Game Freak have released an official statement on the leaks, confirming it as an unauthorised server breach, and that it does indeed include a number details of past and present employees.

No two ways about it, that really sucks.

Like I said before, I'm really, really curious to see how the gaming media handle this considering that it was the inclusion of personal data in the Insomniac leak which had them avoid sharing details (even those pertaining to the actual games, which I still found cool as solidarity, but really weird in terms of, ya know, game coverage, or rather the lack thereof).

Some more really interesting stuff has turned up, like opinions and concerns on the future of the franchise beyond Gen III, notes from Diamond & Pearl meetings, a transcript of the meeting where they decided Ash's journey had to come to an end, stuff on Pokémon Movie 24 (which might be in development hell?), and a Great Detective Pikachu and 'GameBoy' movie to round out the Detective Pikachu trilogy. Again, just really interesting stuff.

Also, Deoxys was a starfish with a single eye. So it was basically Starro?

You know how it's going to be handled...

All that posturing about the Insomniac Leak was just that, posturing.  Gotta protect their friends in Sony and keep brown-nosing to get their jobs for the boys after all... Of course, when it comes to Nintendo/Game Freak? Nobody gives a shit about their precious "solidarity" anymore.

Nobody should be upset about the reporting of these leaks though.  It is literally their job to report on news-worthy info!  As long as they're not posting personal information about specific employees, anything else is fair game.

From looking at that page with all the codenames on, the only link I could come up with, is that if you convert "Ounce" to Grams in terms of weight measurement, it's just over 28g, in that list of projects there are 26 previous codenames, counting everything.

Did Nintendo Alarmo have a codename? If it did, it's not in that list, which would mean that there should be 27, which would make the Ounce the 28th in the list. ::shrug:

That's all I've got... unless it has something to do with weight, and I can't see the console weighing just over 28 Grams... maybe it has something to do with the controllers or the physical media?

Alarmo's codename is almost certainly "Clock", as the product code is CLO-001.

Edit: I doubt that the numbering would line up that nicely... There's lots of other Nintendo hardware products left unaccounted for in this list, such as the many variants of the Game & Watch (including the more modern ones; such as the Club Nintendo G&W Ball from 2010 (HGW-001), the SMB G&W (HXA-001) & the Zelda G&W HXB-001), and the Game Boy Micro (Oxy-001 - probably codename "Oxygen").

  3. So... as confirmed by the Freak Leak, it looks like Switch 2's codename is indeed "Ounce".

Far from the most elaborate or catchy codename ever in Nintendo's history, I have to say.  But here's a list of the codenames for their previous consoles for reference.

That being said, the console's product code will most likely be OUN-001, so if anything gets leaked with that product code (or a very similar varient), it's likely related to our mystery console.

  4. With Jamboree coming out next week, I figured it was time to fill out my tierlist of the Mario Party Superstars Sticker List (given that the stickers will be making a return in Jamboree)...

It's not only tiered, but ordered too! Nobody likes You Got This

Will be interesting to see how the Sticker Metagame changes with Jamboree... We already know that current reigning champion Betrayal! has been hit hard with the nerf hammer...

Even with the Bayonetta-Smash-4-To-Ultimate style nerf... it's still Betrayal! at the end of the day though

There's a LOT of new characters... so the metagame could change pretty substantially... Ninji alone brings about a lot of new potential! :hehe:

I see weird Nintendo is suddenly back for some reason. :hehe:

Had they not ludicrously overpriced this I may have got one for the novelty value (and the potential to perhaps customise it... Baby Face alarm? :heh:) but as it stands, no way!
Would love to know what the actual cost to produce these things is, feels like Nintendo will be making a repugnant amount of profit at that price though. :o

Oh shoot! If they do a Wario Ware theme… that’s not impossible!

If they have a Wario Ware/Baby Face theme? I’m buying one immediately

  6. Pretty much the list of games I expected, though it ended up having the NES and GB versions of more BPS Tetris titles instead of some of the more obscure BPS Tetris games.

Shame that the original Electronika 60 version of Tetris is only a recreation and not the actual original ROM being emulated, but it’s nice to see a recreation anyway.

Tetris Time Warp sounds cool.  Quite similar to what Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary did with its own respective series :hehe:

Perhaps they're testing the SNES mouse features (support for it was added to the NSO emulator code recently), and perhaps some sharing feature for Mario Paint?

Maybe.  Though they did say that the user would have to download a specific piece of software, so unless it’s going to be a specific separate SNES app? It won’t be an update to the existing one.

Also, why would Nintendo need to make a grand 7 month long testing period for such a feature?  Only reason I could think of would be that it’s something that they need to gather some long-term data from.

  8. Seems like a decent little 3D platformer.  That splitscreen co-op feature is very impressive considering the hardware it's running on.

I wonder how the PS1 version compares to the N64 version; given that free-roaming 3D platfomers are pretty rare on the PS1 (though given that it's a Eurocom game, I'd assume that the PS1 was the lead platform in this case).

I hope that is indeed the case. The yearly stats you get are nice but they pale in comparison to what we used to have on Nintendo's previous systems.

Totally agreed.  Also feels like the kind of thing that Nintendo would lock off as a NSO sub exclusive thing these days.

  10. Feels a bit late in the game to be adding major new features, so this has to be something significant that's being carried over to Switch 2.

Maybe it really is the return of the Activity Log? Would explain the lengthy test period, and why it made a sudden comeback with Alarmo of all things.
