  1. Oh dear... So they have taken more pre-orders than they have actual stock then... I don't suppose that it makes much of a difference then if I get the new bundle or not. Eitherway, it seems like it may be a crapshoot
  2. The only addition here is 1080p resolution visuals. Just depends on how much you care about picture quality (I'd say yes myself, but you're not missing out on any gameplay by not getting it)
  3. Someone on GAF claims to have recieved a tweet from Shopto, regarding switching bundles and losing their day 1 slot (I can't seem to find the original tweet, so take it for what it is). http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=43950168&postcount=110 Seems good (I would assume that the 2 week "launch window" is referring to a series of rolling shipments before launch (in which case, couldn't they theoretically send it out 2 weeks early?)
  4. That means that there's a second demo already up now for you to download (Fashion Contest) I've got both (and it seems that they fixed the online problem for the Shopping Demo, so that's working now - they probably weren't planning on activating the online portion of the demo just yet, until they accidentally released it too early!)
  5. Anyone else get the Style Boutique demo? It's surprisingly fun Oh BTW, for anyone who already downloaded the Shopping Experience demo, the Fashion Contest one is up now (Nintendo uploaded the Shopping one on Thursday by mistake - that's not supposed to be out till next week I think and isn't working properly right now) Also, Jett Rocket 2 is coming out within the next few months! http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/10/31/shinen-mega-interview-harnessing-the-wii-u-power/
  6. That's what I'm doing at Shopto. I've pre-ordered the new bundle as well as my older 32GB Nintendo Land bundle. If the word is good, I'll cancel the old one - if not, I'll just cancel the new one. Sorted either way
  7. Yeah, I want that one. I just need to be able to switch my order without losing my slot... Also, any idea if it still comes with the Nintendo Network Premium discount deal? If so, that's stonkingly good value!
  8. Based on a quick search, it seems alright. Input lag is around 33ms supposedly (a good result by industry standards and shouldn't be too noticable - Game Mode supposedly does nothing in this set so just leave it off) There are some issues with backlight bleed and screen uniformity though - meaning that black levels aren't the best and will appear slightly blue-ish) Pic from AVS to demonstrate... Also be warned that there are multiple panel types for this TV, with some being better than others (The Samsung S-PVA Panel is supposedly the best one and can be identified by a version number on the box that goes something like T203 - or some other number that follows; so long as it has T, you're fine). If you really care a lot about the image quality, you might want to try and ask what code it has on the box... Colour reproduction and motion handling are good, at least with the non Sharp ones, so it should look fine in normal circumstances (i.e, not in dark scenes) For that price, it's not a bad set. As long as you're not expecting the world with it, go for it
  9. So once again, Early 2013 is the real Xmas 2012. That Q1-2 2013 lineup is looking pretty massive!
  10. Given all the events that have happened recently... http://wosland.podgamer.com/the-wainwright-profile/ http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=497024 And the storied history of the mainstream gaming media's journalistic "integrity", you'd be a fool to trust any Halo 4 review (or indeed any review of a major title)
  11. Some bad news... http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/26/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-wont-let-you-play-on-the-wii-u-gamepad-screen/ And some good news! http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/31/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-and-the-hunting-party/ BTW if anyone is wondering, the 3DS version runs at a variable 60FPS (in both 2D and S3D - the 3D has no impact on the framerate)
  12. Ok I got it! This is the best HD Remaster that has been released so far by far. Full 1080p, visuals seem to be perfectly intact, no glitches (the ink effect and the parchment filter look just as they should do) all the 2D elements have been properly re-drawn and not a bit of slowdown. The loading times are also substantially improved over the PS2 original (menu now features no loading lag at all ) Buy this if you want to show others a message about how it should be done (it's especially impressive in the wake of the disappointing Nights and ZOE HD Re-masters!) I haven't tried out the Move controls yet, but I'll update when I get some of the brush powers to try out! Edit: Ok, just gave them a go... The drawing recognition seems to work fine, but there are a couple of problems... Firstly, the Move loses calibration very easily and annoyingly often, making repositioning a pain. Secondly, You lose camera control. Unless you are a master of the Monster Hunter Claw (camera controls are mapped to the D-pad on the DS3 controller), you aren't going to be controlling the camera - and in a game like Okami, where the auto camera controls aren't the best, that's a big problem. Most importantly (and this comes as a surprise from someone who hasn't played Okami Wii), the motion controls don't actually make the game any more fun. That's a real shocker to me! I would've imagined that the extra speed and precision that you get would make combat more enjoyable, but I find that the impact it ultimately has is really very minimal. Give it a go if you have one lying around, but don't buy a Move just for this game (do that for HOTD4 instead, like I did!)
  13. Not a great trailer really. Makes the game look kinda boring. That being said, it at least looks like they've reduced the health of the normal enemies (no more having 20 whip hits to kill a skeleton!), so that's good to see - assuming that it's not just a matter of the way the trailer is cut.
  14. Because despite their ineptitude as a publisher (and their generally poor bug checking/fixing process), they eventually put out fantastic products. Their ports are very good, they pick great games to port and their own Nightsky game is supposedly pretty damn awesome too!
  15. FINALLY! They've been silent for far too long (outside of their re-releases) I just hope that it's a new IP. As great as their output has been, they've been relying on sequels for far too long. I wanna see what craziness they can conjure using the touch, dual screens and 3D of the 3DS! A touch controlled vertical shmup would be freaking awesome! (With 2D graphics and gameplay on the bottom screen and then having depth factoring into the gameplay when the craft goes onto the top screen - ALA Xevious) If not something like my idea, then something that will completely blindside me out of nowhere please!
  16. No reason to believe that it won't come eventually. The mainline series is seemingly safe (DQ10 admittedly is a bit of is question mark - though I reckon that they're waiting for the Wii U version to be finished) and in a worst case scenario, this game already has a full English localisation that they can just re-use. It's the spinoffs that have suspect chances of being brought over (Rocket Slime 3 )
  17. They're both pretty shite. TBH, ZOE2 would've always have been a very challenging port, just due to the way the game was originally made, so it's not fully HVS's fault. PS2 has more memory bandwidth than PS3 and 360, relative to its resolution, meaning that any game that features tons of particle effects and transparencies would suffer heavily on the HD twins (and ZOE2 just so happens to be the worst case scenario for this) Ironically, the Wii U is probably the only console out there that could actually handle ZOE2 in HD, but don't tell Koji Pro that
  18. That's just fucking terrifying! The sheer force of that portfolio combined with everything else they own (Disney, Touchstone, ESPN, Marvel) is just insane! It's like an unstoppable black hole of doom! How long until they buy Paramount?! Pixar and ILM under one roof!? HOLY SHITBALLS! Also, Disney just handed Square Enix an extra 3 million sales for Kingdom Hearts 3!
  19. Well, it's more fantasy than Sci-Fi really and it defined a huge chunk of the clichés that persist today. The original trilogy was series of fantastically written fantasy movies, with wonderfully memorable characters and vivid lore, in Sci-Fi clothing. The Prequel Trilogy was Sci-Fi CGI porn pretending to be Star Wars (and failing miserably) Disney do fantasy very well and I reckon it could lead to a great set of movies with George being as far away from it as possible. I'll be watching them with an open mind and a clear set of expectations. The whole concept of Disney owning the entire Lucasfilm/Lucasarts portfolio just blows my fucking mind though!! (And for a measly $4 billion to boot! Thought that Lucasfilm would be worth way more than that!!!)
  20. Either way it will be clearly distinguished from the original Star Wars so I'm ok with this. More importantly, the series (and Indiana Jones) is finally safe from George's clutches!!! We won! Also Disney have a significant foothold in the Gaming industry once again, now that they own Lucasarts! Proper re-releases of the original Star Wars movies and Lucasarts games!? HELL FUCKING YES!!!
  21. Wow! Leia is now a Disney Princess!!! Didn't see that one coming
  22. It'll almost certainly happen. Ubisoft and Nintendo are butt buddies. They'll give the Wii U ports of anything that can feasibly be put onto the system. Don't hold your breath... So long as the Houser Brothers maintain full control over the mainline series, it'll never hit a Nintendo home console... While we're at that, EA have already made it clear that they'll never give Nintendo any proper support for Wii U (after the Fifa 12.5 and Mass Effect Trilogy/Origin rejection debacles) and Take Two as a wider entity are coy to give Nintendo any real support (so don't expect Bioshock Infinite) On the plus side, Activision are at least throwing their full weight behind the platform; so that's something to be thankful for - while the rest of the smaller western publishers don't seem to have any major beef with Nintendo - so most other titles should rightfully come... Japanese support (outside of Kojima Productions) should be in the bag though :awesome:
  23. OH MY GOD YES!!! I freaking LOVE the coin battle mode in NSMB Wii! (And that's a GODLY use of the Gamepad!). DO WANT!!! There's more info here as well... http://www.gamexplain.com/article-885-1351616454-new-super-mario-bros-u---bulletpoint-preview.html BTW, the more I hear about this game, the more I think that they should've called it New Super Mario World.
  24. Just think how vast that DQ8 landscape would look in 3D...
  25. Gotta get that engine ready for the DQ8 and DQ9 remakes That being said, I still bet on DQ11 going on Wii U (or at least a Wii U/3DS multiplatform game)
