Smiter
http://kotaku.com/gaming/mustard/madden-08-on-wii-surprisingly-generous-263894.php I didn't mind Madden on the Wii. While it's as lazy and uninspired in the progress department as its next-gen bretheren, it's still got one of the best uses of waggle we've seen on the Wii. So I was probably going to give Madden 08 a look anyways. Seeing this new batch of details from the latest Nintendo Power, I'll still look. Just a little harder. # Real-time ESPN ticker updates # Online tournaments # Worldwide quickplay multiplayer matches # Promised roster updates not just for the 2008 season, but 2009 as well # Mini-game party mode, with 22 mini-games # Miis are used in min-games Come on. Admit it. You're interested. Either for the Miis, the bonanza (relative to the Wii) of online stuff or the roster updates (something EA's traditionally shied away from), this has you thinking. Pondering. Stroking your little chin-beard. It's on Go Nintendo as well: http://gonintendo.com/?p=18635 - EA “My Profile” when online, which includes country of origin, win/loss record, defensive percentage, overall ranking, and 5-star reputation score - Promised downloadable content such as roster updates planned for late 2008, early 2009 - Friend Code Implementation: Unknown as of right now, interface will be similar from other versions. Wii players will be able to randomly play against an opponent. - No voice chat, but will offer EA’s instant-messaging system
ThePigMarcher
Simply put , best news ever. Really seems as though EA are fully embacing the online functions too , will just have to spend my life avoiding Americans who disconnect as the slighest whiff of being beaten at their own game. gaggle64
My only wish is that they let us use Miis in the main game. I just despertaly want to see Jean Luc Picard sacking Tony Blair.

DCK
Yeah, FIFA 08 has online modes too. Nintendo has handed out network development tools to (some) developers, which is a good thing. I hope that Konami (Pro Evolution Soccer) and Ubisoft (Red Steel 2) have the capability to make online games now as well.
Aimless
I'm not interested in this game at all as it isn't my sort of thing, but I'm pleased about the Mii integration. By rights they should make an appearance in most Wii games, so it's good to see them creeping into third-party titles.
Guest Stefkov
Sounds good. After seeing how good Smash bros can be with the remote this could be quite fun.
Demuwan
I own Madden 07 and that is quite frankly one of the best Wii games available for purchase and arguably the best multiplayer experience on wii (Wii Sports excluded) , so the addition of online has just made this franchise even sweeter. IMJ
Wow, EA is going all out Gotta admit, EA is quickly becoming one of the better third party publishers on Wii. Take note Ubi

Fierce_LiNk
I was thinking about getting Madden for Wii, but I think I'll hold out for the new version now. Will it still feature the same awesome control system in the current version?

Will it still feature the same awesome control system in the current version? Thats exactly what I'm going to do aswell I would presume it will have the same controls but maybe a little more tweaked/optimized now they know what they're doing. ThePigMarcher
I don't see any reason why the would change the controls , in fact , they would be crazy to. The offense and kicking controls are spot on but maybe the defensive side of things could do with a bit of tweaking as there can sometimes be a feeling of non-involvement. But thinking about it , I don't really see how they could get the same level of immersion on defense. I am curious about the roster updates for 2009 , does this mean that EA are possibly going to miss a version , especially as 2010 (I believe) is when the exclusive license runs out. Maybe they feel that the game will need a complete overhaul with increased competition.
