Fun night, and some great highlights this week...
-
Yeah, this is probably gonna be a very 3rd party heavy year for Sony. Most of their studios have put out a title or two within the last year or so, so I wouldn't expect anything major coming out of SIE in 2023; outside of Spiderman 2 from Insomniac.
-
Previews are coming out now... all sounds great! Sounds like they've gone back to having it be more like the GBA/DS/GCN era FE games (and all of the Somnium stuff doesn't sound overbearing like the Monastary was in TH)... which is exactly what I wanted

Good stuff. Nice to see Sony finally come out with their own take on the Adaptive Controller. Right Nintendo, your turn now.

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
Dcubed replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm not sure if that's the case, but you can still add funds via an eShop card onto a Switch and it'll also appear on 3DS if you have your accounts linked. You can also add funds to a 3DS/Wii U with a bank card by following this link: https://ec.nintendo.com/my/balance_add -
Growing apathetic about once loved series
Dcubed replied to Glen-i's topic in General Gaming Discussion
That's bullshit. Every Zelda game plays vastly differently. You act as if Zelda games are like COD, where every game is basically interchangable. -
Growing apathetic about once loved series
Dcubed replied to Glen-i's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Zelda has done this for me. Literally my favourite gaming series and I can't muster anything other than an indignant shrug when it comes to Tears of the Kingdom. Everything about BOTW and what it has done to not only the Zelda series, but Nintendo as a whole, makes me very very sad. At least the re-releases have been great. Links Awakening Switch was a delight, and Skyward Sword HD is an excellent remaster (at least when the Joycons are working properly), but as far as new entries in the series go? Couldn't give less of a shit. Outside of Nintendo? Plenty of other series have done this for me. God of War, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy? The list goes on and on; but Zelda? That one really hurts. Thank God for Metroid Samus Returns and (especially!) Metroid Dread though! Dread was so utterly amazing, I couldn't believe that it actually managed to live up to the 15 year-long wait! So it's not just me getting old and cranky kong, it's series specific; and especially Zelda specific. -
N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
Dcubed replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It’ll be next week, I’m sadly working nights over this weekend. -
Yeah, Earthworm Jim 2 is an interesting mishmash of ideas, almost like a Kirby Superstar esc omnibus; but the stages all go on for FAR too long and all well outstay their welcome. The game’s pacing is just awful as a result. If each stage was cut down to about 1/4 of its current length? The game as a whole would’ve been way better off for it.

A Last of Us Part 1 informercial... brought to you, by Sakurai!
-
Well, I mean, it was FUCKING hot this summer, I would've bunkered down and stayed indoors with the air-con on if I could've; so I totally get the graph.
-
God I remember Shekahna growing up! Used to love that store! Game Focus up Warren Street was always my favourite though! Man I miss local import shops
-
That’s really cool! Very forward thinking feature!

Are You Ready For Nintendo's Next Console?
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I am SO ready for new Nintendo hardware. The current Switch is creaking at the seams at this point. It's ridiculous that Nintendo have waited this long to announce a successor. The Switch is just a few months shy off of being 6 YEARS OLD and still no sign of any successor hardware!! It's insane! No Nintendo console (outside of the original DMG Game Boy) has gone this long without a successor at least having being announced by this point in its lifecycle, and most Nintendo consoles had already been replaced by a successor console (not even announced! Released!!) by the 6 year mark (the only Nintendo consoles to go on for longer than 6 years before a replacement are the original DMG and the Famicom; and the Famicom only managed 7 years at that...). If the Switch 2 ends up being a failure? It will be because Nintendo have waited too long to replace the hardware, allowing the "Switch" brand to rot and die off; just like what happened with the Wii-Wii U transition. -
Of course that would be possible, but it would require significant re-engineering from the ground-up with how the controller PCB works... which would probably be out-of-scope for a niche product like this (especially for the same console as the existing Dual Sense).
-
They're probably just using the same battery as in the Dualsense. They wouldn't be able to fit a physically larger battery in there unless they completely redesigned the internals (which is probably out-of-scope for this kind of project). The Dualsense (and the DS4 while I'm at it), were just poorly designed controllers from the get-go. They're way too battery hungry for the features that they offer. Then again, Playstation devices in general have never been particularily well designed as far as power consumption goes anyway.

Indie World Christmas Event (19th-23rd Dec)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Defo interested in The Punchuin, looks really fun! It's also the kind of game you wouldn't have expected from Shin'en (Think the last 2D pixel art game they did was Iridion 2 back on the GBA!). -
Battery capacity is entirely limited to the physical size of the battery. The only way to include a “better” battery is to include a physically larger battery, and that would probably have been impossible without increasing the physical size of the controller.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yup. Look up the “Danger Mario” run strat if you fancy a new way of playing PM64 (ironically, having 5hp actually makes for the most powerful Mario setup possible in PM64 ) -
https://www.resetera.com/threads/final-fantasy-pixel-remaster-ps4-switch-35th-anniversary-edition-preorder-starts-in-japan-spring-2023.666106/ @Julius This one's for you!
-
Agreed. You can really tell that IntSys actually worked on this one (unlike Three Houses). Crazy to think that this is only their second Switch game after more than 5 years of the console's life... FEH really did a number on their development capacity huh?

Nope. Mario Party 3 is due next year (probably January).
