  1. I bought Assassin's creed 3 dlc at 11PM on Friday and when I try to log on to the site it won't let me see my points I payed for it so I should get points Nintendo

It takes some time for it to appear. Should do so within 24 hours (did for my digital copy of Nintendo Land)

It being the weekend might also have some effect...

  2. If our Q1 list looks anything like the US one, I will be buying more retail games in March-April alone than I bought in the entire year of 2012 combined! :o

    That's not too shabby :D

No matter how you slice it, they have a fantastic lineup this year (A GODDAMN NEW PIKMIN AND LUIGI'S MANSION AND A TRUE 3D POKEMON!? HOLY SNAPPLECAKES!!!)

And the best part is, that's just for starters! :)

  3. Indeed they were

They said that they had "no plans to release them commercially", that doesn't mean that will remain the case forever...

That being said, the way that they're treating the VC is simply criminal. They could release 3-4 games a week and still not run out of games to release even 6-7 years from now!

  4. What are the chances of getting a bundle of both versions?

I'm manily only getting the 3DS version for offline play when I'm not at home. the Wii U one will be my main game.

How does the save transfer work though?

Do you actually have to have both consoles on with games in and go through some sort of "save transfer" menu/options each time you want to move data from one to the other.

Or would it work by a form of "streetpass" where if you are playing the Wii U game when it loads up the game searches for a 3DS with a game that has been paired with the Wii U game and sees if either has new data and if so if then "syncs up" the save data between the two?

Or would that be too obvious of a seemless thing for Nintendo to do?

I think that some of the Capcom Unity mods said that they were considering doing a bundle of the two versions on Capcom's own online store...

No idea whether or not they're gonna do it at retail or not though (but either way it's up to Capcom, so who knows!)

  5. Did anyone used to eat the key with Yoshi and then spit it out as the hole was closing? I still found myself doing this, even as an adult. :D

Yup. Still do it all the time :) (was so disappointed that they took it out of the GBA version!)

This was the first game I ever played BTW, back when I was 3 and it's still one of my favourites in the series (though NSMB Wii now holds the number 1 slot for me)

The sights, the sounds and, most importantly, the secrets were absolutely awe inspiring for me as a kid! I can't count the amount of times I've ploughed through this game and still find myself smiling like a moron every time I successfully fly underneath Cheese Bridge :D

I also have my childhood copy of the game signed by the Shigster himself (as if you couldn't tell that it's special to me!) :D

  6. There are certain exclusive features that seperate the 3DS one from the Wii U version including Streetpass Guild Card trading, Streetpass auto-quest completion and loot gathering, local wireless multi and S3D support (no doubt an absolute god send for the underwater fights!); so it's not quite just "enabling" Off TV Play for the Wii U version...

Actually, I'm looking forward to the 3DS version moreso than the Wii U one ;)

  7. I think its quite a big ask to see it have the same effect. There are loads of fitness games now and many people who had wii fit would have moved on to Kinect for there fix.

What makes you think that? Not a single Kinect game other than Kinect Sports has shifted over 1 million copies worldwide and the Kinect can't actually weigh you or keep track of your fitness progress (which is one of Wii Fit's biggest selling points)

Not to mention that the Balance Boards are already out there, so there's no need for an expensive peripheral to be bought if they want the game (just the console)

  8. Exactly the same? Like no advantage of the wii u tech compared to 3ds? I know very little about this game except it's well recieved and you hunt monsters, but I'd have thought the Wii U version should at least be superior if it's on this more powerful console? Nonetheless the online multiplayer is certainly a large bonus from waht I understand?

Yup. The Wii U version is the same as the 3DS game, with the lack of 3D and Streetpass support being replaced with native 1080p rendering (along with slightly better textures) and online play.

It is a port of the 3DS game after all (which itself was an enhanced port from the Wii). Either way, the visuals look great!

  9. Funnily enough, I'm not really all that bothered about replacing my DVDs with Blu-rays. With the jump from VHS to DVD, I couldn't wait to ditch all my cassettes for discs, but not this time around.

I'm only limiting it to a few select movies (like the LOTR Extended Editions and The Dark Knight trilogy) and for all purchases that I've made since early 2007 (when I got my PS3). Just can't be arsed to do it all over again for everything and I don't really care enough for most of my collection (particularly the TV shows, where the original master is poor quality anyway for most shows).

That being said, I do still intend on upgrading my Ghiblies from DVD to Blu-Ray (Ponyo looks ASTOUNDING in HD! :o ), but not till their all out - then I can get em all in one go :)

  10. Having never experienced the original Tri, this is certainly helping me to consider the Wii U. Out of interest, how does the 3DS and Wii U versions compare to the Wii versions, and each other?

The Wii U and 3DS versions are exactly the same with the following differences...

3DS: 3D support, Streetpass Guild Card trading, Streetpass quest completion (players you pass by appear in your game. When you talk to them, you can pay them a fee to automatically complete any quest that they've already beaten in their game for you, netting you all the rewards from it!), local multiplayer.

Wii U: Online multiplayer, native 1080p resolution visuals

The two different versions can also share the same save files and can play locally with each other (you can't do local splitscreen on the Wii U version on its own though, only in conjunction with 3DS systems though).

Compared to the Wii original, there are over twice as many monsters, 2 new areas, roughly 3 times as many quests, 4 new weapons and somewhere between 7-10x the armour pieces and weapons to forge. The graphics have also been upgraded on both versions and there is additional touch screen functionality on both versions as well (the vid below does a good job of showing it off)

You also get two Shakalaka creatures to accompany you in single player as opposed to 1 and there's a new elemental type added too (Slime - Braccydos is the main new monster for this element). Bowguns also work slightly differently.

  11. French 2012 yearly sales for Wii U (and all other consoles) are out now!

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=508889

    Wii U 2012 : 120k

    Wii 2006 : 180k

    3DS 2012 : almost 950k

    ps3 2012 : 700k

    Wii 2012 : 370k

    Xbox360 2012 : 360k

Not bad :) Not as good as the Wii of course, but it's a pretty good result all in all.

France has always been one of Nintendo's best performing EU regions (they're very receptive to Japanese products in general actually)

  12. First Trailer is out! (and it looks like what would happen if NMH's gameplay and Killer 7 art style and darker toned story/atmosphere had a baby :D)

    but...

    ...

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR!?

    noooooooo.jpg

They lied to ussssssssss they didsssssiss!

It looks more straightforward than K7 and NMH did and without the uncomfortable uncertainty and mindfuckery that defined those two games. With that being said though, it does look more interesting than any of Suda's previous "executively directed/produced" games (NMH2, Shadows of the Damned, Lolipop Chainsaw, Diabolical Pitch) IMO!

  13. I just bought TOKYO CRASH MOBS...

    :blank::heh::wtf::grin::woops::hehe::hmm:

    ...It's so bizarre.

Don't worry. That one's definitely on my to-get list!

I'm not a big fan of Puzzloop's gameplay, but the game looks so batshit insane that I don't think I can resist getting it for laughs

  14. Ive never played a MH game but im really looking forward to getting this.

You couldn't have picked a better one to start off with. Tri does a great job of easing newcomers in and of course, this is a (greatly) expanded version of that same game, so it should ease you in nice and gently.

All I really need to tell you is that the game is hard and rewards patience. You won't go straight into it blasting away all the monsters you see. It takes a long time to build yourself up and a long time to hunt each monster, but you really do get out of it what you put in!

  15. If you use HDMI, you can't use the AV port to carry sound. No way around it.

The Component cable should be capable of carrying 1080p just fine, but you won't get any surround sound. The absolute only way to get 5.1 sound from the Wii U is to hook it directly to your Reciever via HDMI (using 5.1 PCM. Dolby Digital or DTS is not supported and no, an optical splitter won't work either)

The first thing you'll do is set up the video and sound settings, then you'll set up your TV remote control with the Gamepad, then you're Internet connection, then you'll create your Nintendo ID, then you'll do a system update (other options to set up are optional).

After that you'll be plonked into the Wii U menu to go about your business (though certain games will have updates of their own to download automatically when you go to start them)

As for the Wii transfer, the only thing to really be concerned about is that you can't use GCN controllers on the Wii U, so any game that allows for GCN controller use will lose support for it (most notably, VC games, SSBB and Bomberman Blast - the latter of which will lose 8 player support with the lack of GCN controller support for the other 4 players). Otherwise, there's no reason to keep the Wii around (unless you want to use it to play GCN games!)

Nintendo Land is fuck awesome and so is the Internet Browser (the latter of which has pretty much completely replaced my iPad and iPhone as my "go-to" handheld browser at home :D )

Like Letterbox, Miiverse is also hilariously addictive. Already spent many hours chatting away on there and marvelling at the amazing pictures people draw!

Otherwise, kick back and just enjoy it! :D Discover all the neat little touches and awesome menu music on you're own :)

  16. Just got Aeroporter. This game is nuts! It's an action puzzler that becomes overwhelmingly difficult very quickly (good God it becomes a complete mind fuck after just a couple of minutes. Good luck getting a tetra combo!)

    Love it! :D
