Oh BTW, no surprise but the retail re-releases coming to the eShop in Japan are selling at their original RRP... http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/dlsoft/index.html This EU Nintendo Direct had better herald the release of those DD download cards in retail stores over here, it's absolutely infuriating to see NOE and NOA squander the potential of this model!
-
Ugh! So annoying that they continue to show nothing of Little Inferno!!! You'd think with less than 2 months to go before release that, oh I dunno, you might want to actually show off the game itself?
-
So MH3U is the first 3rd party title to get a dual retail/eShop release then. Great to see that non 1st party titles are finally joining in!
-
Hmm, no Steel Diver? Bit strange that they wouldn't include that one (come to think of it, Fire Emblem Awakening and Kid Icarus Uprising are missing too!) Can anyone with knowledge of Japanese gleam any details about how the cartridge save transfers work? (Please be an OS level feature! I'd absolutely love to be able to backup and transfer my cartridge/DD game save data to SD card via PC - Take THAT Mercenaries 3D!) Also, did they just say that the web version of the eShop is being released today?
-
As much as I'd love to believe it, I doubt it's gonna happen. It's not the type of thing to be unveiled at an EU exclusive Nintendo Direct. Most likely it's just being done to throw people off.
-
Shibata: "I hope you are all looking forward to Paper Mario Sticker Star, because it's available right now on eShop!"
-
The Nigoro games you find do have beneficial effects later on. If you combine them with other games, you get various stat boosts.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot that the UK Wii VC was 50hz only. Fair point. Well... NOUK didn't deny 60hz support on Wii U VC when I emailed them at least! So there's at least some hope! (running the 2D games in Hd res will do absolutely nothing though - they'll just look identical to how they look on Wii)
-
WTF!? Another one!? (And a proper one this time!!! ) This has to be focused around EU release dates. So far absolutely nothing is scheduled with a proper release date other than Layton Mask of Miracles this month. I expect release dates for Paper Mario SS, Devilishly Difficult Brain Training, Fire Emblem Awakening, Style Savvi/Style Boutique and CrossworDS Plus and maybe a few eShop titles (including Hana Samurai and Nano Assault EX) I don't expect anything actually new to be announced (especially if it's for EU only) Man! Nintendo Direct and Red Dwarf X on the same day!? MY BODY IS NOT READY FOR ALL THE AWESOME!!!

Oh wow, the Gold Rush pack is ridiculous! Got 30,000 on my first try. You really will rack up a million coins in no time with this one I haven't managed to beat the first level of the Nerve Wracking Pack yet! (It really does deserve all 5 difficulty stars! ) Can't help myself from trying to go for the Gold Flower in the first level Has anyone managed to beat the level while also nabbing the flower yet?
-
Only tried the Coin Challenge pack so far, but it's fun. I like how it has a different focus in its level design than the levels in the main game. Gives me a nice SMA4 vibe Also nice to see the fat hammer bros return from SMB3/NSMB Wii - Good to see that the new levels also have new enemies/mechanics to play with Will try the other two packs later (looking forward to giving the Nerve Wracking Pack a shot on my work commute!)
-
Ok got my message. Annoying to see that they offer absolutely no discount for buying the 3 pack set Would've been perfect to see that go for £5 Ahh well, the shop music is nice at least
-
Talk about a price hike! £2 per pack!? It's like Theatrhythm (US and EU got the DLC songs cheaper than Japan did) but in reverse
-
WTF!? Why haven't I got my Spotpass notification yet!? Does kinda make me worry about what might happen if someone buys the game down the line and they're not sending out the notification any more. How else is someone meant to access the ingame store? Edit: Oh never mind, apparently they said that if you haven't played in a long time, it will take longer to receive the message for the packs... I suppose the Spotpass message is pinged from the server when you play the game and it prepares a data package with your total coin count to be sent to Nintendo. I suppose that means that the Spotpass message will continue to get sent automatically and indefinitely so long as the 3DS online service continues to run (which is presumably forever)

http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/10/01/crash-lab-life-after-rareware-and-free-radical/ Timesplitters 2 HD Confirmation that JFG GBC had nothing to do with Rare The fabled Timber 64 never existed Donkey Kong Racing (and the revelation that it did get to a playable state, beyond that CGI video!) So it's possible that someone may have a prototype to share after all! The reason why we haven't seen any more past Rare games on XBLA There's plenty more goodness in the interview, including some anecdotes from their days at Nintendo that I'm sure you guys would love! Oh and as an added bonus, have some beta footage of Kameo for Xbox on me! (Courtesy of ptoponline/Borman!) Enjoy! The unfinished ending to Kameo Xbox...

Now half an hour of Twelve Tales Conker 64 appears!
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Heh, funny you should mention that. An interview that was just released revealed that it was actually never in development http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/10/01/crash-lab-life-after-rareware-and-free-radical/ :p -
N-Europe's Top 50 Wii Games: The Results [NUMBERS 10-1!!]
Dcubed replied to Cube's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Surprised that Punchout, Rhythm Heaven Fever and Fire Emblem RD scored so low! Thought they'd be up much higher. Nice to see that Rabbids Go Home made it onto the list -
Well said. LA is one of my favourites in the series and it's partially because it's so compact. It has a tighter focus on each individual moment than any other game in the series and features some of the most brilliant level designs in the series! At times it feels like a parody of Zelda, while feeling like a perfect personification of what Zelda is all about at the same time. A truly timeless classic and one of the most touching games in the series As for the DX extras, I like them - but I think they're best experienced only after you've played the game normally as in the original B&W version. It's fun seeking out the extra stuff and messing round with them, even if the colour dungeon tunics arguably break the balance of the game (though in a fun way for S&Gs ) That being said, it's only really Twilight Princess that has ridiculously huge dungeons. The other games in the series (including the DS Zeldas and Skyward Sword) feature much shorter dungeons.

Why not just get ALTTP on the Wii? (You have one don't you?)
-
I bet that they changed the words in order to not have to do separate recordings for each and every supported language. Bit of a shame, but understandable (especially when you consider that they're releasing the game just 4 months after Japan)
-
Is it me or are Nintendo not really doing much to hype this game up? I haven't seen any TV ads yet and their online efforts aren't nearly as strong as they were for B&W, hell we still haven't even had a decent proper English trailer! (And no, that cheap and shoddily made 1 minute crapfest doesn't count) Have I missed something?

Generally speaking, most newer (quality) sets will have 3D as a simple bullet point feature - so you're not getting a better 2D picture by avoiding a 3D capable set. I'm assuming that input lag is a big factor for you... in which case, you're not gonna find a lot of newer LCD sets that have low input lag without resorting to the absolutely ghastly looking "Game Mode" that most sets come with... If you're after a Plasma set, then you've got a bigger choice of low latency sets (and as luck would have it, that's a sticking point that Panasonic are generally good with - so you may wish to look up their sets) Me personally, I prefer LCD (ugh, phosphor trails...) and given that all I wanted was a TV that delivered on great image quality and low latency (didnt give a toss about the TV's sound quality or streaming tech - as my Reciever handles all that anyway) it was the best choice for me. Your requirements may vary, but I'm assuming that we're looking for similar things here. Generally speaking, best thing to do is define a set of features it absolutely MUST have (low latency, certain number of HDMI inputs etc) and draw up a short-list - then go to town on doing research on each of them.
-
Oh yeah, Samsung do great LCDs - their plasmas are generally average though (Right now, Panasonic are the go to brand for Plasmas) Though there's obviously much more to TV choice than just going by the popular brand...
