That was all a dream. Back to Earth never happened! Eh? I'll take it.
-
I basically don't watch TV anymore now. Outside of select US stuff like Breaking Bad and Fringe and the rare documentary that catches my attention on the likes of BBC4, C4 and More 4 (hey I sense a pattern forming here!) Hopefully Red Dwarf X and the new Alan Partridge series turn out to be the shining beacon of hope that this country needs! (We're Bouncing Back baby!)
-
Hopefully there's a story behind that change. Perhaps it's part of the mirror universe that they jumped into?

This week's haul (thanks for not listing it Nintendo, you're soooooo helpful!) Good stuff this week! May just buy it all (Except for Challenge. I wanted the normal boss battle music instead )

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That's if we can get them to put down their Nintendo banners and embrace the BLUE BLUE SKIES OF SEGA! I'll probably pick it up myself. The original game was great and this one looks even better! Plus it fills a nice gap in the Wii U's library Here's hoping that we (FINALLY) get online details from this month's Nintendo Direct (assuming that it's not been cancelled in favour of the usual September/Octoberton conference) -
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U

Fair enough. I don't really care that much about the power stuff myself either, I just don't like bullshit Daily Mail journalism (and wanted to stop the spread before it started!) Anyway! Here's some more goodies from the original article... Sumo Digital are good folk and it all sounds very nice thus far. Nice to see the Asymmetrical Gameplay concept being explored by someone other than Nintendo or Ubisoft! Also interesting to see that devs can utilize different ways to swap screens (so it isn't all done with a standardized button, like what I figured it might be) -
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
All sounds very nice regarding the Wii U's functionality. Nice to see that the main game doesn't really use the UPad for anything massively substantial outside of the typical mini map stuff and off TV play, while the mini games take full advantage of it. I like the sound of Super Monkey Ball Arena too! Classy of Eurogamer to twist the words of the original source for hits though... Here's the original source http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/08/13/sonic-all-stars-racing-transforms-on-wii-u and what he actually said regarding the Wii U's capabilities... -
Isn't it obvious? They're hinting to us to give up on the series and buy RE6 instead!

Probably the most appropriate place to put this... HELL HATH FROZEN OVER!! HYRULE HISTORIA IS GETTING AN OFFICAL ENGLISH RELEASE!!! http://www.diamondbookdistributors.com/downloads/DBD_JAN2013SalesKit.pdf#page=18 JUST HOOK IT TO MY VEINS!!

The ingame voice over in that video is strangely hilarious

I think the idea behind that is that you are supposed to accrue lots of different scores from Streetpass with different level sets that you can challenge and you find yourself asking "how the hell did he get those many coins!?". If the level packs were set, you'd end up playing the same stages over and over again and the Streetpass thing would just end up feeling like a typical local leaderboard (in which case, they'd be better off just making it into an online leaderboard) This way you can discover the best possible combos for earning coins, adds variety for when you're playing in short bursts and keeps things feeling fresh

Reminds me a lot of Lost in Shadows for Wii (Though in reverse) That game turned out to largely be a one trick pony sadly and I fear that this game may be more focused on attempting art for art's sake over exploring what is still largely an untapped game mechanic, so I can only be cautiously optimistic about this one. Please prove my suspicions wrong SCEJ! Regardless though, props to Sony for being the most daring publisher out there right now. They may not necessarily be putting gameplay first, but at least they're willing to give originality a chance!

Looks absolutely fantastic! An honest to goodness original IP, with an honest to goodness original game concept!? (The scissors I mean, the head mechanic is ripped straight out of Dynamite Headdy - which is a good thing BTW!) SIGN ME THE FUCK UP! The art style is incredible too. Looks like truly authentic vintage theatre with a slight Japanese flair to it (the witch's design looks like it was cut straight out of Spirited Away!) Best game of the show for sure!

Same here. Had to force myself to stop at world 4 yesterday for fear of beating the game too quickly! (Along with my usual practice of restarting 2D Mario games on my first time round by erasing the file when I get to World 3) Coin Rush is hellishly addictive BTW! It's the 2D Mario equivalent of Theathrythm's Chaos Shrine
-
And so it should be. 2D Mario games are always short and very sweet; it's just good pacing. This game is roughly the same length as SMB3/SMW/NSMB/NSMB Wii: Were they too short now? Besides, this is a game that you're gonna come back to time and time again (especially with the Coin Rush mode. It's the perfect way to just pick up and play some Mario when you're out and about!)

Wow! World 2-2 feels almost like a DKC2 level! So much vertical platforming
-
HA HA! LOL! Toad kicks you out of the Toad House if you hit him with a fireball
-
Ditto, word for word. The Yellow box is SO PRETTY!!! Edit: Impressions after 2 levels. Right off the bat, the level design is quite a bit different from the first levels you'd see in other 2D Marios. There's more complexity in the first level than you'd normally see and it doesn't seem to follow the usual rule of starting off with a really simple and base mechanic, that is built upon with extra challenge as you progress. It's clearly designed for people who've played Mario games before. Level 2 pulls some neat tricks with mechanics that you already know and love, rather than introducing many new things (though there are a couple) and offers some interesting opportunities for making MONEYMONEY!!! (already at 500 coins BTW!) Overall, liking it quite a bit so far. It feels similar on the surface, but the nitty gritty is quite different. The use of the 3D slider is also quite interesting and probably the coolest use of it since Excitebike 3D Classics (though I think the bokeh depth of field is a bit overdone on the highest setting)

Holy shit! He even goes as far as to use NOA's last line regarding the Op Rainfall games!

A solid showing for us perhaps, but I reckon that the Vita might actually be looking even deader right now than it was before. Its Great White Knight (COD) has, as I suspected, turned out to be a pile of cheap, nihilistic (in more ways than one!) outsourced garbage that no COD addict is gonna want to touch. It'll have about as much impact as the COD games on DS; while its calvary consists of a spinoff of a middling franchise that started poorly in terms of sales and since has gone downhill from there and a new IP from Media Molecule that has the potential to be an interesting, quality game, but very little chance of storming the sales charts. But hey! At least it's becoming the best PS3 accessory ever made, thanks to the Buy One Get Both initiative and the PS1 compatibility. That'll really expand their audience beyond the diehards! (truth be told, I'm actually quite happy about this, despite being snarky about it) At this point, why not just release a slimline PS3, bundle the two consoles together and take on the Wii U? You'd probably make more money on Vita that way!
-
And we could be curing diseases or world hunger instead of playing games... Let the guy have his fun. It's a great mockup!
-
A hilarious gimmick though! Though that's not to say that all yelling/blowing mechanics are a gimmick (Yoshi's Touch N' Go is a great example of an excellent use of it!) I actually think it looks quite fun. I'm not prepared to write its control mechanics off as gimmicks yet; I'm willing to give MM the benefit of the doubt for now (though I thought that they might've made a full game out of the rear touch controls in Little Deviants and look how that ended up...). They've at least got their hearts in the right place with this game (the gameplay is clearly the first thing they focused on, with the art/Brit humour being secondary)
-
GET IN THERE SHOPTO! My one has shipped! Fucking love these guys! Just wish I could go with a UK WiiU so I could buy off of them (but I'm stuck with a US one. Need that BC with Wii retail and VC - plus how else could I play Trauma Team?!)
-
So it's basically Assassin's Creed meets Uncharted meets Heavy Rain... (automatic platforming/cutscene choices and all) No thanks.

It's yet another quasi interactive movie masquerading as a 3rd person shooter game? (like what every AAA budget western game is turning into?)
