  1. E3 2006 was just one big massive fever dream. You had the reveal of the Wii, Sony's real-time weapon change car crash suicide, and the legendary Peter Moore GTA tattoo which signified the loss of Sony's biggest exclusive. It literally defined the future of an entire console generation in a single weekend. That's the true power of a classic E3.
  2. YOU STOLE MY IDEA!!! Damn you!! I want to make this into a proper Top 10 poll though, where we vote on our favourite E3 years (and then the winners can go on the main site), like what we before with the Top 10 Nintendo console games lists. We can always make that a separate thread though, while this thread can be to just casually discuss our favourite memories in general I’ll probably set up that other thread tomorrow… Anyway, I’m gonna kick things off with just one of my favourite E3 events in general… Nintendo’s E3 2004. The DS. Twilight Princess. Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, Baten Kaitos, Pikmin 2… HOLY SHIT! DAT GAME LINEUP!! THE REGGINATOR!!! MIYAMOTO WITH FULL MASTER SWORD & HYLIAN SHIELD!! THAT’S HOW YOU BRING THE FUCKING HYPE!! What a fucking show! Especially after the utterly dire 2003 they just had, they came out of nowhere fucking swinging like their lives depended on it! Bloody fantastic! WE MAKE GAMES THAT MAKE GAMES WORTH PLAYING! (Now that’s a fucking tagline! )
  3. What an absolute cunt! The corpse isn’t even cold yet!!
  4. And there it is… https://www.ign.com/articles/e3-has-been-canceled?utm_source=twitter RIP E3 (1995-2023) Edit: ESA Statement…
  5. I got some funnies... Fun times as always
  6. There's something in that Marx Soul description that I never spotted when I first played it, but looking back on it NOW? I can't believe I never clocked on! The foreshadowing is ridiculous!!
  7. As a fan of old school Trek movies? This poster makes my brain hurt... It's basically that meme where you put a wrong picture/quote/quote reference together... except it's actual official art!
  8. So... Tim Stamper is back to cock tease us again... Except this time he's giving some goods! Never before seen footage of Twelve Tales Conker 64!!
  9. TOTK does exactly the same thing as what MM did; and OoT/MM were the biggest scoped games that Nintendo had ever made up until that point. It's the perfect point of comparison. When I say "from scratch", I mean that the entire game was made from start to finish inside the span of a single 12 month period.
  10. Because even if you knock 2 years off of this game's total 6 year development cycle (Which is far too generous to attribute to COVID, but whatever), you're still looking at a 4 year development cycle for an asset-reuse Zelda sequel; that not only reuses the existing engine and art assets, but even the entire map has been lifted wholesale from BOTW (with modifications). It's remarkably inefficient production compared to not only BOTW itself, but every single previous Zelda title ever made. Majora's Mask was made basically from scratch within a single year. Spirit Tracks was made in just two (Though that game reused a lot less assets than MM did), Triforce Heroes was about 1.5 years. So why the hell has, what is essentially the equivilent of MM, taken 6 bloody years!? They literally made the original BOTW in a shorter timeframe and that was their first ever HD Zelda game!! Hell, TOTK is even reusing BOTW's soundtrack (as evidenced by this new 10 minute gameplay video). No Zelda game has straight up ripped music from a previous game unchanged since Majora's Mask and Oracle of Ages/Seasons! Quite frankly, the 6 year dev cycle does not show in the final product. That's very worrying from a production standpoint when it comes to the future of the series. If they're struggling to put out what is oestenably a glorified DLC expansion, how long will it take them to make a completely brand new Zelda from scratch? 10 years!?
  11. I will also say, I really appreciate the nod to the Ultrahand in this game. Always makes me smile whenever Nintendo acknowledges its pre-video game era history. We've seen a serious lack of this throughout the Switch era, so it's real nice to see them show a bit of overdue respect to their past here Just goes to show that Nintendo still haven't given up on reviving old ideas in a new form. Also... Poor Rare...
  12. The new mechanics look really cool, especially the Fusion mechanic. The fact that enemies can equip fused weapons is also genius and will go a long way towards adding some much needed variety to the enemies (which was woefully lacking in BOTW). That being said though? I'm still not convinced that this game really needed 6+ years of development. It does still look to be to BOTW what MM was to OoT, so I cannot understand why this blatant asset reuse sequel took even longer to make than the original BOTW? I'm still convinced that something went horribly wrong during this game's development (and no, COVID is not an excuse).
  13. Radical Dreamers isn’t an RPG, it’s a text adventure game. Was previously exclusive to the the JPN-only SNES Satellaview. Localised into English and re-released for the first time ever with this Switch/PS4/PC collection. Chrono Cross is a semi-remake/very loose retelling of Radical Dreamers in the form of a traditional RPG that greatly expands on the original story (and arguably not for the better). If you’re getting this for Chrono Cross and you haven’t played many RPGs? Honestly? I wouldn’t bother. Its battle system is very esoteric and confusing, and its story and gameplay structure is all over the place. It is a terrible choice of RPG for a relative RPG newbie. Also, it’s a sequel to Chrono Trigger, so you really should play that first (though arguably you’re better off not playing CC as it performs some SERIOUS character assassination that will leave a real sour taste in your mouth if you’re a big CT fan). Radical Dreamers though? I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very unique take on the text adventure that acts as a Survival Horror game of all things! I literally bought the collection just for RD and had no regrets!
  14. But Radical Dreamers is only about 2-3 hours long!
  15. It's basically a done deal at this point now. There's no ground left for the FTC to stand on.
  16. Fixed that for you.
  17. Apologies for the necrobump, but I saw this today and thought it was super cool! https://www.acer.com/us-en/monitors/spatiallabs/acer-spatiallabs-view Acer have just released a portable 15' screen that uses the same Parallax Barrier + Headtracking S3D tech as in the New 3DS! It's a 4K display that can display glassesless S3D at full 1080p via HDMI/USB-c! Really nice to see someone keeping the glassessless S3D dream alive with new advancements in display tech! Man, I'd kill to see Nintendo use this tech with Switch 2! I fucking love S3D!
  18. I'm surprised that it only cost him around $23,000. Would've figured that the entierty of both shops would've cost more than that. The 300 title limit must surely be driving him nuts though
  19. The world’s smallest shovel!
  20. Interesting that neither game was shown in the announcement video's roadmap... Guess that means that GB/GBC won't be following in order like what GBA/N64 are doing. Xevious is also notable because Namco currently sell it seperately as part of their NamcoT Collection releases on Switch/PS4/Xbone/PC... Might that mean that we may be getting more stuff from Namco in the future now? (Though I'd be a LOT more interested in Konami's and S-E's classic output if the NSO licensing money could stretch for that...).
  21. Worth noting that total software sales numbers are actually on a downward trend and have been since the end of the PSWii60 generation. The truth is that the “traditional” (i.e non- Nintendo) console industry is contracting, and has been contracting for more than a decade now. That’s the real reason why you’ve seen the rise of MTX as software sales get compressed into a smaller and smaller number of big tentpole games and companies aim to offset falling retail software revenue with increasing digital margins and squeezing more and more money out of an ever dwindling audience. Pretty much everyone on the console side outside of Nintendo has failed to really bring in new audiences to console gaming. And as the current audience continues to die off, so too will the traditional side of the industry. This is why you’re seeing companies now starting to pivot towards subscription services and hardware agnosticity. Even the likes of Sony now release their first party titles on PC, as they realise that the traditional console industry is living off of borrowed time. As for what this has to do with TOTK? This is just NOA moving their pricing in line with what NCL and NOE already did with BOTW, because they’re now in a position where they can justify the price hike (They would never have been able to get away with it back in 2017, when it was literally do or die for the company coming off the Wii U and throwing everything at the Hail Mary that was the NX/ Switch).
  22. I guess Mike Mayfield believed in the No Win Scenario then
  23. Or they replace everyone and reboot MOTD... I honestly wouldn't put it past the BBC to do this. They weren't afraid to reboot Top Gear after what happened with Jeremy Clarkson, and that's literally the BBC's single most popular programme.
