  1. Dragon's Dogma 2

Scummy practice, but also something that Capcom have been doing for a long time now. Almost all of their games have had some sort of "time saver" microtransaction scam going on for more or less a decade now. This is just the next step in what they've been doing for a while now, and yes, it is as egrigious as it is desperate.
  2. I imagine that it probably got cut because it's too similar to what they've already done before in games like Super Paper Mario and TTYD. Also, that's not the first time Nintendo have spoken about the concept of "Mottanai" before... Either way, looking forward to when the full GDC talk for this game and TOTK go up on the GDC Vault eventually
  3. Looks like Velan Studios are the next to be hit. Real shame. Hopefully they've got another contract lined up with Nintendo.
  4. Princess Peach Showtime (March 22 2024)

Here's a little factoid that should get a smile (or at least an Ehh EHH!) out of @RedShell
  5. Dragon's Dogma 2

https://www.gamesradar.com/determined-to-improve-dragons-dogma-2-performance-by-any-means-necessary-framerate-fiends-plot-murder-spree-of-rpgs-inconsequential-and-cpu-hungry-npcs/ Ok, that’s pretty funny. Gives a whole new meaning to the word “optimisation”
  6. N-E Mario Kart 8 DX Get Together

Heads up, Glen-i can’t make it this week, so @BowserBasher will have to host tonight.
  7. Princess Peach Showtime (March 22 2024)

    So… it’s a Good Feel game then?
  8. Dragon's Dogma 2

Looks like you have another reason to wait for a sale @Hero-of-Time… game’s coming in hot with severe graphical & performance issues on all platforms… As always… … I am right
  9. I suppose if SEGA were looking for a developer with experience making a 3D Belt Scroller beat em’ up specifically, their choices are pretty limited… … what other western developer could they have really selected?
  10. Sonic Superstars

Ok I just started the post-game stuff and noted something weird/stupid… Not game ruining or anything, just a really bizzare design choice that leaves me scratching my head.
  11. Sonic Superstars

Brand new 2D sidescrolling Sonic game with 3D graphics. 4 player Co-op. You’re welcome @Cube…
  12. Dragon's Dogma 2

It's a Capcom game. It'll be 33%+ off in about 3-4 months and will eventually go down to about £5 and get included with every yearly Capcom Humble Bundle.
  13. Shin Megami Tensei V (Switch)

Gotta get out of Elden Ring's DLC blast radius I suppose... ... can't help but feel that one week isn't enough distance though for such a long game. They'd probably be better off delying the game by two weeks instead of pulling it forward by one.
  14. Some people have apparantly gotten it to work, but I've never been able to get it working myself. YMMV basically. FWIW, DSi enhanced games (of which DQ9 is not one of them) are able to use the more contemporary WPA security settings, and those games work just fine with a modern router. Have been able to play those games online with zero issues.
  15. Holy necrobump! Now here’s a game I’ve not seen in a loooooooong time. Yeah, DQ9 is perfectly fine in single player. I mean… it’s still a Dragon Quest game, so you know what to expect. Only things I’ll note is that this game features the Tension system introduced in DQ8, as well as Grottos which are… well… basically Mystery Dungeons! After all, the Mystery Dungeon games were originally a spinoff from Dragon Quest, so it’s just coming full circle here I do think that the game is better in multiplayer, it’s the only DQ game I’ve ever fully completed because the co-op multiplayer elevated the experience so much for me; but otherwise in single player? It’s pretty much your standard Dragon Quest fare with a couple of small wrinkles here and there (most notably the Tension system, the Alchemy Pot and the Grottos). As for the online/DLC stuff? It’s still very much accessible, since it was always built into the cartridge and just merely unlocked by going online. Getting your DS online in 2024 is dead simple, the only real issue is dealing with the DS’ ancient WEP WiFi security settings (but if you’re only connecting online for the few seconds it takes to unlock the DLC stuff, turning off your WiFi security for a minute or two shouldn’t be an issue).
  16. Your 2024 Gaming Diary

As someone who has played both games a lot more recently than you? No. No you really wouldn’t… 8 is a complete hot mess from start to finish, there’s a good reason why the series was put on ice not long after it came out…
  17. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

PS5's RRP is currently £479.99 (post price-increase), so that still puts it dangerously close to £599.99/$699.99 as I predicted. PS4 Pro sold for the same RRP as what the base PS4 cost when it first came out (£349.99/$399.99), but I don't think that's gonna happen again in today's CPI hellscape.
  18. Ooh! That's a neat diorama. If only it were customisable...
  19. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Apparantly this is indeed the final update... https://www.resetera.com/threads/the-final-smash-ultimate-spirit-event-drop-is-happening-this-weekend-peach-showtime-and-mario-wonder-spirits-coming.828957/
  20. Balatro (PS, Xbox, Switch, Steam)

That game actually looks legit interesting, but I see it got announced/released on March 3rd… yeah, that’s some very unfortunate timing. Can’t imagine that they expected another casino game roguelike to suddenly appear a couple weeks before and just utterly steal its thunder
  21. Your 2024 Gaming Diary

The minigames are all 100% hot fire though. You can’t say it’s the lamest Mario Party when Mario Party Advance and Mario Party 8 exist.
  22. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2024-spec-analysis-playstation-5-pro-the-most-powerful-console-yet Sounds like DF aren’t impressed with the leaked specs… Essentially a 45% GPU raster improvement, a 10% CPU improvement and enough extra RT performance to turn on an extra PC feature or two. Unless PSSR turns out to be a DLSS level miracle, this sounds like it’s gonna be a fairly minor upgrade (less of an upgrade than PS4 Pro was even).
  23. Balatro (PS, Xbox, Switch, Steam)

The game plays better with a touch screen than with buttons… so yeah. A mobile version would play perfectly fine.
  24. Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

  25. Resident Evil IX

Ahh, nothing quite like a classic Shot On Shittio off-screen camera leak photo. That means it must be legit!
