  1. Completed this now.  It was alright.

Hopefully Hyrule Warriors retains the auto-picking up of items.

I played the first couple of levels on the New 3DS version of Fire Emblem Heroes too and it plays perfectly well.  So if you wanted this game and didn’t own a Switch but didn’t want the New 3DS version because of it being for the older platform, don’t let that stop you.

What is the right audience? I was planning on seeing it.

I don't like the book.  So liking the book would probably be a good start.  If it wasn't for all the 80s/90s nostalgia I'd say it was aimed at people who are late teens/early 20s.  It's also the very definition of a popcorn movie.

  3. I stayed away from Simplify3D for about a year because of it's closed source approach and used Slic3r with Repetier.  But I finally caved and paid the ~£100 for it and it's definitely worth it.

1.75mm seems to be the size to use these days.  I've still got a load of 3mm lying around from before I converted over.  So when I do get the Prusa i3 Mk3, I'm changing my current one back to 3mm just to use it up.

I need to start painting my prints like you guys.  I can't find a suitable base layer for it though and painting directly onto the model leads to it running all over the place.

  4. I don't think I'd ever walk out of a film/stop watching a film early because I didn't like it, purely because I think you need to see the whole thing to form an opinion.   But I was damn close to wanting to walk out of Ready Player One during the week.  I was not the right audience for it at all.

  5. Are you guys printing with PLA or ABS? 1.75mm or 3mm? What software are you running on the printer and which slicing software?

I’ve had my printer for just over three years now and I’m looking to move to a Prusa i3 mk3 before the end of the year. I’m in no real rush though as my current one is working fine at the moment.

I installed a capacitive auto-leveller about two years ago and that was the best upgrade I’ve made. Also if you’re using PLA with a heated bed, spraying lemon juice is a good temporary adhesive to use.

Worst upgrade I’ve made is for multi colour. I’ve tried multi-nozzle, it’s a nightmare to get them exactly level, and single-nozzle, a nightmare to do the retraction.  Multi-nozzle is incredibly useful for printing supports using PVA. Drop them in water and it dissolves leaving just the model.

  6. I think that if they were to do this, there'd only be ~15 games included.

    Realistic Predictions:

    1. Bomberman 64
    2. Castlevania Legacy of Darkness
    3. Donkey Kong 64
    4. Goemon's Great Adventure
    5. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
    6. Mario Kart 64
    7. Namco Museum 64
    8. Paper Mario
    9. Pokemon Puzzle League
    10. Pokemon Snap
    11. Star Fox 64
    12. Super Mario 64
    13. Super Smash Bros
    14. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
    15. The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask
    16. Yoshi's Story

    Unrealistic Predictions:

    • Animal Crossing
      • Never released outside Japan.  But as this was the game which ended up as the Animal Crossing on GameCube it means that there might be a translation already in existence.  This would make it a Classic Mini exclusive, like how StarFox 2 was on the SNES Classic.
    • Banjo-Kazooie
      • Microsoft have released Rare games on Nintendo platforms before though.  Might see this as easy money and advertising for future Banjo games?  But then Nintendo might also see it as advertising for a competing platform.
    • Diddy Kong Racing
      • Nintendo will favour Mario Kart 64 over this and I can't see them putting both on there.
    • Goldeneye
      • A legal nightmare.
    • Perfect Dark
      • Same as Banjo plus would increase the age rating.
    • Turok
      • Would make the package be 18 rated.

I think 1080, F-Zero, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, Pilot Wings, Wave Race would all be missed purely so that Nintendo wouldn't be giving too much away for the price and because (other than the Mario games) there's no future instalments planned.

    Zombies

Firstly congratulations on your haul! You know it makes sense, would only regret it tomorrow if you didn’t get what you wanted.

Weirdly the file for Zombies on the SNES VC isn’t correct. The Wii emulator accounts for it fine so you won’t notice; but if you try to extract it and then restore the PCM audio to BRR the header file describes it incorrectly.

    • Thanks 2

  8. I think Nintendo will struggle to make a software emulator they’d be happy with on the hardware they’re already using for the NES/SNES Classic Mini.

Plus the Classic Controller interface doesn’t support rumble because of the additional power requirement. Not that all N64 games had rumble.

So I don’t think the N64 Classic Mini is a definite.

I could definitely rustle up a list of games I’d want to see on there avoiding any with obvious licensing issues.

  9. So I've done most of my purchases now.  Loaded my account up with 10,000 points to spend until the end of January next year.

    • Haven't got most of the Crystal Chronicles DLC as I might play the game and end up not enjoying it at all (though I remember liking the demos, so that's not likely).
    • Haven't bought Mystic Quest Legend as there's the super slim chance the Wii U gets it like it has in Japan.
    • Haven't bought Super Star Wars because there's a chance they're ported, like how the first has been.
    • I've not bought Pokemon Puzzle League yet because there's a slim chance there'll be an N64 Classic, and I suspect this would be included on it.

Obviously if I've still got all the points in my account come January, I'll just buy the above.

    • Thanks 1

I really don't want to buy the other Crystal Chronicles DLC, just trying to find out if they're worth getting or not.

Edit:  Removed most of the remaining CC DLC.

Just over 24 hours to go before you will not be able to buy Wii Shop Points.

    • Thanks 1

  11. Anybody got any suggestions on which DLC I should pick up for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles My Life As A Dark Lord.  There's quite a lot and I'm not sure which 'add to the game' and which are just shortcuts or cosmetic.

Excellent, I'll be loading up my account with 25,000 Wii Points then over the weekend, after I've redeemed the codes I have.

Something that's just caught me out.  You can only have 10,000 Wii Points in your account.  So not only have we gotta put the money in this weekend, we've also gotta buy most of what we want.

The bigger kick in the teeth is if your Wii dies and there's absolutely no way to retrieve your purchases. That's the thing stopping me from putting any more money in!

I should point out that I wouldn't be doing this if I couldn't get them off the Wii.  I'm able to make a backup of my NAND and also extract the games themselves to use in Dolphin.

It’s actually available on PSN now in all regions (includes the PS1 port of the arcade version too); at a MUCH more reasonable price than the physical copy!

It was a very very late PS3 release.

I can't find Strider on PSN, just the 2014 game.  Do you have a link?

Is it really worth getting those Bomberman games when R is on the Switch?

Personally, I wouldn't bother with Pokemon Rumble, there's a 3DS and Wii U version, or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase because isn't the service dead when they killed the servers for the Wii/DS.?

The WiiWare Bomberman game is on that list purely because it will be gone forever when the Shopping Channel shuts down.  Bomberman Hero is there because it's a bit different to the other Bombermans (no multi) and it's ~£15 to buy the cart.

Pokemon Rumble is another WiiWare which will be gone forever.  Would be nice to see where the series started.

WarioWare DIY Showcase is pretty much on the list as a maybe.  I think it might still enhance the offline play of the game but not really sold on it yet.

Yeah that's a lot of stuff.  I've even tried to cut it down (Not all the My Life DLC for example).  The VC games I've picked are mostly ones which I think licensing issues will make them difficult to re-release.  Think I'm missing anything?

You will not be able to buy Wii Shop Points past Monday 26th March 2018.

That's just over one week away.
