  1. 3DS Console Discussion

The firmware update that comes with SM3DL is NOT the November update (it only includes the friend invite/game joining system, not the video recording or the revamped eShop or anything else)
  2. 3DS eShop Thread

I've got it. It's a decent Solomon's Key clone with some decent levels. It's a bit amateurish in terms of visuals/production values but it's fun. Worth £3.60 for sure, if you like puzzle platformers.
  3. The Wii is Dead... what are you playing on it?

It's not dead yet. We still have Zelda Skyward Sword, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Rhythm Heaven, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Fortune Street, Mario Party 9, Family Fishing and (hopefully), Rodea the Sky Soldier to look forward to! (I suppose that there's also Pokepark 2 as well if you're a nut for anything Pokemon!) It's amazing to think that just a few months back (back in March/April) all we had to look forward to was Skyward Sword and in the span of just a few months, we've gotten another 10 great games added to that list (the above plus Wii Play Motion and Xenoblade) Not a bad sendoff I say, far better than what the GCN got in it's final year! As for me recently, I've been playing Xenoblade. Lots and lots of Xenoblade! (Wii Play Motion is good fun as well, but Xenoblade is getting the lion's share of my playtime at the mo!)

Simple. Investors/shareholders care only about short term gains, while the CEO of a company (should at least!) care about the mid/longterm. It's a classic conflict of interest and it's not a phenomenon that is unique to Nintendo. Almost every public company is subject to it (that's one of the first things I learnt as part of my degree - Business & Marketing in case you're wondering!) The shareholders want Nintendo to jump on the latest trend/fad because it would mean a quick short term gain that makes them money personally. Iwata is thankfully smart (and confident) enough to put the company's long term health over the demands of their shareholders. One company that actually serves as the opposite to this rule is Activision, where short term gains are all that matter to them (see Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk and soon to be Call of Duty), at the expense of the company's long term health. Kotick probably plans on jumping ship as soon as the COD and WOW cash cows are good and dead (with Activision collapsing into a pile of dust)
  5. Monster Hunter 4!!!!

It's a concept trailer, it's specifically designed to represent the type of gameplay that they're going for with the new game. Oh and all of the footage is clearly in game, so it's not like the 3DS hardware can't handle what has been shown here. Of course the design of the game could change before it actually comes out. This happens very often with pre-release games (See RE5 or Dragon Quest 9 for good examples of this happening)
  6. Resident Evil Revelations 3DS

Hey, hey, hey, new gameplay trailer here Looks like you can charge up your melee attacks (ALA Super Smash Bros) One step closer to having Chris pull a Falcon Punch!
  7. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy

http://www.youtube.com/user/NintendoWorldReport#p/u/5/F2UXXhrFXP0 After seeing this video at Nintendo's conference, I think it's safe to say that this game is looking to be a winner! Gameplay looks fun and it certainly looks hard enough to be interesting. This should scratch that Ouendan/EBA itch quite nicely I just hope that we get some rearranged music as well and not just the original music from the FF series.
  8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Streetpass stuff sounds awesome. About time that they're doing something new! (AC Wii was such a huge disappointment) Still, it's not enough on its own. I need to know more about what being the mayor actually entails in terms of gameplay.
  9. Super Mario 3D Land

Those 3D puzzle rooms are crazy! And they show how 3D can offer new types of platforming gameplay perfectly too! (No way could you play through those stages in 2D) This trailer is so much better than the E3 one that it isn't even funny. Now the game is looking utterly fantastic!
  10. Mario Kart 7

OH MY GOD!!! I never thought I'd see the day when the N64 style Blue Shell would make a return! YES!!! Fuck the winged blue shell! Let the Blue Shell leave no prisoners in it's path of destruction!!! BTW, did you guys catch the new items? Fire Flower, Raccoon Leaf and the Number "7" (WTF?!)
  11. Mario Tennis Open

Confirmed! Camelot are making this one! http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/conference2011/titlelist/mario_tennis/index.html DAY 0 DO WANT!!!
  12. 3DS Console Discussion

So much for that redesign coming any time soon. I don't think we'll be hearing about it until March 2012 at the very earliest.
  13. Monster Hunter 4!!!!

My God! That trailer looks absolutely nuts! (In the most awesome way possible!) Looks much more free form in terms of gameplay. You have an emphasis on platforming, climbing (SOTC style!), large scale (and highly interactive) environments where monsters seemingly hunt you down continuously (no more zones?!) Seems to be quite a big shift in terms of gameplay! I can't wait myself! Seems to be the biggest leap forward for the series since MH1! Never did I expect to see MH4 at this conference, but dayhm! It has surpassed my expectations in every way! Maybe a bit like Kirby and the Amazing Mirror in that you can go your separate ways and venture off in totally different directions if you want to (and you might have some sort of ability to call all of your buddies and have them warp to you somehow) Doing those kinds of interactive and destructible environments online though is going to be very tough no doubt (so maybe they'll stick with local multi only?)
  14. Starfox 64 3D

OMG! They actually voiced the Raccoon in the training mode. And his voice is AWESOME!!! YES!
  15. Monster Hunter 3G

That's how I feel as well. They could've just had camera buttons on the touchscreen ALA Super Mario 64 DS. Mind you though, Nintendo were probably planning on doing this anyway. They did mention how they wanted Kid Icarus Uprising to have support for left handed play (now we know how they're going to do it!), so it makes perfect sense for Capcom to take advantage of it I guess. The game itself looks fantastic. Graphics are a clear upgrade from the Wii version (proper shadows FTW!) and all the extra stuff (12 weapons?!) sounds awesome. Just need online play to be confirmed and I'm in (despite the downer about the slide pad expansion) Also, has anyone noticed how there's no HUD on the top screen? It looks like they're moving the map, inventory and all that HUD stuff to the bottom screen!
  16. 3DS Console Discussion

Where do they come from? What source?
  17. Oh dear. Just read a translation on GAF from the Japanese Dragon Quest website that states that there is no offline single player mode. You HAVE to play online! Not happy, not happy at all
  18. PlayStation Vita Console Discussion

No you're not. It's looking pretty fantastic so far, much more interesting than the PSP ever was to me! Mind you though, half of the stuff we've seen probably won't be coming out until around 9-12 months after launch so I wouldn't hold too much stock in the lineup just yet.
  19. Ok, now I'm completely confused.
  20. Yes but they wouldn't have had to suffer the effects of that campaign if NOE hadn't leaked that info. Anyway, I'm glad to see that EU IS getting London Life after all. I still think that "mistake" in the press release was done on purpose though (no way could they have made put such an inflammatory message there by accident - they knew what they were doing there)
  21. For the damage done to NOA's public relations image by NOE leaking the details about the release of The Last Story & Pandora's Tower and the revealing of how NOA have no intention to localise Xenoblade (This leak was the spark that lead to the Operation Rainfall campaign) From this happening right after NOA mentioned how they wanted to capture the "core" gamer with the Wii U, Op Rainfall did a lot of damage to their public image as it directly contradicts what they said they wanted to do.
  22. Wow! WTF?! The fact that they take the effort to point it out as a "North American Exclusive" would almost certainly mean that the EU version doesn't have London Life period (why else take the effort to point it out?) I can't believe that they've taken such a direct potshot at NOE here. This is no doubt revenge for the Xenoblade/Operation Rainfall debacle. Me thinks that there's some animosity between NOE and NOA! (Oh how I'd love to be a fly on the wall at both branches right now!)
  23. 3DS Console Discussion

Yeah, the video recording update has been 100% confirmed. It's coming, but we don't know when.
  24. Xenoblade Chronicles Official Thread

Been playing for a bit now (about 4.5-5 hours). It's the best "serious" RPG (I.e non Mario or "silly" RPG) I've played since Skies of Arcadia for sure. The pacing is perfect, the combat is revolutionary and the world is so vast and lovingly crafted (everything is there for a reason) that it puts all other RPGs to shame. Bosses that walk the plains as hidden battles, trillions of items and weapons, tons of quests that invest you in the game world (and most NPCs have their own relationships and backstory!) and some of the best music to ever grace a video game. It's pretty much the RPG I've been waiting for. Special shoutout to the awesome English localisation as well. I can't believe Nintendo's UK localisation team pulled it off (I usually hate their works), but it is really genuinely fantastic. A great script that's full of life and little touches, with a dub that is nigh on perfect. If the quality keeps up as it has done so far, it could be the best RPG since Chrono Trigger for me! And what a treat it is to see it hit No 3 in the UK charts! The ultimate middle finger to NOA! (WHATA BUNCH O' JOHKAS!)
  25. 3DS eShop Thread

You forgot Four Swords in September and Cave Story DSi in Q4.
