PRESS RELEASE

(Amsterdam, The Netherlands) April 16, 2007 – Publisher Playlogic Entertainment, Inc. (OTCBB: PLGC) announces the acquisition of the survival horror game “Obscure II†from French development studio Hydravision. The sequel of the innovative Obscure© will be released in Q3 of this year on PC and PS2. The release for Wii is set for Q4.

Obscure II (PC, PS2, Wii) takes place two years after the gruesome events of the first game. The survivors have gone on to college and try to return to their normal lives. After the discovery of a beautiful but strange plant on school campus, events take a turn for the worse. Soon, the college students have to battle for survival once again.

Players of Obscure II can choose their character and one AI controlled sidekick. In total there are six playable characters, each with their own unique abilities. These can be switched at various points in the game. Due to the game’s unique co-op feature, friends can join at any time to team up and attempt surviving Obscure II together. There are many available weapons to keep the monsters that hunt you at bay. Light might be the players’ biggest ally because you never know what’s lurking in the shadows.

Stefan Layer, VP of Marketing & Sales of Playlogic International N.V: “I am extremely pleased that we added Obscure II to our line up. The first instalment was well received by both press and public. Hydravision has pushed the envelope with Obscure II and I am confident that the game will do even better then its predecessor.â€

Dominique Morel, CTO of Playlogic International N.V: “Obscure II displays refined talent in every aspect, from high attention to visual details and optimized control schemes; and a dense and intense in-game atmosphere. It’ is a thrilling and unique game with polished game features; an incredible experience.â€

Denis Potentier, CEO of Hydravision: “We are happy to work together with Playlogic on Obscure II; they meet all of our expectations and I'm sure that their expertise will be very positive for the game. The two-person cooperative gameplay of Obscure II has been fully optimized. I think players will love this game."

Features:

Adventure and action in a teen horror movie scenario 6 charismatic characters with unique skills Unique co-op mode: second player can join in at any time Highly detailed and rich 3D environment Find clues and solve various riddles and mysteries Vast variety of weapons and horrifying monsters Stunning soundtrack performed by the Boston Symphonic Orchestra and the Paris Opera Children’s Choir

Another day, another cross-platform game, but it's another "mature" title. What do you make of it?

Playlogic is notorious for its constant stream of crap... The only decent Dutch developer are Guerilla, the guys behind Killzone, but Sony owns them.

doesn't look too bad does it?
But I'd bet that's not the PS2 version, and that's what they're porting, I can feel it.

EDIT: searched for Obscure 1, I don't know if they are from PS2 or Xbox though, since both Xbox and PS2 section have the same images:

I'd expect worse from a no name developer, so at least on the graphics part they might actually not suck. (for PS2 standards)

The game took a 7.6 on IGN BTW.

7.0 Graphics

Solid character models and a great lighting are supplemented nicely by a smarter than usual fixed camera system. The muddy textures and somewhat stiff animations could have been better.

Anyway the good news is... the game was sold for $20.

Obscure was pretty fun. It's just innocent unspectacular fun really. Unless you absolutely have to have top production values and a life-altering experience it's well worth checking out.

The Suffering is cool too. 2 of those out, and with a bit of luck a third one could come out similarly on PS2 and Wii.

Yeah I played the first Suffering was pretty funny. Good game, great flashback scenes, and great insanity scenes (kinda: not like ED though.)

Don't forget it's a co-op game. The first one was fun in co-op.

If this is a bit better I'll buy it.

I had Obscure! It was actually pretty decent! CO-OP horror was great, but it was hard, and when a character died you couldn't get them back....good and bad really.

It sounds fairly interesting. Those screens, though probably from the PC version, don't look too shabby. The guy in the 3rd screen look like Billy from RE0, haha.

I'd say bring it on. The more the merrier. With a bit of luck, it'll turn out to be an enjoyable game.

Billy Coen?!!?

Yeah...1/2 the screenshots remind me of Resi0...whether that's a good or bad thing I don't know...

Hmmm looks like these guys actually might be prety good at setting a mood and stealing some good ideas from horror movies. I like that shot from the first game with the red lighting particularly. I'll keep my eye on this one.
