Well, that was a bit quicker than the last wait between sequels! :D (The cliffhanger ending of Risky's Revenge did kind of make it obvious that a sequel was in the works mind you :p )

Plane switching in S3D (ALA Mutant Mudds) please! :D

  2. This is for Europe

    From 06/11/2012 18:00 GMT to 07/11/2012 01:00 GMT

Some parts of the service are currently suspended due to temporary maintenance.

We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience

    http://www.nintendo.co.jp/netinfo/en_GB/index.html

Heh :heh: I didn't even know that they had a maintenance page for all their services (even shows service problems per game too - guess those Pokemon Black/White server problems explain why Game Sync wasn't working for me earlier today!)

  3. YOU HAVE TO BUY THE NEW ART ACADEMY LESSONS?!?! DISGUSTING!!!!!

I just bought it recently because I quite like the lessons idea and heard there were new lessons. Didn't know you had to buy them :(

Not all of them are paid DLC, some of them are free.

Also you can download other custom lessons, that people made themselves, for free too.

  4. It's a good haul this week :)

Will be buying Pokedex 3D Pro and Rising Board 3D :D

If you can't remember what Rising Board is, it's that Pop Island spinoff game where you endlessly surf for as long as you can.

  5. Well, at least we can alter coin placement.

True this. I am actually really looking forward to that :D

I'm the kind of guy who hates making levels in Little Big Planet because it's so excessively complicated - but I could easily see myself making some killer customised Coin Battle levels (I can't wait to make a level with a single coin that everyone has to fight over for )

Simple, yet powerful enough to enable lots of creativity without too much work. That's the ticket :)

  6. Fine, you win. Being able to design your own custom levels would suck. Kids would hate it, no one would ever be able to touch the genius of Nintendo's own designers, it would make the overall game worse and being able to customize coin placement sounds awesome.

It's not that it would suck, it's just that development time is finite and that they need to prioritise perfecting the craft of their own levels over making a level editor for the average person to use.

Nintendo aren't exactly opposed to offering up level editors for players (F-zero X Expansion Kit, Excitebike, Wario Ware DIY, Mario VS DK 2-4, New Art Academy, Picross DS and Picross 3D are all fine examples), it's just that it needs to fit the game that they're making.

If the entire game isn't based around user generated content (ALA Wario Ware DIY, Mario Paint, Wii Music or the F-Zero X Expansion Kit), then the process needs to be simplified, restrictive and yet intuitive enough for the average person to create quality content (Picross, New Art Academy's lesson creator and even NSMBU's Coin Battle user placable coins are a good example of this)

Otherwise it becomes too complex for the average person (and wouldn't result in quality user generated content) and just takes away from valuable development time that could be better spent elsewhere.

  7. People on here seemed to like how different the levels felt in New Super Mario Bros. 2 because they were designed by people who had never made Super Mario levels before, so just think of the levels you'd be able to play if people could create and share their own levels on the Wii U.

But yeah, I guess that doesn't suit Mario for some reason. That's a good point, Serebii. :indeed:

The people who made NSMB2 were not amateurs, they've worked on plenty of other Nintendo titles and are a clear cut above other developers (let alone the general public!)

Fanmade levels are nowhere near as good as Nintendo's own ones; and that's not even taking into account the 4/5 player element. Designing levels to work just as well in 1 player as they do with 4/5 players is bloody hard; NSMB Wii was the first of its kind and it's a tremendous accomplishment from a purely level design perspective (and really, the Mario series is all about level design at its fundamental core).

Level design is an art, not a science. It's something that can only really be crafted to the quality that Nintendo deliver by a select few and most community made levels would be utter shite (giving a false impression of the rest of the game)

Why waste time developing something that will only lower the overall quality of the game? It's not like the game is lacking content and variety as it is :hmm:

I suppose in that respect, you could say that the customisable coin placement in Coin Battle mode is a nice compromise solution. Gives players a taste of what designing levels is like, adds endless amounts of variety in that mode and doesn't tarnish the game as a whole :)

  8. - More to the game outside of the main campaign

Given the plethora of different modes on offer, I can believe this. I get the feeling that this game is gonna have a LOT of longevity :)

I will profess though that I am a bit disappointed that it seems like it wont be as hard as NSMB Wii. Granted, it's the hardest game in the series and represents The Lost Levels if you were to chart the NSMB series against the SMB series timeline (SMB/NSMB, SMBLL/NSMBWii, SMB3/NSMB2, SMW/NSMBU), but I was still hoping for that kind of level of raw challenge.

Oh well, I guess that's what the in-game challenges are for!

  9. - Attraction mode: set up a Nintendo Land party; choose a time limit and player count and then head to a points-based tournament of mini-games

Oh boy! All those memories of Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2's minigames suddenly come flooding back to me :bouncy:

Can't wait! (BTW, I still play those minigames with my friends occasionally)

  10. I'm hoping they get enough stock. Was a bit of a misleading of them to suddenly list loads of new bundles on Friday. Still, it's my own soft fault!

Well it may still happen. There are probably a good few people that gave up their slots in order to get that bundle, so it may still be possible that you'll get it on launch day!

  11. OK spoke to them and the exact words were "in regards to where you were on the preorder list, that's completely gone now" :(

However, he said they'll be receiving exact numbers from Nintendo within the next few days and send tickets out to all customers informing them (I assume of a delivery estimate).

Might try sainsburys. Worst comes to the worst I'll do what I did with the Wii and queue first thing at our local blockbuster =/

Edit: Oh wait, I forgot, you switched your pre-order didn't you? I guess that does corrobate what the guy told me then :(

    Damn, sorry man :(

Well either way, I've cancelled the new one and am gonna wait to see what they say regarding stock levels later on this week before switching.

  12. Definitely keeping my original order...got it within the first hour of it being up

Looks like you may be right... I just got a reply from Shopto (from that ticket I sent on Saturday...)

We are currently waiting on numbers from Nintendo for release date but we would advising keeping your current pre order. We will be releasing information direct from Nintendo in the coming week. This will advise on stock levels and at this point if enough stock is available I would advise making an order fro a different bundle.

    Regards,

    Andy

Well that's clear at least. I wonder if this "launch window rollout" is a standard thing that Nintendo are doing across all retailers? (would explain why the information is coming from Nintendo directly...)

  13. I hope they let us know beforehand...I have a backup of a friend who works at Tesco which I'll use, but this is being ridiculous

From the looks of those tweet replies, they'll tell you via one of their stupid tickets when your one is gonna be sent out

I'll ring em when the line opens and see what other info I can gleam out of them...

  14. That actually worries me even more

    Found the tweet:

Oh dear... So they have taken more pre-orders than they have actual stock then... :(

I don't suppose that it makes much of a difference then if I get the new bundle or not. Eitherway, it seems like it may be a crapshoot :(

  15. Worth getting if I have the Wii (and PS2) version but never got round to playing it?

The only addition here is 1080p resolution visuals.

Just depends on how much you care about picture quality (I'd say yes myself, but you're not missing out on any gameplay by not getting it)

  16. Someone on GAF claims to have recieved a tweet from Shopto, regarding switching bundles and losing their day 1 slot (I can't seem to find the original tweet, so take it for what it is).

With Wii U there will be a launch Window of 2 weeks no the usual 1 day release.. and yes you will get it ..

Seems good (I would assume that the 2 week "launch window" is referring to a series of rolling shipments before launch (in which case, couldn't they theoretically send it out 2 weeks early?)

  17. Yeah, I downloaded the demo on Thursday. Haven't tried it yet.

That means that there's a second demo already up now for you to download (Fashion Contest)

I've got both (and it seems that they fixed the online problem for the Shopping Demo, so that's working now - they probably weren't planning on activating the online portion of the demo just yet, until they accidentally released it too early!)

  18. Anyone else get the Style Boutique demo?

    It's surprisingly fun :D

Oh BTW, for anyone who already downloaded the Shopping Experience demo, the Fashion Contest one is up now (Nintendo uploaded the Shopping one on Thursday by mistake - that's not supposed to be out till next week I think and isn't working properly right now)

Also, Jett Rocket 2 is coming out within the next few months!

    http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/10/31/shinen-mega-interview-harnessing-the-wii-u-power/

After Neo Nano Assault for Wii U and EX on 3DS, also Jet Rocket 2 that you’ve announced, what can you tell us about your coming games?

Yes, we’re developing a new Jett Rocket game for 3DS. It’s a fast paced action jump’n'run! We’re currently applying the finishing touches and hope to release it in a few months. We’re also already planing a new Wii U game. We can’t talk about it yet but we will announce it early next year.

  19. Could have jsut kept both orders until there's confirmation

That's what I'm doing at Shopto. I've pre-ordered the new bundle as well as my older 32GB Nintendo Land bundle. If the word is good, I'll cancel the old one - if not, I'll just cancel the new one.

    Sorted either way :)

  20. Yeah, I want that one. I just need to be able to switch my order without losing my slot...

Also, any idea if it still comes with the Nintendo Network Premium discount deal? If so, that's stonkingly good value! :D
