No third party games online until 2008

Recommended Posts

I see your point but do you really think after all those years were the XBOX, the XBOX 360, the Playstation 2/3, PSP, NDS have online enabled games a company should neglect online functionality in their games?

No, but I don't see either how it is going to doom any console. Having online gaming is nice perk and really important for certain group, but if Wii is going to fail, it is going to happen due other reasons. :)

I'd pay for it if they put some bloody effort into it and not say 'we know what consumers want and they don't want online'.

The flipside of all this could be that Nintendo is actually taking their time, in which case they do acknowledge the fact that gamers want online gaming. We're getting it with Smash Bros, we're getting it with Batallion Wars, and we've already had it with Mario Kart and Metroid Prime Hunters. I think they are acknowledging that gamers want online play.

In my God honest opinion, if they're delaying things, there will be some kind of reason behind that delay. They like going down different routes rather than just immitating.

The Wii has been in development for years, and in all that time they couldn't develop online? The DS has a successful online service and the Wii's will be basically the same. I guarantee you that it won't be special, think Metroid DS interface without voicechat, with friendcodes, and just a snazzed up look.

You got that right. They like taking the cheap route.

The lack of online enabled games is surely not the main reason for a console to fail but it can be one of the main reasons why people buy or don't buy a certain game.

Assuming you are a third party developer . You make one game and then port it to the other console.

360 gets better graphics, probably more content (DVD size, microtransactions), online play.

Wii version will be graphically inferior, with no online play but if the game suits the Wiimote a much better style of control

Now as a customer which game do you buy? I doubt Pro Evolution Soccer plays that much better with a Wiimote but better graphics and online play would make me buy the 360 version.

If that happens too often the developer will start shifting development more and more towards the console which sells more copies. I KNOW that lazy developers can mess up any game for any console but Nintendo can make their life a lot easier. So with online support I think you do a console more good than bad.

LOL but it is basicly free ... unless you live in Europe

"HD makes games more expensive"

"nobody picks up a game at 60$"

"we want to attrackt casual gamers with a low price"

Nintendo makes enough money with VC games too ... those don't really have a fair price tag to be honest. The problem is I missed a few classic games and eventually Nintendo will release a few of them. I just can't pirate games - it is not the same.

Somehow, I don't really believe this, since it's nothing official and it's just an opinion.

However, Nintendo does stupid things sometimes, so we never know.

Wii connect 24 is officially the shittest thing of all time. My Wii just sits there doing nothing except overheating and wasting electricity.

QFT.

Nintendo need topump out the onlineness, at least two launch games should have been online.

I work in games retail, and even though admittedly the customers I deal with could be classed as "hardcore" because they shop in a specialist games store, these are the very people who make or break a console. Core gamers are very outspoken about their pastime and it's their word-of-mouth advertising that helps a new console to get public recognition (especially if it doesn't have the word "Playstation" in its name). The gamers I serve are very into online gaming, certainly on the 360 and that's one of the features you constantly hear people championing - the community feel and good fun of Xbox Live. Nintendo don't need a service as good as Live, but they need to make their online service a good one for the many many casual gamers for whom the Wii will be their first online gaming experience. Convincing them that the Wii's online functions are great will go a long way to ensuring brand loyalty even past this generation.

Wasting electricity is little excessive word to use, as Wii's standby mode still requires less power than Cube. I don't remember what site did the calculations, but they calculated that having Wiiconnect24 on for 365 days does 6 dollar big dent on your wallet. Using PS3 for 2 hours a day puts over 60 dollars big dent on your wallet, and X360 fell of somewhere in the middle (but below 30 dollars). That Wii warms isn't problem so long as it doesn't damage any components (but I understand that it can worry someone who doesn't deal with computers on daily basis).

WHAT?? I call bullshit on that one, how could it possibly cost $30 to use Xbox for 2 hours? Holy shit. Colour me incredibly frightened. Wtf goes on in there?

2 hours a day*. I don't find that surprising at all, because energy consumption for component's has steadily grown since early 90's, and X360's components are bleeding edge (except for GPU). And no matter how bad X360's energy consumption may look, it is still very low if compared against modern and fully equiped PC-gaming rig. I mean, newest ATI GPUs will require their own power outlet, which is (IMO) little too much. :)

* In reality, only few of us play 2 hours each day.

What worries me is that Connect24 needs nearly the identical amount of power compared to playing Twilight Princess.

I wont say I like the idea of no online gaming for another 12 months.

Not the news I wanted to hear in all honesty.

Not to mention that with Wii connect24 you can receive messages from friends, Mii updates, whatever. And supposedly in the future, updates will be automatic and eventual game features will be downloaded automatically.

Still, don't really believe this.

Yeah didn't I tell you on the previous page that Blazing Angels wouldn't be online.

Anyway the thing with BWii is that Nintendo are classing it as a first party game though.

Ubisoft's official page on the game

Multiplayer for up to 16 players online (with one new PS3/Wii mode)

Engage in head-to-head dogfights or cooperative team play between squadrons on huge maps with large formations.

Ubisoft say differently...

Unfortunately it says the exact same thing for ps3 version. You do know that the first online game for the wii in every territory is pokemon - don't you.

It will just be the guy updating the website and put the same thing on both ps3 and wii pages by accident.

Oh and Dante the box art their is fake you do realise. And that has benn proved afake by goNintendo

Got a link for that? GoNintendo's article says nothing about the fake boxart. The only update since the original article is the description from UbiSoft's page.
