List of compatible SD cards

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a 2GB SD card but there's no knowing whether it works with the Wii or not and I'm definately not chipping out £60 for an official one. Basically just post what SD card you have (Brand, model, capacity) and whether it works or not. A link would also be helpful. I'll start off...

2GB Play.com, works fine.

If they work in a PC, it's 99% likely it will work in the Wii (with the first update).

all SD cards work because they conform to a standard (unless its a fake from ebay)

Every one up to 2Gb. If you go higher, forget it - Wii's not capable. SD cards are a worldwide standard, so any will be alright.

No it doesn't. Just like most Digital Cameras, Camcorders, MP3 SD Players, etc.

I think some companies (Sandisk etc.) are working on non-SDHC cards over 2GB. Dammit why can't the Wii support external HDDs!

If they're above 2Gb, they're not standard right now. Check the wikipedia explaination of the system, wich is entirely 'switch' based, wich means it's limit is at 2Gb. After tha it's using two layers, and that's what the Wii isn't capable of reading.

I have one Lexar 1gb SD card, works like a charm. To connect it to my computer I have a SanDisk multireader. No problems whatsoever.

What to avoid:

- High Capacity (over 2GB)

- High Speed

Mine's a "Bytestor Hi-Speed 66X SD Card 1GB" and it works fine.

I understand that

the SD standard was for upto 2gb

SDHC is the standard for over 2gb

SD cards over 2gb arent standard and will have poor compatibilty

I want ninty to release a USB card reader for all cards

Correct me if I'm wrong but essentially the only thing that SD cards and SDHC cards have in common is form factor. Don't get the two mixed up!

Well I use a 4Gb card that I imported to work with my kodak camera, works a treat shame it doesn't work with the wii though.

I love the way SD cards are so cheap how £10-£20

I reckon in a year or two we may have games delivered on memory cards. That would open up all sorts of possibilities for games. Can only think of championship manage right now or karaoke.., actually thats a crap idea.
