  1. Not much discussion going on here about this game. It's a bit of a shame really as it is a very good game.

The more I play it, the more I like it. There is a lot more depth to the controls and battle system than immediately meets the eye. This game is certainly no button masher. Yes, you just press the A button to attack and timing allows you to string a combination of slashes together. However, the ability to use the chain to mix things up is extremely well done.

Bind enemies so that they can't attack you for a period of time allowing you to move in for the kill. Binding enemies to objects to stop them from moving is rather neat. Binding enemies and then throwing them at other enemies or against the wall, and binding enemies to pull items from them. The Wiimote is used to great effect!

Navigation and movement is good too. Automatically jump across platforms, cling to side ledges, side step narrow walkways, auto climb up reachable platforms, latch on to items and swing using the chain. It all works very well.

I have now beaten the 2nd tower boss and so far have died 3 times in the game. However, you can restart at the check points. Initially I was worried about the timer aspect having to rush through towers, but I think it's ok. So far, you will have to make several trips to towers, but they are designed in a way that you can get to places via different routes 2nd time around.

So far, I think this game deserves more than the average 7 it has received. Don't be put off by the score if you enjoy adventure games, you should buy this.

Much more positive Pandora's Tower review:

  2. I have played some more and just finished the first tower boss. The game continues to grow on me. Still getting used to the controls but I am sure I will get them.

The voice acting seems good, though Aeron doesn't really say that much.

The cut scenes have been quite nice too so far.

I want to play more, which is a good thing!

  3. I have started playing the game. Only really done the intro and killed first beast and fed the girl her first piece of flesh. I am quite liking it so far. Voice acting seems good. Aeron could say more. Yet to really get into the action so can't say much about the battles. Fixed camera angles are a bit of a bugger but I am sure I will get used to it. Graphics look good so far. Would be nice to have a jump button. Hope there is, not sure yet. Wanna play more ;0)

  4. I have recently bought this game but it is still wrapped up. Just completed Xenoblade. It will be interesting to see how it compares. But I have Pandora's Tower to play next. THis will have to wait, though I look forward to it.

  5. Well, I have just completed the game and I have to say that it ranks right up there with my all time favourite games! I would go as far as to say it is my favourite game ever, dethroning The Legend of Zelda OOT, finally.

The story is brilliant and all the characters, good or bad are great. Riki is the only exception for me. I think the Voice acting is very, very good. Music is sublime, and graphics are beautiful. Yes character models are blurry in cut scenes, but that is the only negative considering the Wii's lack of power. The environments are so vast and there is so much variety and detail that the mind boggles at times.

I loved Baiten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia on the Cube, but this game surpasses both of them by some distance. It is the best of all RPGs, no unnecessary random battles, no silly cut scenes before and after a battle. Save the game whenever you want, quick travelling between areas, awesome battle system.

My play time was something like 160 hours. The last area and final battle was simply incredible and a delight. I by no means done all the side quests and was hoping I could go back but alas not after the point! The ending too was just so well done. It shows a great labour of love has gone into this game. The very fact that the cut scenes show your characters with the armour and weapons equipped shows the level of attention to details.

I was only level 82 when I completed this game. And there is reason to start all over again.

    My Favourite Game Ever!! 10/10

  6. No one really discussing what they think of the game yet, everyone still waiting for their copy like me? Amazon never very good at getting you the game on release day.

I am still playing Xenoblade and The Last story is still in wrapping. May play Pandora's Tower after Xenoblade though as it is shorter.

  7. I am getting this game to sit alongside my Xenoblade, which I need to get back to completing after just finishing Skyward Sword. I also still have The Last Story wrapped up all new. So loads of life left in my Wii until Wii U.

  8. I have just completed the game. Great finish and ending. I think the best finish to any Zelda game. Personally I loved Twilight Princess, but the end in this game is better. Skyward Sword is a great game, not as epic as Ocarina of Time, not as many areas in this game, but still a sufficiently long quest. Took me over 60 hours to complete. Thoroughly enjoyed it throughout, and it is quite hard in parts.

    I would rate this 9.5/10

Now I can get back to finishing Xenoblade

  9. My copy of Tiger Woods came a day early in the post from Game. They are good for something!

I got the additional wii motion plus. I already had one with Grand Slam Tennis.

So far it's really good. The controls feel great, pretty one to one swing action. I got an Eagle on my first hole. Seems really fun, and I've only done an 18 hole quick play.

Graphics are better than I thought. The course looks very lush. Character models could be better though.

Loads of options and modes that I haven't played with yet.

    Very impressed.

  10. Had my first taste of online today and god was I impressed. It's great fun playing against other people especially when the matches are competitive. My character is still really weak as I've not completed a grand slam yet. But I still managed to win a good game online coming back from 2 games down and saving match point to win in the Tie Breaker.

Have to say though been experiencing some lag as the opponent seems miles from the ball but miraculously gets there, just when I think the point is won.

And yes, I came up against a Federer, and he just seemed to get to everything.

    Really loving this game.

  11. Played somemore today and this game is enjoyable, but tried the grand slam again and was not doing well, so I decided to quit and start again, this time on easy. What a difference this makes. I recommend people to start on easy because of the learning curve. Looks like it's more forgiving in easy though as pratically the same shots I do but they stay in on Easy but go wide on Medium.

As enjoyable as this game is, there are definitely some niggles with the control. Sometimes it goes a bit haywire, and does not do your swing at all making you lose the points. This is quite rare though and I think the calibration does sort itself out.

Can't wait to try the online.

  12. I got the game yesterday and initially although generally impressed with it, found it very fustrating with the motion plus controls. I was having trouble aiming the ball where i wanted it, and at times the wiimote became out of sync because I'd be swinging too hard and fast.

However after playing a full 5 set match of which are was down 0-6, 0-6 in the first 2 sets, I pulled back to win in 5 sets which was incredible:

    0-6, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

It does have a high learning curve at first but once you get it, it's definitely rewarding.

I need to leard not to swing so hard as it's not necessary but I can't help it. My arm was killing me afterwards.

    Great game.

  13. When you enter hypermode, you get a filled tank of phazon. Each time you shoot, it empties a bit. If you empty it all before a certain time, you return to normal.

If you don't empty it all before a certain time, you will get corrupted, and now it's a bit different. The tank will begin to fill on its own, and if you let it get filled, you die. But if you shoot, it empties a bit, although it never stops filling up. So, with careful management, you can stay in Hypermode for a long time, you just have to not let the phazon tank fill up and you must not completely empty it either.

I see, so you can actually stay in hypermode for long while. might try it when i'm not in danger of losing a lot of progress i made, eg just after save.

i'm enjoying the game now. it's just like prime 1 and 2 in many respects. love it. i wonder what it will be like when i go back to the other two now. will i still like them as much as i did i wonder.

  14. Just finished the Rundus battle and got the ice missles. stupidly tried to fight him with normal weoponry.

Then later went into hypermode, and ended up getting corrupted and dying. Happened twice already. They don't give you long in hypermode before its too late. Havent worked out how that really works yet.

  15. I had about 30 games, of which i was planning to keep. however a couple of months ago i finally decided to get rid of some. Sold games I knew I never would play again.

    Very reluctantly sold:

    Tales of Symphonia

    Baten Kaitos

    Pikmin 2

    Smash Bros Melee

    Viewtiful Joe 1 + 2

You'd be surprised how much you can sell some of these games for.

  16. This list proves what a great console the Cube was.

    1. Metroid Prime

Greatest game on the Cube. Level Design, atmosphere, controls, difficulty, sound, and graphics. Pure excellence. My 2nd highest rated game ever only behind OOT.

    2. Super Smash Bros. Melee

So much fun, so much fan fare.

    3. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

My first taste of the series. The battles were excellent fun and perfectly balanced. Great story and characters. Lovely music.

    4. Tales of Symphonia

My favourite RPG ever. Awesome characters, epic story, fantastic realtime battles, great score and voice acting.

    5. Baiten Kaitos

Similar to Tales of symphonia in terms of positives. My 2nd favourite RPG ever.

    6. F-Zero GX

    7. Resident Evil

    8. Resident Evil 4

    9. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes

    10. Wind Waker

    Just missed the cut:

Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin 2, RE: Zero, Eternal Darkness, Wave Race, 1080 Snowboarding, Soul Calibur 2
