Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect etc... are that bit closer and there are plenty of 360 games to catch up on!

It would be cool if they made a Wii version of Advance Wars (rather than Battalion Wars), kind of like the way they made a Warioware for the Gamecube. Intelligent systems are amazing.

That's true i'd like it but you know what most people will say it's a handheld game.........even though famicom wars wasn't but i would love to see it. i also want a wii phoenix wright.

You should do it.

Wiiless too. For many reasons, lack of money, lack of interest, new PC and good games for DS, PC and even Gamecube (the ones I haven't played yet). And having Zelda for the cube was also a factor.

I will probably get one, when Smash or Metroid come out.

how can you hate project hammer if you've never played it and also Zelda isn't about the grafics.

Dont you just go around hitting things with a hammer? It sounds like they are just designing a game around a way to use the Wii remote, rather than starting off with an idea for a great game.

how do you buy games in malaysia?

Oops, sorry. Im actually British. Im not sure where Malaysians buy games. When I was there last summer, the only games I could see were PS2 games and fake GBA games being sold on market stalls in shopping centres. The blur albums I bought while there were imported from the UK and I even bought an imported copy of Edge magazine.:heh: I guess that Malaysia doesnt have its own suppliers. I left all my games at home and had nothing but Final Fantasy 1&2 and my DS for a month. Im going again this November and I bet that there are some stores in KL.

its a normal action game with a hammer as your weapon

i'm sure there's a story or something

you can't judge by the little amount of media that has been released about it

Of course you're not going to like the games if you're diminishing every game as 'PS2 port' or 'gaming versions of marmite'.

The Wii is a state of mind :heh:

To be honest I don't have that many games either, but I knew that was going to happen so I'm not really dissappointed.

I think it's wrong to dismiss Project HAMMER as boring when there has been little information about it. Is ExciteTruck boring just because it's a racer? No, it's fun, fast, and pretty fluid, so it's far from boring.

So far, I've got: Zelda, Monkey Ball, WiiPlay, ExciteTruck, Rayman and the recently release Mario Strikers. So far, I have only been disappointed with the one title, and that's Monkey Ball. The multiplayer is just so disappointing compared to previous efforts.

However, looking at my list, I can see members of this board only buying one: Zelda. Why? Because, to them, the rest are half-arsed efforts, mini-game rubbish or a shitty sport with a shitty online system.

Bollocks to all that. These are all fun games in their own right. It's amazing how so many people dismiss Wii games from the start compared to other systems. As a forum, I think we must have converted a few dozen people or so into just playing ExciteTruck, and those that did play it said they very much enjoyed what they played.

My advice: it's better to go into a game with low expectations, then big surprises occur. I didn't expect Strikers or ExciteTruck, or Rayman to be this fun.

There are still games that I have yet to purchase but desperately want. Red Steel is one of them, as I enjoyed what I did play of it. SSX is another, as is Sonic. Eledees is quickly storming to the top of that list as well.

Do eet naw!

I have a wii but i don't have many games for it, but i know that some great games are coming out for it so I'm waiting for those. In the mean time i'm playing some wii games that i might not have bought, if the most anticipated games like mario galaxy and smash bros were out already and would've got over looked like mario strikers which is a excellent game. :D

Also other games like Rayman and Excite truck which are really fun games.

The only mistake i made was buying need for speed carbon which turned out dull. ( i took it back and bought a ds game)

I can understand your reasoning to an extent.

How about the VC? Does that not interest you at all?
