  1. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call (3DS)

Pre-ordered it yesterday. Looking so forward to this game, like I said previously, I missed out on the first Theatrhythm and now it goes for ludicrous prices on ebay.
  2. Nintendo: The Road To E3

There hasn't been a great e3 since 2010, when you had Nintendo giving a decent conference and the legendary Konami live press conference.
  3. Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

High Moon developed some great Transformers games, it's a real shame that they have been relegated to Call Of Duty. I don't have much hope for this one, looking into the developer it doesn't seem that they have made many decent games. When that is coupled with Activision, who are notorious at giving unrealistic development deadlines (007 Legends) I'm not confident. RIP Eurocom.
  4. Emerging Market Console

If you want to crack Brazil, you'd have to open a factory and produce the console locally, thus eliminating import taxes and the like so you can sell your product at a competitive price point. Which is why I think they should have started producing Wii Minis in a place like Brazil to capitalise on such a growing market. From memory the tax on luxury export goods is something ridiculous like 200%.
  5. Emerging Market Console

It should have always been the Wii Mini with a complete selection of Nintendo Selects titles which would have then been marketed at a very cost competitive price in various emerging markets around the world (Primarily Brazil and China). It could have worked so well and introduced a whole new market to Nintendo's IP, even if they would have had to swallow some of the costs. Honestly I think that ship has began to sail unfortunately. The Wii Mini should have never been released in existing markets. Piracy may have been a problem, but then the PS2 managed to thrive in Brazil, where bootlegs abound.
  6. Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Consider this blog post made by a friend of mine as to why the announcement was made of of the blue http://another-castle.com/forums/blogs/games-are-serious-business/8215-conspiracy-theory-time-why-were-pokemon-or-as-suddenly-announced . He makes some valid points, and Nintendo share prices did rise a bit after the announcement (There was a significant drop earlier today after they released their financials).
  7. Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

So excited, Ruby is probably my favourite Pokemon game (that might be clouded with nostalgia though). I sunk hundreds of hours into it, bought and completed Pokemon Channel just to get Jirachi and completed the Pokedex.
  8. Exactly, that release date gives it away as fake. When is the last time Nintendo unveiled a Zelda game a mere 6 months before its release? It would be great for the Wii U's prospect to have it out by Christmas but it's not going to happen
  9. It would be a pretty impressive feat if they could achieve that, phone design and functionality is pretty standardised at the moment. Nobody would really care if it was missing things like Siri, as long as you can make calls, text, has a functional browser and plenty of apps it'd do fine. The hardest part of breaking into the phone market at the moment is brand recognition, Apple is about to release a new model phone with barely any changes in the functionality and it still sells like hot cakes. I get your point of Nintendo being backwards, but it would be pretty hard to make a 'backwards' phone unless you went with the Ngage taco school of design.
  10. 3DS Console Discussion

That's Nintendo marketing in a nutshell. Did the ad happen to have a random celebrity or two in it?
  11. Would involve the investment of a lot of resources to just get a foothold in the phone market. You'd have to cut deals with Telecom companies, have a killer advertising campaign and have a compelling product which resonates with phone users. Just trying to sell a phone to gamers is a too small of a niche in the market to bother with such an attempt. Look at how the Xperia Play went, no doubt Nintendo would actually be able to put games behind any attempt they put forward but still, just having a phone and sticking button controls on it is not an instant recipe to success. Even if you achieved all that, you'd still have Apple and Samsung to contend with, with both holding a significant portion of the market share at the moment and are consolidating their positions. Even if it is possible, it's not worth the effort in my opinion and is hardly something Nintendo would ever dream of attempting.
  12. Metroid Starfox Zelda Pokemon Fusion Saga? A Nintenphone wouldn't do that well, trying to break into the phone market this late is a terrible idea. So many of the traditional competitors are dropping out due to the juggernauts of Samsung and Apple. If Nintendo did come out with a 3DS phone, I doubt it would ever become mainstream, would probably be less popular than the Windows phones.
  13. Play Nintendo - Announcing Nintendo @ E3 2014

Why is a live audience so important for so many people? We know many of the companies just fill it with employees who are instructed to applaud loudly (Microsoft). This could work out well for Nintendo, it all depends on the implementation, similarly to how last years direct-substitute could have worked a lot better for them.
  14. Wii U General Discussion

It all depends on how well Nintendo goes about advertising Mario Kart 8 and the Wii U in the next month or so. Personally I'm not very confident, they've done a pretty piss poor effort so far, especially in Australia.
  15. New Ace Attorney coming to 3DS

You know they could always go down the route that Phoenix Wright had Japanese descendants? Definitely plausible and would allow them to ignore their idiotic mistake of localising it as based in the US in the first place.
  16. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call (3DS)

I just hope it heads to our region, I've been looking at picking up the first game lately but it seems to go for ridiculous prices online (And finding it preowned at retail in Australia is near impossible since it was a low print run to begin with).
  17. Nintendo Pocket Football Club

So while there is DLC which makes the game easier, it's avoidable and doing so won't really impact my enjoyment of the game? I'm very tempted to by this game as from what I read it seems like my type of game (even Soccer isn't really one of my favourite sports) though this talk of the DLC sort of puts me off.
  18. Mario Golf World Tour

Well that sucks, especially considering it doesn't seem Mario Golf has a reduced retail price in Australia (Last time I check it's rrp is $60 AUD, which is what most 3DS games cost at release). I don't mind them doing this, considering it basically increases the longevity of the game but conversely it does feel like they are putting a significant part of the game behind a paywall as the DLC basically doubles the amount of courses. In my opinion this is a lot different to the Fire Emblem dlc, which was mainly fan service orientated and could be missed with no consequence, while in any game like Mario Golf it's the different courses that makes the game more interesting as each course generally provides a different challenge.
  19. I'm just hoping this isn't another Code of Princess debacle where it is put up on the e-shop for an exorbitant price and is never lowered. I still want to play that game but just can't justify $50 AUD.
  20. Should Nintendo go 3rd party?!

Of course not, why would they abandon the handheld gaming market when they are still finding success in it? I wouldn't be surprised if the do merge their handheld and console efforts into a hybrid system though.
  21. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

Seems to be when you complete certain quests a message box pops up saying that you gained certain 'bonus' items for the full game. Comprises of potions and that sort of stuff. I think the streetpass village carries over as well
  22. A Positive NINTENDO

The times I've played Mario Party with my siblings/group of friends. That series has provided some classic moments for myself over the years. There's a reason why this franchise was getting yearly releases at one stage, there's really nothing quite like Mario Party in the Video game medium. People have tried (Hudson Soft also developed Sonic Shuffle) but they all seem to lack the Nintendo polish and characteristics that make it a great series to play with friends. Overall Nintendo are probably the key reason why I'm still fully engaged with Video games. The 64 was the console that first got me interested in gaming and titles such as Skyward Sword and Xenoblade are the reasons why I returned to console gaming after a stint of playing WoW. They produce so many quality titles that really encapsulates the spirit of local multiplayer, something that most developers have moved away from since the rise of online gaming.
  23. Letterbox killed by Nintendo?

This has nothing to do with their 'kiddy image'. If it was underage users sending pornographic images of themselves that's illegal.
  24. FAST:Racing Neo

Every game doesn't need a gimmick, they need to sell, which is something that the last couple of F-Zero games failed to do. Nintendo seemed to have attempted to turn F-Zero into a multimedia franchise with the anime, the 3 GBA games and GX. We all know how that ended. I'm eagerly awaiting gameplay footage for this game, hopefully it's more fleshed out than the Wiiware version.
  25. Super Mario 3D World (Nov 29th)

I'm still unsure on this game, I really did not enjoy the demo that I played, although the latest trailer grabbed my interest again. I guess i'll wait for all the impressions.
