  1. There is one game that is seemingly running in 1080p... Ninja Gaiden 3 (screenshots were released in 1080p with no AA) That matches up with what we know about how the Wii U's frame buffer setup works. With the 32MB of eDram in place, devs have the choice of either 720p with 4x AA for "free" or 1080p rendering with no AA. Seems that Team Ninja are the only ones who have chosen to go with 1080p for some reason, but it does prove that it's capable of running PS360 games in 1080p (and that was one that ran in sub HD on those two consoles)
  2. Miyamoto Speaks About Zelda Wii U

I like how most people across the internet are taking the term "evolve" to mean "remove" (especially when Aonuma has already said that they want to continue with Skyward Sword style controls on the Wii U) (looks at Nintendoland's Zelda game) Yep, the haters' bitter tears are going to be delicious
  3. Pikmin 3

Oooor like that moment in Zelda Minish Cap when you scale Mt Crenel... Oh BTW, I found an image of the Wiimote/Nunchuck controls There's a lockon mechanic now!? and a dodge move!? Why do no videos, not even the E3 conference demo, show this!? (in fact, they don't even show the Nunchuck shaking charge move either!) Also, why does this control diagram not show you how you switch characters? Edit: Oh wait I forgot, the E3 demo doesn't feature the multiple characters does it?
  4. 3DS Console Discussion

Yeah that's quite true... in Japan that is! In the rest of the world, I'd say that the 3DS' lineup is far from perfect and it's future is definitely not set in stone like it is in the east. For starters, it's waaaaayyyyy too reliant on Mario. Look at Nintendo's upcoming release list; the only games scheduled for this year from them are all based on the Mario series (Paper Mario SS, Luigi's Mansion DM and NSMB2 - unless you count Pokemon Black & White 2, which is actually a DS game...) I suppose there's also Fire Emblem Awakening, but there's a good chance that this has been moved to 2013 - at least in the US. Right now, Nintendo is running the risk of both pidgeonholing the 3DS as "The Mario Machine" and instigating franchise fatigue. A two way death punch. 3rd party support for the 3DS is also pretty limp, especially in comparison to Japan. We've got Heroes of Ruin next week then TheatRhythm, KHDDD, Castlevania MoF, Epic Mickey Power of Illusion and Scribblenauts Unlimited (the latter of which is also coming to Wii U, which is no doubt the lead version and will get the majority of the marketing focus) The rest of the lineup is either worthless shovelware, or niche stuff (like Code of Princess) that wont really matter to the console's overall success. I wouldn't call that a healthy lineup at all!
  5. Castlevania: Mirror of Fate

Well, the shift towards a Metroid style of play (with SOTN) was in of itself a complete abandonment of the classic style of play. This is simply the 3rd era of Castlevania. I have no real issue with it going in a new direction (and indeed it is still retaining elements from both Metroidvania and classic NES/SNES era Castlevania)
  6. Why the hell was this not shown in the conference!? Has anybody heard anything about the status of this game? We're due a localisation announcement (going by the usual ongoing pattern of one new Layton game per year) and it usually gets announced at E3, so where has it gone!?
  7. Miiverse Messaging Could Take 30 Minutes

If this delay is only for public communication and messages to your friends is instant, then that's fine. If it's not... Oh dear...
  8. Luigi's Mansion 2

Nice to see that the framerate issues have been fixed. The difference is really night and day! I guess unlocking the 2nd core did the trick!
  9. Fire Emblem Awakening

They've done them all except for Shadow Dragon (which was done by 8-4) I was worried that NOE might be handling it themselves, since they're not as good as NOA's localisers (See Advance Wars Days of Ruin US VS Dark Conflict EU)
  10. Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Well well, this is all mightily interesting so far! Ditching the experience point system entirely is a very interesting and risky move here. I appreciate that it allows them to scatter these powerups and things throughout the world and opens up a new means of sidequests (not unlike Zelda), but I do hope that it doesn't mean that the battles become boring as a result. I suppose it's not even apt to call it an RPG at all anymore if it lacks the elements that make up an RPG! I guess it's an action adventure game now! (Though I bet you get stickers from battling enemies) I wonder if you still have the badges as well? (being permanent additions to your abilities and arsenal, while the stickers are temporary battle commands) Either way, the dialogue is still clearly first class NOA Treehouse stuff (LMAO @ that Toad's dialogue )
  11. GamePad Battery Life.

No excuse here. 3DS was limited by its chassis size, but the Wii U controller is massive and has no real internal guts to speak of. I can understand them looking to cut costs to keep the price of the thing down, but this is a cut too far. The battery life is simply poor.
  12. So where's Layton then? It should be coming out by the end of this year (as per the usual schedule of releases)
  13. Castlevania: Mirror of Fate

Well, based on the Software Showcase unveil, it seems that my fears may have been allayed There seems to be a good amount of exploration and platforming in place. Also, this vid confirms multiple difficulty levels and some sort of Spotpass online functionality Overall, I reckon it's looking good so far. Looking forward to it
  14. I was so fucking pissed when I saw the Sing logo. I was totally expecting Wii Music U (the first one is probably the most underrated game on Wii) Complete troll
  15. Fire Emblem Awakening

Jesus fucking Christ WHY THE HELL WAS THIS NOT IN THE FUCKING CONFERENCE!? And for extra goodness, courtesy of GAF YYYYYEEESSSS!!!!! Nobody does localisations like Treehouse (sorry NOE, your English localisation work is getting better but you still don't hold a candle to Treehouse) I would've been ok if 8-4 was handling it (Like Shadow Dragon), but this is just the icing on the already delicious cake! Good God, this whole E3 event has been a complete mess
  16. New Super Mario Bros 2

Maybe you all need to work together online to collect enough coins to save the Mushroom Kingdom from economic crisis! Having Peach getting kidnapped all the time is probably what caused the value of Mushroom Kingdom coins to plummet against the Beanbean coin!
  17. New Super Mario Bros 2

Box art released (and something interesting in it too!) Nintendo Network eh? What's that all about then?
  18. Rayman Legends

Much more interested now that this is an exclusive (why the hell was this exclusivity announced AFTER the damn conference!?) Now it can actually integrate the tablet gameplay into the core of the game and level design (which it seems to be doing!)
  19. You and me both buddy. I need something other than Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to play on the damn thing!
  20. Nintendo Conference (5.00pm - 5th June)

The first time I've agreed with a Eurogamer article regarding anything Nintendo in a long time. It's spot on. They had stuff to show, but it was buried underneath clumsy delivery. The 3rd party showing was pathetic and utterly uninteresting (Except for Rayman Legends, which was only announced as a Wii U exclusive AFTER the conference!) and games/announcements that should've been there were entirely absent (Retro's game, VC/Wiiware transfer details, ANYTHING to do with the eShop and online play etc) The show was poorly planned, overly indulgent in terms of game design detail and lacked clarity. A complete missed opportunity.
  21. Nintendo Land

Every game included in Nintendo Land is based off an EAD/R&D1 made franchise, so there's a reason why Pokemon would be absent and Balloon Fight gets 1st class treatment.
  22. The release of the remaining upcoming titles and one more price drop, followed by complete abandonment.
  23. I'm still waiting for FF8 PS2 and FF7 PS3...
  24. The Wonderful 101

This looks fun as hell. There's some Four Swords Adventure elements too (with houses that you go into where the action shifts to the tablets and other players can't see ) Still, I do have to ask why the visuals are so poor. Coming from Platinum, I'd expect a much better looking game
  25. Pikmin 3

Interesting. Seems that the Wii U Pad controls actually use the Wii U Pad's IR pointer! http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/impressions/30530 Good to see that they're not betraying the original design of the game by changing it to accommodate the Wii U Pad, but isn't it using the Wiimote motionplus for the cursor (ALA Skyward Sword) rather than the IR pointer?
