  1. General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

If that's the case, then I expect to see February's NPD numbers sitting around 65-80K. It is extreme, but not implausible when you consider that this was the successor to the fastest selling console of all time - a console that was sold out for 2 years in the US and made these people a fortune on eBay. Not hard to believe that a sizeable number of them might've been itching for round 2...
  2. General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

I never even knew that NPD counted returns, let alone put them against monthly sales! That makes a lot of sense. 57K is just such an absurdly low figure that I had a hard time believing it back when those last NPD figures were released (and it's not hard to believe that such a large number of scalpers might buy them enmass, in light of what happened with its predecessor). 100Kish is still a very poor result, don't get me wrong, but it's a damn sight more plausible than the meteoritic drop that those NPD figures suggested! It bodes much better for February and March's sales in that case, at least in the US.
  3. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

So I just finished it... Now after the dust has settled... I wouldn't say it matches Bayonetta after all. It's still amazing no doubt, but it doesn't have the mechanical depth to match Bayonnetta, nor the breadth of enemy types and environmental mechanics and such. I suppose that is in part due to its brevity (I finished it on Normal mode in 4:22) that there isn't enough time to pack in as much variety as seen in Bayonetta, but what is there is Pure Platinum quality The short length of the game is also quite refreshing really. You could realisically blast through the whole thing in one sitting and just enjoy the whole ride. I can see it making the game that much more replayable for me I do get the feeling that quite a bit was cut from the game, as it does seem to end a bit abruptly, but it was an amazing ride that I will be sure to come back to time and time again Edit: OH MY GOD I JUST TRIED OUT REVENGEANCE DIFFICULTY!! Wow... Just wow... I don't think I'm ready for a New Game run of that mode lol!
  4. The perfect platform for the game.
  5. It's scummy, but it's the only realistic way of securing any sort of exclusive content when it comes to major titles these days. In a multiplatform world, real exclusives basically don't exist anymore. You can't get games like GTA or Devil May Cry as exclusives anymore, because the cost of development is just too high - but netting exclusive content is perfectly plausible. It helps subsidise development across both platforms and is usually made from cutting out content from what would normally be in the main game. It's a win for both parties in this case at very little cost to the developer. It sucks, but the publishers don't give a fuck about us - so long as it doesn't stop Joe Dudebro from buying their game, they don't care.
  6. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Holy cow! I was typing this exact post word for word Now THIS is how you support a game! Now if they'd just add native online play support for the 3DS version...
  7. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

Poor guy. He needs to take a break. Fuck the game if it means sacrificing the use of his right arm Nintendo would be moronic to force him to carry on working in ill health. His wellbeing is worth far more to them than a simple short-term gain.
  8. Deus Ex: Human Defiance (Movie)

NOW suddenly a Wii U port makes sense
  9. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Finally got the game! Played for a bit... Wow... Just wow! Platinum Games once again cements themselves as the undisputed kings of action games! Such beautiful flavour to take the bad taste of the likes of DmC and NG3 out of my mouth I'd say that it's around as good as Bayonetta so far (and that's saying something!)
  10. 3DS Console Discussion

It's nice to see some new colours for the original 3DS, but man are they both ugly choices!
  11. 3DS eShop Thread

Soo... To anyone here with a JPN 3DS... Do you know if Nintendo bothered to include any sort of link cable emulation for the two Zelda Oracles games, or did they just stick with the passwords? Iwata's mention of "linked play" in the JPN ND gave me hope, but I don't expect it... Edit: WOOHOO!!! Nano Assault EX finally has an EU release date! https://mobile.twitter.com/ShinenGames/status/306679367164104704 March 7th! Next week!
  12. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

Just to add more fuel to the pre-owned fire... http://www.computerandvideogames.com/393264/sony-exec-ps4-will-have-the-strongest-launch-line-up-weve-ever-had/ The fact that they're still avoiding answering the question can only mean one of two things... Either they're gonna charge a re-activation fee for pre-owned games (meaning that you can play used games on a PS4, but you have to pay a fee to the publisher for the privilege), or they're simply waiting for Microsoft to announce their plans first and will base their decision what MS decide to do.
  13. Castlevania: Mirror of Fate

Of course it is. I never expected (or even wanted!) it to be that long All I really want to know is whether or not it is able to keep things feeling fresh all the way throughout. I reckon that it's a good game, but I get a slight nagging feeling that it'll run out of new ideas/concepts/mechanics well before the game reaches its end...
  14. Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

And so the excruciating wait for an EU release begins...
  15. How Often Do You Revisit Old Games?

Very often, though when it comes to repeat playthroughs of long single player games like the Zeldas or most RPGs, I always wait at least a year before playing them again. Pick up and play games like Super Mario Kart, Mario Party and Panel de Pon or short N' sweet games like the SMB games, the MD Sonics and the DKC SNES trilogy get played all the time though
  16. 3DS Console Discussion

Haven't noticed any on the inside or outside
  17. Mighty Switch Force 2

Bit disappointed that they're doing a straight sequel to MSF, rather than doing a new "Mighty" game with the same puzzle style gameplay. That being said, MSF is good stuff so I'm looking forward to the sequel
  18. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Switchaxe>>Sword N' Shield>>Hammer>>Great Sword>Longsword>>Lance>>>>Bowgun. At least that's my order of preference in the original Tri. That being said, I love using the Dual Swords and the Hunting horn in MHFU, so I'm really looking forward to trying them out in MH3U!
  19. 3DS Console Discussion

Exactly the same here. I was holding out till the next ND in hope that we'd get either the purple or the limited edition FEA 3DS. Walked away disappointed, so I went for the Ice White one, which was my backup choice. Glad I did, the white one is simply gorgeous
  20. 3DS Console Discussion

So I replaced my 2 year old Cosmo Black 3DS (it was a bit beaten up and worn out, so I wanted a new one) with a new Ice White 3DS the other day... To my surprise, it seems that Nintendo have improved the colour gamut and saturation of the original 3DS model's screen! The colours are noticeably richer than on my old console! While I don't have my old 3DS anymore to make a picture comparison, I compared it to some screenshots of 3DS games on my iPhone 4S and the difference is indeed noticeable. The new white 3DS compares much more favourably than my old black one did! That was a very nice surprise!
  21. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS

I've had quite a few glitches on the Wii U version. Driving through walls into blank space, cars turning invisible, cars spawning inside objects, loud static sound glitches... Yup, it's a SEGA game alright A shame really, since the game itself is actually very good. Been a long time since we last had a decent kart racer that isn't called Mario Kart.
  22. Rayman Legends

Seems that Michel Ancel may be looking to leave Ubisoft... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=515226 This wouldnt be the first time he's been prepared to leave. He supposedly was about to leave when Beyond Good and Evil 2 was cancelled and only decided to stay when Ubisoft gave him his own team to make Rayman Origins... Ohhhhh Nintendoooooo... You have a French R&D team who could use some staffing...
  23. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

The fact that it took Nintendo so long to allow people to properly use the SD card slot that came installed as standard with the damn system was criminal!
  24. He obviously regulars Bulbapedia instead
