Alleged New Mod Chip...

Recommended Posts

Wiinja, CycloWiz, Wiip and Wiikey better watch out, cause it seems that this new Wii Modchip “WiiXT” (advertised by it’s makers as the Ultimate Wii Modchip) will be able to play both GC and Wii Homebrew, Games and Backups. And as a most interesting feature, seems like it will be able to play DVD Movies. Some think is a fake, some don’t.

They claim it will have a Stealth Mode too, but that it will be disabled when you play Region Free.

It’s said that it will come with a “WiiXT USB Dongle” which you connect to one of the Wii’s USB 2.0 ports and you will be able to turn it on/off using it.

It’s also said that it will be able to play VC games you didn’t buy, and that it will have 512MB Flash Memory.

Some people doubt this modchip’s realness because they’re hosted on a free host and use a GMail account, and their web design is not very cool. But as they state in their FAQ, that’s because they don’t want to spend money on those things when they can spend it working on their mod.

Release date is still unknown, probably because Wii’s are so hard to come across and they don’t have enough to test it on.

DVD playback it’s said to be enabled because this modchip uses technology that doesn’t just explode the backdoor that all the previous modchips exploded, but it’s a much more complex chip that can take full advantage of the Wii.

We will keep you informed in all news about this new modchip.

http://wiixt.vze.com/ is there address, seems fake to me, they don't even have a proper address or email account. and some of the features seem abit far fetched considering no other mods can do any of these things, and this whole booting data from a usb dongle seems abit far fetched.

EDIT:

I mean one statement that sounds like a joke is:

I'd like to resell / buy / sample the WiiXT - Currently we do not have the funds to start production, understand that we have bricked countless Wii's working on this chip, and buying more Wii's can be very hard due to the lack of supply. When we are nearing a set release date, there will be more information for resellers and samplers on this site.

What's stealth mode? And anyway, if it buggers your Wii up then your warranty is void.

I think stealth mode means that Nintendo wont be able to detect it and brick your system. I dont see why you cant boot form a usb stick?? you can do it with pc's so why not Wiis?

because it's hard to believe that even have a chip that alters the wii's settings let alone working out how to boot something using the USB ports.

i suppose your right. I hope this is reall though , it would be so handy and I know a few people that will get the Wii if they can play imported games on it.

well I'm not bothered,I'd sooner save up and buy an import Wii than void my warranty! but would be interesting if it does include features such as the DVD playback (which I very much doubt it will.)

So you have to actually open up the Wii and get a chipinstalled aswell as having the USB stick?

Yes you do.

Only clean solution I can think of just now would be with Datel.

I'm going on holiday to America at the end of June and i'm sorta hoping something will be said by then and maybe a release date.If there is a release date and if it's soon after my holiday then i'll be buying a lot of games.

Chances of this happening?

5%

O righ that sucks, i thought this was a whole new clean solution that did not require you to open up your Wii.

Don't worry about it, it clearly doesn't exist anyway.

Seems a bit early for someone to make such an advanced chip. A fake in my book but you never know. As for voiding your warrenty its worth it if you can get cheap games.

and some of the features seem abit far fetched...

I asked about "running all Virtual Console games" thingy, and it just means system doesn't crash when you try to play certain VC games (other modchips have that problem). It also looks like they aren't simply trying circumevent checks, they are aiming to completely re-write firmware using same code that WiiConnect24 uses to patch it. This is possible, as group of german security specialists actually had Wii's backdoor's password already. Nintendo changed the password, but specialists say it is extremely easy to find if you know where to look at it.
