Retro's Zelda game for the Wii has been uncovered
Dcubed replied to Dufniall's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Real shame that the Heroes of Hyrule pitch wasn’t picked up. I like the concept, the progression mechanics are very reminiscent of Eternal Darkness, mixed with Four Swords Adventures, and I like the idea of a bite-sized Zelda that focuses on more tactical & puzzle solving gameplay over combat. Also… yeah… the BOTW team totally stole the Champions wholesale from Retro. Even the concept art is strikingly similar! -
Nope. Has worked like a champ for me with every game I've thrown at it. I know that 3rd party ones can be dodgy, but the official Memory Card 1019 has never given me any issues
-
It was released pretty late into the system's life and I don't think they were ever released in Europe; US/JPN only. Memory cards are all region free though, so it doesn't really matter in this day & age. They're not really all that expensive either (think I got mine for about £15 about 6 months ago or so), so I'd recommend one

GameCube? I just use a Memory Card 1019; it’s more than big enough for every game I own with plenty of change. Slot B contains a Memory Card 259 which I use exclusively with Japanese region titles (since they can’t share a memory card alongside US/EU titles). Dreamcast? I just leave 4 controllers plugged in with all of my VMUs permanently attached (you can imagine the screeching noise they make on console power up ). PS1? My MiSTer Multisystem has completely replaced the original hardware for me; and all my PS2 games are covered by my PS3/other relevant platforms via re-releases. I hate juggling multiple memory cards, so I go out of my way to avoid it

The GBA second hand market actually isn’t that bad at the moment. Outside of the Pokémon titles, the likes of eBay aren’t nearly as flooded with bootlegs as they used to be! As long as you keep your wits about you, now is actually a pretty great time to buy GBA games! And they’re (mostly) not too expensive either! Now DS on the other hand? Don’t bother. 99% of copies floating around on eBay are bootlegs now; good bloody luck finding legit copies of DS games right now!

Fair play to them for refunding customers. Most would’ve just taken the money and ran. But yeah… Add another one to The Google Graveyard.

@Ike Have you tried out any of the new Open FPGA cores for the Analogue Pocket? Any impressions you can give so far? Really wishing that I bought one earlier on now… (Decided to nab one and a Dock when the Open FPGA update came out… Being part of Group C really sucks ).

Tales of Symphonia Remastered (Switch, PS4, Xbox - 2023)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yup. It’s just not good enough. They needed to go back to the original GCN version’s codebase and start the port again from scratch. The PS2 version’s codebase is simply too compromised. -
I err... Don't think that's supposed to happen

I'm still stunned that this game hasn't been cancelled yet. If it weren't for the Singapore goverment subsidies and associated Must-Release release clause in their contract? I'm sure that this game would've been shitcanned long ago. Literally a 10 year development cycle... for what was supposed to essentially be a DLC mod pack for Assassins Creed 4... Insane.

Wow. This game is hard... It's awesome, but man is it hard! Haven't gotten past the first area yet! Edit: Scratch that! Just beat the first area for the first time! Still hard as balls though

#WiglettWednesday Oh dear...

Probably about the weight of a real trombone anyway
-
Apparently the game supports the Steam Deck’s gyro controls… … may have to give this a go
-
At least we got the ability to shoot Miyamoto in the face as a result… Good, wholesome family fun!

Yeah, I quite like Federation Force; it gets a really bum rap because of the narrative surrounding Nintendo in general at the time of its release (2015), but it’s a solid Monster Hunter esc take on the Metroid universe. That being said? If there is one major flaw this game does have? It’s that it is not balanced for single player at all. The bosses have Insta-death moves that are ridiculously unfair when you don’t have a teammate to revive you!! Play it in multiplayer though and you’ll probably quite enjoy it if you like Monster Hunter style games

Very sad to hear, we'll miss you around here. But we'll also welcome you with open arms when you're ready to come back. Take all the time you need

Just the one highlight tonight, but it's a good one... Fun games as always!

Apparantly the hacker is now blackmailing Rockstar for him to not release the source code into the wild... well, it's certainly on brand for the series I suppose!

Octopath Traveler II (Switch, PS4/5, PC - 24th Feb 2023)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That’s like the entire reason why the Dancer job even exists lol. Bewildering Grace had better be in this game! -
Damn that looks fun. Really looks shockingly robust! I’m liking the look of these new wacky modes Dare I hope that this gives Soul Calibur 2’s single player mode a run for its money?

He's saying the Final Bar Line is not a touch screen game, not that the 3DS game isn't originally a touch screen game (which it most certainly is. The button option was always an afterthought - hell, Theatrhythm was originally being developed for the original DS before being moved over to the 3DS). Final Bar Line is essentially an upgraded port of the arcade game, All Star Carnival; which is not a touch screen game. It had a custom controller that used two buttons and two turntable... things. See below... Game is mad fun BTW! ASC plays very differently from the 3DS games. Even ignoring the switch from touchscreen to this custom controller, it is fundamentally a two-handed game; whereas the 3DS games are single-handed. You are expected to hit multiple notes/slides at the same time with different hands. That's why it's fairly safe to say that Final Bar Line will not support the touchscreen... and it's also why this game really needs a custom controller that replicates the arcade setup!
