Been listening to the seminal What's Going On tonight. Such a terrific album.

It depends on what you want.

M favourite two are "Blackwater Park" wich is, as far as I'm concerned the full essence of what Opeth is... and "Damnation" wich is a totally acoustic album, and an astoundingly good one, at that.

I wouldn't class Blackwater Park as their best personally, even though it's probably the most balanced album they've put out along with Ghost Reveries... Sometimes I miss the 4 minute melodic acoustic interludes...That said...Leper Affinity, Bleak, The Drapery Falls...all in my top 10 without a doubt.

I think it would be easier for me to recommend individual songs rather than albums, as there is something from every album that absolutely slays me.

I had to post this, because it just sounds so random. She sounds...strange singing like that, rather like the random versions of girfriend she did. (German, Manderin, Japanese etc)

Avril Lavigne - Hot (Mandarin Version) (There's a Japanese one aswell)

The chorus sounds utterly mental.

Yeah, it's supposed to be a classic. I should listen to R.E.M. too according to my last.fm, but I forget.

Discovered Carcass a few months ago. Awesome Grindcore/Goregrind and in later albums Melodic Death band. Even better, they are re-uniting this year! Couldn't have picked a better time to start listening to them really.

Woo! My dad just gave me his record player!

I feel so retro!

Now I need to buy some good Vinyls!

Vinyls have 360'ed. They went from retro to common a few years ago (seriously, there was a huge spike in the sales). You're behind the times :p

(but you like T&S so its all fine)

I thought that was what happened. The In Rainbows boxset had the album on 2 vinyl discs, and not 2 cassettes. People still make vinyls, but poor cassettes are so very obsolete...

Agreed! I love the album. She sings with such force on songs like misery buisness it makes me want to sing along like that with her. It's obviously not the best album of the year etc, but it's great fun. (Probably my album of the year though considering most the albums I listen too weren't released in 2007).

Yay and a semi-yay.

You should get Soviet Kitsch by Regina Spektor. It's much better.
