  1. Detective Pikachu - The Movie

I went from not caring at all to being massively interested in this based on the trailer. I love how creepy the Pokemon look. Is that intentional or a side effect of the style they’ve gone for? Not gonna lie if this goes well I’m going to be screaming for a Metroid film.
  2. I've been stuck in this rut for about the past 8 years... so since about 2010. That was my second year of uni doing Computer Science which means I spent pretty much all day looking at screens and by the time I got home I didn't really want to look at another one. As soon as I finished uni I went straight into being a Developer so I never got back into it. I do still play games occasionally but after about an hour I start to think "I could be doing something else" and so I stop. The Switch, and 3DS, is getting used quite a lot because in portable mode it means I can play while doing something else or just while commuting on the bus. I'm also pretty happy with room scale VR too as I don't get the feeling of wasting time. I still love being involved in the conversation so I still buy the consoles and the games with the intention of playing them some day. Starting to force myself to wait until the games are cheaper now too because there's no point buying a game at full price to not play it. But now, and I think this is simply because I'm getting old, even the conversation is starting to be a bit grating. N-Europe is the only forum I still frequent. Everywhere else seems to be online-this, battle royale-that, twitch streamer-did-this, false nostalgia and esports-are-a-thing. None of those things are bad (except maybe the false nostalgia) but they're just not for me.
  3. The Walking Dead

The situation is pants and a lot of people have lost their jobs and this announcement is unlikely to get a lot of these jobs back. So I'm not going to get over excited about this. It is nice to see the series get finished though. I wonder if Skybound have bought the entire toolset, so if they wanted to, they could make more games in the same vein. With the studio being created by Kirkman, I can see this sort of interactive storytelling being attractive to them.
  4. General Switch Discussion

It now says this on the product page: I wonder if that's why the money has been returned. Though they'll struggle to charge the card again now.
  5. General Switch Discussion

The whole thing has been a bit pants really. When it actually let me add them to basket it was a chore to get through the sales funnel and then at the card details part, it failed every time for about three days. I received no emails saying I'd even made an order, and there's no account section online, but I'm unable to add another set to basket and they'd taken my money so I thought I was set. But no.
  6. General Switch Discussion

Has anybody else who has ordered the NES Controllers for Switch via MyNintendoStore had their payment reverted today?
  7. Nintendo Labo

I guess this means there's another MK8DX update incoming.
  8. Mario Tennis Aces

Really unimpressed by this. Can only play using motion controls in a single mode, why? Tennis is one of the few games where motion controls work really well and it's limited to a single mode. Saying that, even in this mode I can't seem to understand how to hold the JoyCon. The image before hand seems to suggest the blank edge (without L/R) is the rear of the racket, but I just can't seem to get it to do anything I want it to do. Adventure mode, so far, seems to be pointless and act as an extended tutorial. Why was this featured so prominently when originally announced? Why can't I just jump into a normal game of tennis? Unless I'm missing something I can only do weird tie-break-esque version.
  9. Nintendo Direct: E3 2018

Just a correction, this is coming in a patch on Thursday. On the stream they made it sound like it was available now.
  10. Nintendo Direct: E3 2018

Yeah in game, so if you press home you lose connection. Not perfect but better than we've got with Splatoon!
  11. Nintendo Direct: E3 2018

Fortnite supports voice chat through the headphone jack on the Switch. They've just said on the Treehouse stream.
  12. Nintendo Direct: E3 2018

That was so weird. It wasn't structured like their Directs usually are and it wasn't like their previous E3 ones. Then it just ended. I mean what was shown was nice I guess, but that wasn't a good presentation.
  13. Nintendo E3 Spoiler/Leak Thread

This is pretty standard for pre-Nintendo Direct but Amazon have a bunch of placeholders up.
  14. Nintendo Classic Mini (NES) - November 11

Trying to find the Shonen Jump Famicom Mini at (or near) RRP is massively difficult. I haven't even seen it come up as in stock.
  15. Wii U eShop Thread

I wish they'd put some of the VC games on sale.
  16. Looks like I'm importing another Famicom Mini.
  17. Wolfenstein II: The New Collosus

Is it just me or does this look sharper than Doom on the Switch does? I guess there’s less particle effects going on so they’ve been able to use that power keep the res up.
  18. Fire Emblem Warriors

Really? I could have swore I had to pick up the pouches in Hyrule Warriors.
  19. Fire Emblem Warriors

Completed this now. It was alright. Hopefully Hyrule Warriors retains the auto-picking up of items. I played the first couple of levels on the New 3DS version of Fire Emblem Heroes too and it plays perfectly well. So if you wanted this game and didn’t own a Switch but didn’t want the New 3DS version because of it being for the older platform, don’t let that stop you.
  20. Fire Emblem Warriors

Just about to start Chapter 19 and only just realised I can change the non-playable characters, d’oh!
  21. Arms

I’m only on difficulty 4 and I still can not beat Hedlok. It’s doing my head in.
  22. Films you've walked out of...

I don't like the book. So liking the book would probably be a good start. If it wasn't for all the 80s/90s nostalgia I'd say it was aimed at people who are late teens/early 20s. It's also the very definition of a popcorn movie.
  23. 3D Printing

I stayed away from Simplify3D for about a year because of it's closed source approach and used Slic3r with Repetier. But I finally caved and paid the ~£100 for it and it's definitely worth it. 1.75mm seems to be the size to use these days. I've still got a load of 3mm lying around from before I converted over. So when I do get the Prusa i3 Mk3, I'm changing my current one back to 3mm just to use it up. I need to start painting my prints like you guys. I can't find a suitable base layer for it though and painting directly onto the model leads to it running all over the place.
  24. Films you've walked out of...

I don't think I'd ever walk out of a film/stop watching a film early because I didn't like it, purely because I think you need to see the whole thing to form an opinion. But I was damn close to wanting to walk out of Ready Player One during the week. I was not the right audience for it at all.
  25. 3D Printing

Are you guys printing with PLA or ABS? 1.75mm or 3mm? What software are you running on the printer and which slicing software? I’ve had my printer for just over three years now and I’m looking to move to a Prusa i3 mk3 before the end of the year. I’m in no real rush though as my current one is working fine at the moment. I installed a capacitive auto-leveller about two years ago and that was the best upgrade I’ve made. Also if you’re using PLA with a heated bed, spraying lemon juice is a good temporary adhesive to use. Worst upgrade I’ve made is for multi colour. I’ve tried multi-nozzle, it’s a nightmare to get them exactly level, and single-nozzle, a nightmare to do the retraction. Multi-nozzle is incredibly useful for printing supports using PVA. Drop them in water and it dissolves leaving just the model.
