  1. Blur on new TV, normal or not?

Most games these days seem to add in a bit of motion blur these days, you're probably fine :-) You could be sure by plugging into another TV. It seems unlikely it's the cables, with an HDMI at least, you either get a picture, you get serious breakup or you get nothing at all, there's no in between as far as I know.
  2. YouTube HD

Wow, it looks great in HD! I'm guessing the people who are seeing no difference must be watching the videos embedded in this page. You've got to clikc the links under the video to get the HD version.... I think. Can't wait til this is the norm in internet video!
  3. Hey people, a while ago I told my parents I was after a PS3 for Christmas but recently I've had a rethink and now I think I might be better off with a 360. I told my mum last night and she just looked at me and said '....you can't change your mind! go speak to your dad' so I'm guessing some sorta purchase has already been made >.< She told me just there this morning that if I want to change my mind I've got to phone her by lunch time today to let her know. So, what do you guys suggest? I already have a broken Xbox 360, so I have quite a few 360 games. I also really love the movie rental feature of the 360, and I like the 360's release list for the next few months. Also, NXE looks really awesome! On the other hand the PS3 has the blu ray player and Playstation Home looks cool and my friend assures me the PS3 will be getting movie rental in the UK next year. Anyone got any opinions?
  4. Banjo Kazooie (XBLA)

Haha, looks like Microsoft has figured out what everyone's doing, it's now on sale for 99,999 points :awesome:
  5. Sky+ HD worth buying?

I went for Freesat HD and it's great! BBC HD looks incredible. If you went for Sky+ HD then it would probably be worth it for you to get the triple play package: TV, Phone and BB. I hear there's plans for Sky+ HD customers with Sky Broadband to get a video on demand service in the next few months. Not sure if you'll be able to get the Sky LLU Broadband package where you are though, you'll have to check it out. I've also heard that after Sky cut the HD box to half price they ran out for the rest of the year so you might have to get a refurbished box instead of a new one. Good news is I hear they're even cheaper.
  6. Upgrading RAM

Go to http://www.crucial.com It's got good prices, good quality RAM and it has a checker whee you put in your computer model or motherboard model and it tells you the RAM to buy.
  7. Looks like a decent enough spec for the money although personally I'd stay away from Acer. Everyone I know who has had an Acer has horror stories.
  8. *GB per month download

I think for these 3G internet things your uploads count towards the monthly usage aswell as your downloads
  9. ISP (again)

Be and O2 are probably the cheapest and most reliable ISPs right now, assuming you're connected to an exchange which is enabled for them. To find out if you can get Be/O2 check http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php and put your phone number in (I think using your phone number is more accurate than postcode). They both use the same network so the connection's reliability and speed should be pretty much the same no matter which of the two you go for. Be's Value package, if you sign up now, is £8/month for the rest of 2008 then £14/month after that with a £24 connection fee. O2's 8mbps deal is £12.50 a month (£7.50 if you're an O2 contract or payg customer) and I don't think there's a connection fee. Both come with a free wireless router (with Ethernet so it should work with your Mac), 24/7 tech support (O2's is a free number based in the UK and probably the best customer services I've ever used, not sure how much Be's is but it's based in Bulgaria and I hear they're good too), a one year contract and unlimited usage with a fair usage policy although I've got friends who download 250GB+ a month and they've never run into problems. If you're not connected to a Be/O2 enabled exchange then... uhhh... only thing I can suggest is pray your exchange is enabled soon
  10. Anyone got Freesat?

Hey people, was just wondering if anyone's got Freesat HD? Hows are you finding it? Was thinking about buying a Humax Foxsat HD box to replace my Sky Digibox. Would go well with my new Sony KDL-32D3000
  11. Looks good. Actually looks really good. And it's free so you can't really complain. I'm definitely more impressed with Microsoft here than Apple who are quite frankly a bunch of assholes when it comes to MP3 player updates, they make an arse of it then charge you for it. Hope Zune comes to Europe soon. Also hope iPhone OS 2.1 comes out tomorrow and sorts all the bloody LAG!
  12. Anyone got Freesat?

So far on Freesat there's only BBC HD plus the occasional 'red button' ITV HD but more are expected before the end of the year. As for BBC HD being a load of crap, I'm loving it, Gavin and Stacey in HD is great ^.^
  13. Google Chrome

Dude, install it now! It'll take five minutes
  14. Anyone got Freesat?

Yeah I think it is bsaed of a box that can record 4 channels but that's only if it's 4 channels on two transponders or something along those lines. There's a guy who works in Humax on Digital Spy forums and I *think* he said that feature wouldn't make it into the Freesat model because it's aimed at consumers who wouldn't quite understand why they can sometimes record 4 channels and sometimes only record 2 channels. I'm from the southside, Govanhill kinda area :-)
  15. N-Europe ONLY site I can view?!

I don't think it could have been a DNS problem as I was using OpenDNS and had this problem. It also wouldn't work by just using an IP address instead of a web address so I'm pretty confident it wasn't a DNS problem. Not to worry though, problem was only there for a few hours, everything's fine now.
  16. Anyone got Freesat?

Freesat is broadcast from Astra 2D and Eurobird 1, the exact same satellites used by Sky so if your dish is aligned for Sky it's fine for Freesat. I bought a Foxsat HD for my room and it's great! BBC HD is bloody fantastic! What you've got to remember about Freesat is it's a very young platform and it has to be given a bit of time to grow. I'm guessing that in a years time Freesat will be a big player. Especially looking forward to seeing what happens with the ethernet port although I think we all know it's likely to be iPlayer Also, Humax have given a small peek at their Freesat HD PVR, although as far as I know, what the picture in the article shows is not necessarily what the final product will look like: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/08/29/ifa_humax_freesat_hd_dvr_plan/
  17. Exam Results 2008!

Hey people, it's that time of year again! The SQA results come out tomorrow, not sure when the other parts of the world's results come out but I for one am shitting it. Not sure if anyone else is going to be on between now and receiving their results but is anyone else really worried? Anyway, good luck to everyone!
  18. N-Europe ONLY site I can view?!

Yes.... telling us to be faithful and to believe in Be : peace:
  19. American cable in the UK?

Not sure about this because I've never had to use it to use it for sports but I'm sure you'll find what your looking for on the technology created by Bram Cohen. I say the name of the inventor because I'm not sure if I would get in trouble for mentioning the actual name of such a technology ;-)
  20. N-Europe ONLY site I can view?!

That's really strange, I had the same problem last night on O2 (i.e. Be), but I use OpenDNS. I don't think it was a DNS problem because just typing in Google's IP address didn't give me anything. It all came back to normal about 11pm.
  21. Laptop for Nan

Dell's new Studio 15 laptop is £399 and it's pretty decent value for what you get. Got a 15" screen too so should be good if your nan's eyesight isn't great. You can probably find one closer to £300 on the Dell website with a 15" screen but the Studio 15 looks like a pretty good buy. Plus it has a webcam, and you'd be surprised how much some older folk love using Skype! My godfather's mum (who's 89(!)) uses Skype every day to talk to her family all around the world.
  22. Downloading Windows

Linux kicks ass. I usually use Kubuntu but I've been hearing REALLY good things about OpenSuse 11. As Jordan says, as far as I know it's fine to download Windows XP as long as you have a legitimate license.
  23. Are you a Twit?

    I'm twitter.com/jacksterd ^.^
  24. EDTV/HDTV

You would be able to tell the different between using a composite cable anda component cable, but if you were using SCART RGB before and moved to Component it would be pretty hard to see the difference in my experience, even with 480p enabled.
  25. Need a decent P2P program.

Damnit dude, get your ass on bit torrent. Limewire and the like are awful. If I had to use something like Limewire for anything, I'd use Frostwire.
