  1. The only shit thing about this port is I'm betting it will be lazy and that CAPCOM won't bother doing Wii Remote controls so we won't be getting cool RE4 style pointer aiming, but instead shitty dual analog aiming as a standard. I hope I'm wrong!

It should have gyro controls for aiming though... They were pretty damn awesome in the 3DS version!

  2. OH MY GOD, THEY DID IT AGAIN! :o

An interview with the composer of Nintendo Land... (Ryo Nagamatsu)

    On DK's Crash Course...

The melody in the music for Stages 2 and 4 is simply the reverse (from the end) of the melody in Stages 1 and 3. I wonder if anybody has noticed."

You brilliant bastard! Can't believe that I never noticed that!

  3. Yeah, and I'll get a little bit more playtime out of it. Have started a second playthrough on Hard difficulty, so that's at least another 35 mins. :hehe:

And perhaps there's an unlockable for finishing it on Hard? ::shrug:

There are quite a few unlockables...

Nice little game BTW. Made by just one man too! Scratches that Mega Man itch quite nicely :)

  4. Wii U Music meets this criteria!

Honestly, I'd love to see that happen. Wii Music is one of my favourite Wii games and has a lot of potential in a sequel!

Why does this ND have to happen while I'm working!? I'll have to wait for the whole day to end before I can watch it and find out what's going on!

  5. Confirmed, the Nintendo Direct is FIRST PARTY ONLY

That doesn't mean that they'll only "be talking about what kind of Wii U titles and services Nintendo is developing". They could talk about 3rd party titles in addition to stuff from Nintendo...

That comment about this including "services Nintendo is developing" makes me think of the Virtual Console. Could we finally see details (and a possible release!?) of the Wii U VC service? (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! MY GAMEPAD IS CRYING FOR DKC, SUPER METROID AND WIND WAKER TO BE PLAYED ON IT!!!)

  6. The control scheme will most likely be exactly the same as the PSP games if you don't use the additional circle pad I imagine.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen a single person here who plays Tri 3G in the common room at my University with the additional circle pad. They just all play by the default controls, then again, I'm guessing they're PSP veterans.

    12.jpg

That (size and shape adjustable) d-pad on the right hand side of the touchscreen is the reason why ;)

You don't need to claw on the 3DS, even without the CPP.

  7. It sounds good in theory and Sony did purchase Gaikai, but do the UK and the US have reliable enough broadband services/connections to be able to rely all that heavily on internet streaming though do they? It's a different situation in Japan of course.

Not really, but that's why they'd offer two different models ;)

At least that way they can advertise the fact that it plays your old PS3 games...

  8. What the Dreamcast, Vita and Wii U show is that the masses just aren't keen on gaming enough to be excited by new hardware for its own sake. I don't want to be too snobby though, because I think Orbis and Durango will both be very powerful and it will be more obvious what you're getting for your money (than the Wii U).

Well if the (freshly leaked!) Durango specs are anything to go by... one of those two consoles will be very powerful (if still decidedly mid-range on the PC scale) at least...

  9. Nintendo have a parent on their D-pad design

Had a patent you mean. It has expired now, which is why Sony stole the internal design for the Vita's D-pad ;) (It's also the reason why it's much better than any previous PS D-pad too!)

BTW, seems like the full specs have leaked!

As we promised during the weekend in the next weeks we will unveil Durango and Orbis. All the technical info you want to know about the next generation machines from Sony and Microsoft.

The first one is Durango. In this article we present the system overview with the general components and some technical details about them.

    How are durango components connected?

Here you can see the Durango system block diagram:

    Durango Arquitecture

Let’s check what’s inside the box:

    CPU:

    - x64 Architecture

    - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz)

    - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache

    - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache

    - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources

    - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock

    GPU:

    - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor

    - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads

    - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle

    - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second

High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present

    Storage and Memory:

    - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s)

    - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s)

    - from the GPU’s perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec.

    - Hard drive is always present

    - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive

    Networking:

    - Gigabit Ethernet

    - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct

    Hardware Accelerators:

    - Move engines

    - Image, video, and audio codecs

    - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware

    - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing

    durango_arq1.jpg

The specs seem surprisingly modest actually! Doesn't seem that far ahead of the Wii U really... (and quite a bit behind the PS4 in terms of GPU grunt - though they seem to share the exact same CPU)

It's actually quite refreshing to see a non-Nintendo console manufacturer not go overboard with the hardware spec! Including a Kinect 2.0 and a hard drive in every model (as is suggested by these specs) no doubt have eaten into the console's silicon budget...

The gap between the PS4 and 720 should make ports very interesting.

It having a WiFi direct chip is also very nice. It means that it'll be able to connect to wireless devices locally while also being able to stay connected to the Internet over WiFi at the same time (Wii U has a WiFi Direct chip as well BTW)

Also a HDMI in!? I smell DVR functionality! (As I had foreseen many moons ago :p)

  10. This week haul (and it's a good one!)

    Wii

    - Babel Rising (500 Wii Points)

    PICROSS!!! :yay::heart:

Any idea what this NSB update does?

  11. Get it. You won't regret it. They just don't make videogames like that one anymore.

From what I remember, you get told nothing in the game. you don't get told to go here, you don't get told to collect this from there. You don't get told what this weapon does. But, nevertheless, you find out yourself. It's the complete opposite of spoon-feeding. You learn how to crawl, walk, sprint and then fly yourself, completely unaided.

I wish we could get another game like it. I'd pay double the price for one on the 3DS right now, without a second's thought.

I know it's not Metroid, but Paper Mario Sticker Star is very similar to Super Metroid in that it is completely bereft of handholding and hints...
