Stick with the SNES original. Every subsequent version of FF6 is worse than the SNES original. These are the versions I would personally recommend for FF1-6... FF1 = GBA or PSP FF2 = GBA or PSP FF3 = Pixel Remaster (The DS 3D remake is a very different game that is horrendously balanced and face punchingly hard. PR is your only option for playing the original 2D game in English) FF4 = PSP (The GBA version is also ok... but ONLY the European release, the US version is crippled by horrible bugs, of which most, but not all, were fixed in the EU release. Like FF3 DS, the 3D DS remake is a very different game compared to the original, and was balanced with nothing but pure spite and malice towards the player) FF5 = GBA FF6 = SNES

The PS4 & Switch versions are upgraded over the PC releases... NOW FEATURING A (ugly) PIXEL FONT! (it's better than nothing) The opening credits for FF6 have been restored! You can now select the original BGM! (not quite sure why you would, when half the reason to even own the Pixel Remaster versions is for the redone OST) You can now adjust EXP drops/encounter rates/gil drops Bravely Default style! And you can still walk diagonally! (and it's still just as super wrong as before!) Comes out April 19th on Switch and PS4.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp (21st April 2023)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's almost here! At long last! And here's 10 minutes of gameplay to prove it! The new music arrangements are SO SICK!!!!!! I LOVE all the new interactive music changes as well, like how there's a different version of the themes during battle scenes, or when you're building units! Andy and Nell's theme sound SO FUCKING GOOD!! Jake Kaufman DOES NOT MISS! Edit: Seems that you have to actually unlock the AW2 campaign... That's the choice I personally would've made (Since AW2 is really built on top of AW1 and kind of expects the player to already be familiar with AW1), so I'm happy about this, but I can imagine this choice pissing some people off... Brave decision. Edit 2: Looks like you CAN actually play AW2 first, but the game gives you a "YOU'RE DUMB FOR DOING THIS!" warning before you do... -
NEWS!!! https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/creatures-inc-ceo-steps-down-amidst-high-level-shakeup-at-pokemon-studio/ As of now, Tsunekazu Ishihara remains as CEO/President of TPC, but he's gone from Creatures; as is Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka. That's pretty huge, considering that Ishihara and Tanaka were two of Creatures' original founders (Yes, they both worked on Earthbound at Ape.inc as well). I wonder if their depature has anything to do with the state of S/V... Or maybe they're both just winding down and preparing for retirement (they're both 65 now after all).

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If you cheese the RNG and get stupidly lucky with things like paralysis, crits, OHKO moves, Thunder etc; it might just about be possible? It’s literally like a 1 in 50,000 chance or something stupid like that. Normal gameplay though? Absolutely no way. Round 2 trainers literally use hacked ‘mons with illegal movesets and stat spreads. You simply aren’t equipped to beat them, you aren’t supposed to be able to use Rental Pokémon to win. The entire point is to force the player to use their own ‘mons from the GB games. -
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)

No Transfer Pak support means that the single player cup battle mode is literally unbeatable. You literally cannot beat Round 2 with the rental Pokemon. You're playing this for the minigames (which ARE really good mind you). But that's still massively disappointing. -

Cube Tries to Play (Almost) Every Sonic Game
Dcubed replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Yeah, TMOSTH is great! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It's great when the punchline to a joke is that the joke game is actually good! -
10 Years Later: How 'The Year of Luigi' changed gaming
Dcubed replied to Ashley's topic in Nintendo Gaming
They are indeed still there, as is the Luigi Bros NES ROM hack -
So I've watched the Tetris movie... It's... pretty heavily embellished from the real story (unnecessarily I'd say, since the real story is already pretty dramatic as-is), and there's some pretty ridiculous contrivances and some inaccuracies here and there, but I still enjoyed it. The best bit was that they wove in parts of the Robert Maxwell story in with the movie. That was really cool. Obviously it's all very much dramatized, but it's really cool to see their perspective on the story. Some parts of the real story are shuffled around for the sake of drama, but it's mostly believable enough to get the point across. It's not an accurate telling of the real story, and there are some pretty eye rolling moments which are pretty ridiculous, but it's a fun movie with enough of the real-life story intact. I'd say it's worth a watch To speak a bit more specifically... spoilers, obviously! Overall though?

So... TLOU Part 1 on PC is a steaming trash-fire of a port. That's not cool. What's even more super not cool is Naughty Dog trying to throw Iron Galaxy under the bus when they only worked in a minor supporting role (the port was primarily done by Naughty Dog in-house, with Iron Galaxy providing some minor support work)... Fucking shameful behaviour all around. They rushed this out before it was ready because they wanted to cash in on the TV show's success. Don't drag poor Iron Galaxy through your mud!

Well played IGN. This is actually legit funny.

So... Platinum Games just put out their April Fools for this year... It's the next game in their Neo Classic Arcade series. A side scrolling run n' gun starring their fake Japanese v-tuber mascot, tentatively titled "Pt Spectacular Side-Scrolling Action". Now, considering that Sol Cresta originally started out as an April Fools joke itself? There's a very good chance that this will actually turn out to be real in the end. They also put out a corkboard of all of the rest of their upcoming Neo Classic Arcade series of games... If we don't end up getting Ultimate Top-View Bastard Action, I'm gonna be very upset now!

The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog (Steam - Out now!)
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in Other Consoles
This game is… surprisingly decent! It’s basically Ace Attorney Lite on a train with Sonic characters. Nice music, fun dialogue, a cool platforming minigame in place of courtroom sessions? And it’s free! Now THIS is an April Fools I can get behind! Well done SEGA! -
Err... does it count as an April Fools if it's actually real?

Here's a bit of a treasure trove for you guys... a collection of footage taken from the very first E3, back in 1995! Contains all three of The Big 3 console manufacturer conferences (including the famous "$299" moment), as well as footage from the showfloor, showcasing prototype footage of games like DKC2 and Lunar Eternal Blue!

To take a positive look at Sony... this is perhaps the most epic beatdown in all of E3 history... It really cannot be overstated just how powerful those two minutes were, for those that never lived through it. That was it. This moment right here signified the fall of an empire and the rebirth of Sony. The entire 8th generation of consoles and the future of the medium was decided in just these two minutes. So powerful were the ramifications of these two minutes that we are still feeling their effects today, 10 years later on! It is the most epic mic drop moment in all of E3 history, and I am including the "$299" moment in that assessment. THAT is the power of classic E3!

E3 2006 was just one big massive fever dream. You had the reveal of the Wii, Sony's real-time weapon change car crash suicide, and the legendary Peter Moore GTA tattoo which signified the loss of Sony's biggest exclusive. It literally defined the future of an entire console generation in a single weekend. That's the true power of a classic E3.
