  1. Rip-off Britain...

If Nintendo had not made out that the system would be cheap and affordable by the mainstream then people would not be so disappointed with the price now. I've been expecting it like sub £150 for months, and it should be. £180 I can afford, + Zelda = £220 unless I can pick up a promotion, but I cannot bank on that. I'm affraid most people cannot afford that, and most people are not buying a Wii just to play Wii Sports. Game sales will suffer more because of the price. I was going to get 2 or 3 but I think I'll stick with 1 now. Nintendo knows that they will make a lot of money from the games and the accessories, and they are making a profit on each Wii sold too, they sure are very shrewd when it comes to making a big profit. Not to mention how much the Virtual Console will make them. I think the Wii Sports pack in is not such a good idea, rather not have it and the Wii be £150. that would be a much more accessible price. At the end of the day I have to admit that £180 is a smart price to launch at. It's not likely they will have any problems selling a shitload of Wii's at this price.
  2. Rip-off Britain...

Expensive is expensive, I'll feel it even when I have a professional job that pays well. And I'm 28, but I have to spend lots of money on other things as well. I don't want to spend all my money on gaming, and this is exactly what the casual gamers will say. So none of them will buy Wii at launch. But of course Nintendo knows that but it doesn't need to care. Maximise profits while they can right? Imagine, the cost will be closer to £300 when you add a few items.
  3. So who is actually getting a Wii?

i will get one but i think i will only be able to afford Zelda with it at launch. depends on if there are any bundles in shops
  4. Rip-off Britain...

yeah also forgot about the DVD support being dropped. how much more exactly would it have cost to include it? frankly i would have preferred it to the wii sports inclusion. it's just too expensive with what you actually get with the system. not much more powerful than the gamecube, what are we paying for? sure the games will be great, but we will pay for those separately. i just think it's expensive for what we actually get. i'm sure most of us hardcore gamers don't care about these extra channels rubbish, checking weather, and photo viewing blah. And Opera is not even built in. All in all the news is disappointing, I don't know why they didn't just tell us the facts earlier rather than get us all disppointed now. There was nothing mind blowing about the launch details whatsoever.
  5. Rip-off Britain...

I'm very disappointed with the launch details for Europe. The price is not mass market friendly in Europe. Maybe in Japan it is, but not for us. It's more expensive than I expected. I thought £150 max, although they have included Wii Sports, but again I think this should have been optional, as I feel that the game has added to the final price. If so, why bundle it in? I'm sure a lot of people would not have picked this up at launch. We have yet to see any depth in the game that suggests it's worth any money. The price won't stop me from buying one, but I think I will have to revise what I get as Zelda and an SD card would already take it way over £220. And I would have liked a 2nd set of controllers, which again is rudiculously expensive. Then there is the news that you may actually have to pay for the Opera browser with Wii points. And I thought Opera was free practically everywhere. So much for being cheap and accessible - it is not. Then again I don't think Nintendo are aiming for the mass market at launch as they know they have a big enough fan base. Here's hoping Microsoft drops the price of the 360 in Europe, and Nintendo counters like they did for the Gamecube. I seem to recall the Cube was originally going to be £180 before it got change to £130. Although I doubt they will do this, as I think they know that demand will be very high especially in the run up to Christmas. Failing that, hopefully there will be some promotional bundles on the high street. And btw I have full time professional job, how the hell are students and children going to buy it.
  6. ExciteTruck

looks good, but i think i wait a little before getting it, as i will definitely get zelda, wii sports and most probably red steel
  7. Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)

    new screen shots look awesome
  8. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

looks like the lion king from Path of Radiance. Could this be a sequel or a prequel maybe? the video in the trailer looks just like Path of Radiance tbh, though the animated scenes are probably going to get spiced up
  9. European Wii event on Sept 15th

It has me worried that. it would be a massive blow if Nintendo did not release it before Christmas this year, much worse than the Sony situation! Fans would get really miffed off. Let's pray it's a false alarm.
  10. Moving GC games on to the Wii

With the recent revelations about Super Paper Mario moving on to the Wii and the sudden disappearance of Lego Star Wars 2 from Gamecube listings are we going to see a similar pattern for other Gamecube titles? It seems as a logical step for Nintendo to move it on to the Wii, but should they not be supporting the Cube to the very end? How can they expect other publishers like EA, Ubisoft and Eidos to? Don't forget the Cube still have Fifa 07, Splinter Cell 4, Tomb Raider Legend and Harvest Moon to name but a few. And what of Donkey Kong Bongo Blast? It uses the bongos so it may as well work on the Cube. Lego Star Wars 2 is baffling as the game is already finished. Reviewed with such high scores in ONM. Also, Baten Kaitos 2 has been rather quiet. Quite unlikely this will be released on the Cube in Europe, but could it be moved on to the Wii in that territory seeing it's quite an important game? It's already been out in Japan, so unlikely to be changed there. Seeing the Wii is backwards compatible I think Nintendo should release the games on the Cube, as Wii owners who wanted to buy it still will. Unless the game is having control overhauls I don't see the point in not releasing it on the Cube. I'm still buying Cube games so close to the Wii launch, just ordered Battalion Wars. And I would still buy Baten Kaitos 2 on Cube even after the Wii was out. Come on Nintendo, reward your Cube owners, not everyone is buying a Wii at launch. What do people think?
  11. Splinter Cell Launching With Wii.

if those are wii screenshots then could this be the best looking wii game yet? can't wait to see far cry
  12. Battalion Wars Wii (BWii)

i just received my Battalion Wars on Cube. A bit miffed it didn't come with Stars and wasn't wrapped. Play has sent me an opened copy, the c***s. Game better not disappoint
  13. Moving GC games on to the Wii

that's exactly what I think. ok, lego star wars did not get canned, just a GAME exclusive. very good news. i bet it will sell very well on the Cube.
  14. Lego Star Wars II gone?

i think we'll be seeing all these games moved on to the Wii. it's so late in the day now, that's probably what's happening
  15. So... (Pre-ordering)

i will preorder from either Game or Gamestation when they start taking them.
  16. Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)

is anyone buying the cube version?
  17. Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)

i'm playing minish cap for 1st time on my DS Lite
  18. Be careful about Magazine Subscriptions

since the magazine is on issue 1 how can the subscription offer be expired? i'm sure it hasn't for ngamer. was very unimpressed with the lastest issue of ONM. Not much good content in it and too much crap besides. though it's my 5th issue so i get one more from my quarterly subscription. would cancel if it wasn't because we are so close to launch and the next few issues should get very exciting perhaps.
  19. [Wii] List of launch window games

it's not too much too soon. just buy what you can afford obviously. you can always come back to other ones you want later. better to have the choice. looks like i will be getting 3 games at launch. and i only normally only get one, like when i got the Cube, i just got Rogue leader. Zelda is a must, Wii Sports to really experience the remote, and Red Steel as long it doesn't get slater in reviews.
  20. What are YOU getting at launch?

I will most likely get it from Gamestation unless there is a stock problem. I need to get my Pre-order in I guess. I got my DS Lite from there trading in my original DS for £45 and getting £99 bundle with any game. I went for New Super Mario Bros, and they chucked in a DS Lite starter pack as well - how nice. GAME tried to flock me off a purple Cube when I pre-ordered a black one. Lucky I checked before taking it home. The SWINES! Not sure what colour yet (prob white tho my DS Lite is Black) 1 extra remote Zelda TP Wii Sports Red Steel Yes, the most popular 3 games to get at launch I think. Then maybe Far Cry and Metroid Prime 3 a bit later on.
  21. Ubisoft's other games revealed

Give EA a break, they make games people buy and Wii definitely need them on board with all the Need for Speed and Fifa games. We will see the Eastern support grow once they see how phenomenal the Wii does at launch. Seriously, I anticipate another DS Lite kind of performance in Japan. It has to be said some of these developers are a bit slow getting on board. Konami, Temco, Capcom and even Sega have only about 1 game each announced. Square Enix is slightly better.
  22. Wii Prove Our Promise

I think there will definitely be more than the launch and price details. but everything left to know about the hardware as well. And also some new games that will suprise us all. I think the We Prove Our Promise statement is as much about Playing is Believing and there will be some new games announced that showcase the Wii even more so.
  23. Ubisoft's other games revealed

Loving Ubisoft right now. They are really into the Wii and believe in it and Nintendo. The fact that they are developing a peripheral for GT Pro is very interesting. I'm sure it will make many developers look up and see what they can do. Will most likely get both Far Cry and Red Steel. We must show our appreciation of their support. No doubt Prince of Persia is already in development, and hopefully a new Splinter Cell.
  24. Just Got This Months ONM.

i'm still waiting for mine. have been expecting it all week, supposed to be out in shop already, so not particularly happy about it
  25. Baten Kaitos Origins Official Thread

the only difference this time is that Nintendo is publishing it, not Namco. So hopefully Nintendo of Europe can surprise us all but I doubt it so i won't expect it. when's it out in the US?
