  1. You can turn your friends into poo!? Day 1! 9 out of the 12 games can be played in single player (with the remaining 3 being multiplayer only). The three on the left are single and multiplayer games, the three in the middle are multiplayer only games, and the six games on the right are single player games that other players can assist with in a co-op mode. BTW, does anyone else find it really funny that Pikmin Adventure looks far better than Pikmin 3 from a graphical perspective? (Yeah I know, Pikmin 3 was a Wii port and that's why PA looks better, but I still find it really funny)
  2. The only games that Capcom have ever released that have had online added just for the western release were We Love Golf and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom (both of which just happen to be Wii games and the latter of the two was re-released with online in Japan later on as an international version of sorts)
  3. I wouldn't take the news about the selling of Wii U pre-orders to be really indicative of a bright future just yet... The 3DS broke sales records upon release and we all know that the months following after launch didn't live up to expectations... That being said, I'm feeling pretty bullish about its immediate future. Support looks pretty good ATM (particularily from Activision and Ubisoft) and the launch window at least looks pretty healthy. Whether or not that can be sustained however is another matter entirely (let alone what the impact will be when the PS4 and 720 comes out) Speaking of which, that rumoured delay for Durango/720 till March 2014, could really work in Nintendo's favour if they can consitently build up western support over the next year (Japanese support should come from just about everyone other than Koji Pro at least) Even just securing the likes of Watchdogs and Star Wars 1313 (let alone ports of already existing and soon to be released titles) as future releases somewhere down the line would really do wonders for the console's image and should be easily doable (they have a good relationship with Ubisoft and Lucasarts have no issues with Nintendo platforms) Other than those games (and possibly a UE4 title or two), the only other real must have title that would really turn dudebro heads is GTA5 - and I really don't think that there's anything Nintendo can do to secure that one sadly (the Houser brothers are too proud and too powerful to let that happen); and on top of that, they really need at least one significant western focused title as an exclusive. Bayonetta 2 is a good start, but that's not nearly enough by itself (it is a niche title after all and will only turn the heads of forum goers). It has to be something big from an established team that is big in dudebro circles (at least on the sales level of something like Gears of War - though I don't see Epic as being willing to support Nintendo...) Either way, this year head start is pretty much Nintendo's only chance to capture these major western 3rd party titles and subsequently the dudebro audience that dominates the PS360. If they can't make significant inroads in the west during this time period, then they can say goodbye to any significant western support for the rest of the generation.
  4. Not to mention that the Wii U game will have, in all likeliness, no local multiplayer (aside from with 3DS players) and of course no S3D (which will massively benefit the underwater combat!) I think they've differentiated them nicely and should compliment each other very well. GODDAMMIT I WANT IT ALREADY! My 3DS is crying for this game!!
  5. Some more details have emerged regarding the western release of Tri U... http://nintendoeverything.com/99323/capcom-no-online-for-mh3-ultimate-3ds-wii-u-version-uses-nintendo-servers-tri-server-shutdown-lots-more/ Interesting to see that the Wii U game will be hosted on Nintendo's own standard console servers that they offer as standard to all online games, instead of Capcom's own private ones like they did with Tri Wii. I guess that means that the feature set as seen in this game would be standard across all Wii U titles (and would mean that Capcom wouldn't be able to shut the servers down, as is sadly happening with Tri Wii) Here's hoping for cross region online play! (Considering that most games running on Nintendo's servers allow cross region play, barring a few exceptions like Mario Tennis Open and Mario Strikers Charged, I reckon there's a decent chance of it happening! )
  6. Wow! Apparently Metroid Blast has at least 16 stages! http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/impressions/31750 That's almost as many as the entirety of Metroid Prime Hunters!
  7. A nice indepth interview going over some of the specifics behind how NintendoTVii works http://news.cnet.com/1606-2_3-50131229.html It's like a universal remote that can automatically detect and interface with the Cable/Satellite set-top box you're using and automatically change the source on your TV to the correct channel/input (to watch and control live TV as well as streaming video) all without any sort of built in DVR pass through!? HOLY SHIT!!! I'VE BEEN WANTING SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR YEARS!!! NOE!!! GET THIS OUT IN THE UK NOW AND GET IT WORKING WITH MY SKY+ HD BOX RIGHT NOW!!! Now all it needs is the ability to stream videos from my PC in all formats and it's the ultimate media centre device! (apart from playing DVDs/Blurays, but if it's able to switch my TV over to my Bluray player then that solves that problem too! )
  8. Ooh, I like the way you think! Like in Silent Hill or RE: Revelations - which sort of did this (though it still gave you a hint through the screen colour being drained away as your health decreased) - and it made those games much more interesting! Maybe as a G/+ Rank requirement in MH4...
  9. Precisely my point. The best games that these guys had made ( be it at Capcom or Clover/Platinum) are the ones that they were allowed to tailor make to a specific console. The likes of DMC1, VJ, RE4, Bayonetta, God Hand and Okami are as good as they are, partially because they were able to focus on getting the most out of one specific piece of hardware and one specific controller. BTW saw this earlier, it's a good laugh
  10. Some of us do own multiple consoles you know I'm a huge Platinum Games/Clover Studios fan and I've played and loved all of their games (except Vanquish - just not my cup of tea. Seems not even they can make me enjoy a 3rd person cover shooter ) I was devastated when I heard that Bayo 2 got cancelled. Never in a million years did I expect to see it get revived (let alone by Nintendo!) Not only is it good to see it come back, but I think the focus on a single console ( instead of having it being multiplatform) will actually benefit the game's development. They'll be able to focus on the game design itself, rather than waste dev time ensuring that it runs on multiple consoles - plus they're no longer forced to add Achivements if they don't want to and they can choose to take advantage of the Wii U Gamepad too! (if not for anything special in terms of gameplay, than just simply for off TV play) Quite simply, I couldn't be happier about it! Here's hoping that this game (and The WOOO) leads to a long and stable partnership between Nintendo & Platinum! (cause let's face it, who else would be willing to publish their titles?)
  11. Blue Rescue Team (the 1st game) and Explorers of Sky (the enhanced re-release of the 2nd game - think Pokemon Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum) The stories dont carry on from one another, so you don't have to play the 1st game first, but I'd still recommend doing so as you'll appreciate the changes made in the sequel much moreso (plus the sequel is more complex and content packed than the 1st one, so Blue Rescue Team will ease you in moreso)
  12. As long as I can still happily do all those things, I don't mind buying two versions (and everything you described is perfectly possible with both versions combined) Yeah it sucks that you can't play online with just the 3DS version (and that seemingly, you can't play locally with just the Wii U version), but this is a very reasonable compromise. Remember, just a couple of days ago we had all but given up all hope of getting the game at all - now not only are we getting the game, but we're also getting the ability to play online and on the TV in addition to just getting the 3DS version. You're kind of missing the forest for the trees here. I was ecstatic to hear that we were getting the game at all, let alone alongside an online/cross platform compatible Wii U version! I'd like a rainbow coloured pony as well, but it really doesnt matter. Besides, I still want the 3DS version more than the Wii U one anyway. Local multiplayer is more important to me than online anyway (let alone the S3D and portability factors!)
  13. It might be lazy but ultimately not a big deal since the Wii U version has online (and you'd have to be at home to play it online anyway) I'd be upset if there was no Wii U version, but as it stands (I'm getting both versions) it makes no difference if the 3DS one has online or not. I'll happily play on the 3DS version for single and local multiplayer and the Wii U one for online (or single player if I feel like playing on a TV) The only thing I really miss out on is playing in S3D while playing online, but that really isn't a huge deal if I can happily play multi with my friends on the 3DS anyway. It's an issue, but not a really huge one that's worth getting upset about.
  14. OMG YES! Looks amazing!!! (also confirms that Chunsoft are making it - as if there was any doubt) Very faithful to the DS games (awesome 2D portrait images and all!) while simultaneously taking advantage of all 3D has to offer in terms of presentation with the cutscenes and such. All the old sound effects are still there and that theme song, HNNGGGHHH!!! GIMME! NOW!!!
  15. Ditto on this for me! Those prices are awfully tempting, but I'm not willing to leave delivery times to chance...
  16. Lucky bastard!!! (good going! : peace:)
  17. Can't wait for New Super Mario Bros U on 360 next year then, if Nintendo are now porting their own 1st & 2nd party funded games on other consoles!
  18. Denpa Ningen (Now known as The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave) is getting released in the US on September 27! (no word on an EU release yet...) http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/Dw7BnMf9gQ03whlp0eS0yUmAhJTYcPP8 For those who've forgotten, it's an RPG (made by Genius Sonority of Pokemon Colloseum/XD fame) where you collect strange Denpa Men to go with you on Dragon Quest style RPG adventures. Should be a demo coming as well if the old Siliconera story (that was taken down, seemingly because they broke some sort of embargo) is anything to go by.
  19. You pay for the reduced price with your time. Their deliveries are ridiculously slow. But here's hoping it convinces the likes of Shopto and Amazon to follow suit!
  20. Oh no doubt it will, but they're gonna have to retool the emulators used for each game one by one and that's gonna take time. I would hope that they would offer free upgrades when it does happen for each game, but we'll have wait and see (hopefully there's one smart journalist out there asking this question...)
  21. Ahh crap. Pre-order cancelled (Just gonna go with the normal Premium one) Cheers for the heads up! : peace:
  22. True, the RRP is £50, but nobody sells it for that. Not even Game (and we know how much of a ripoff merchant they are!) No way will anyone even consider selling them for £50. They'll all end up getting sold for £30-40; same price as everything else.
  23. If it's like the Wii's GCN backward's compatibility mode or the 3DS' "DSi Mode" (and from the sounds of things, it is), that wont be possible. The Wii U's hardware would shut itself off, leaving only the original Wii hardware running and unable to access any of the Wii U's functionality.
  24. !? Where do you buy your PS360 games!? I haven't seen them being sold for £50 since 2007!
  25. Nintendo Land is cheaper than NSMBU in Japan (Which would indicate a $50 pricepoint in the US) and Sonic & All Stars Racing is $40. I bet the pricing scale will vary much moreso on Wii U than it did with PS360. You'll have plenty of titles from Nintendo ranging across the board. Game & Wario will probably be $40 or $50, while Pikmin 3 will go for $60. Of course none of that matters for us here, where Nintendo will probably just charge the full £40 price on everything (and Shopto will sell it at £30-35 )
